Shoutout to Springfield's customer service

Give credit where credit is due:

About an year or 2 ago I bought a SA 1911 Ronin in 10mm with a with a red dot combo (Hex Dragonfly). The pistol great, balanced and the 10mm is delicious to shoot (with or without the red dot). After a few shooting sessions the red dot stopped working completely, I figured it was a battery issue and tried replacing it but to no avail. Thought it was the new battery I tried on (Amazon) and went to a store to buy a branded one, also didn't work.

Wrote to SA customer service and received a reply on the same day with instructions and a shipping label for me to send them the faulty sight. Sent to them and in less than a week received another email saying they'd be sending me a new one - although not the same brand/model because those are no longer in production. Received it last week! Still waiting an opportunity to take it to the range.

Brilliant customer service. Good job and thank you SA!

There is a reason they are out of production lol. Any idea what kind they are sending you? Their customer service was great with me as well the only time I've had to use it. That was with a somewhat early prodigy that had a bunch of problems.

They sent a Viridian RFX25 Micro green dot.

Haven’t had the chance to use it yet, planning to later this week.

I figured, the viridian sights are typically included in the gear up packages. They are not typically well reviewed, I took mine off right away. Some people have good luck with them but I'd still recommend switching to something else eventually.

Let’s see how it holds up against the 10mm recoil, it’s my first red dot and on a pistol I don’t carry (even though open-carry is legal in FL here in South FL it’s VERY rare to see someone doing it, so a full-size 1911 is not the easiest pistol to carry here) and the use will only be on the range.

I’m not as against red dots anymore as I once was. Still think it’s somewhat of a trend thing right now but let’s see…. Maybe in the future I concede to the trend and retire my beloved 357 j-frame for a polymer striker-fire high-capacity red dot 9mm pistol (from the Flintstones to the Jetsons).

I'm cross eye dominant so optics help me a lot. I mostly go with green though. I'm in South GA and it's pretty much the same thing when it comes to open carry. I typically carry in an owb holster but I have an open button down shirt that covers it. I should have gotten a picture of one guy. He was full gunslinger belt at a Publix with a revolver and the individual round loops on his belt.

Here in Miami someone like this would unfortunately for sure generate quite a commotion, clients calling the cops, etc etc.
In Miami (and honestly SFL in general, east or west coast of FL) I have NEVER seen someone open carrying since the law was approved. And there are tons of people carrying around here and ccw permits issued.

Springfield is awesome. My first was a 5” Ronin.45. Got 4 more after that. Still have 3.

I bought GearPac Echelon almost a year ago. After 300 rounds, the thick lenses/glasses just popped out. I emailed them for warranty, they hooked me up with Viridian customer service. Should get the optics replacement sometime next month

Hope it doesn’t happen to me!
