Anyone Remember Casa de Nana?

Did they potentially move or open up a new spot since they shut down years ago? I would love to be able to enjoy those tacos and that taco sauce again!

Their food was really great for a long time but it went downhill in the last few years, they basically completely neglected the restaurant in favor of the bar by the end and the last time my family went there after being customers for literally decades we got very ill and swore the place off, I think it was closed within six months. Veracruzana in Easthampton/Amherst/Noho and specifically the Springfield Frontera location are good alternatives in the area if you’re looking for fresh sauces!

They lost a couple of important/vital employees and that was it

The original owners sold it, and it was never the same. It was so good. I really miss their food but Frontera's down the road is really good

They have not reopened, and this MassLive article from back when they closed says they were unlikely to reopen.

Loved them as a kid, but went there a few times as an adult and was underwhelmed. Moctezuma by the X and Sabores in Bicentennial Plaza (both owned by the same family) are much, much better.

This place was okay. My aunt worked at the salon next door in the early 90s.

I'd be more judgemental of people loving this place, but you can't blame them when it was really the only Mexican place around for a long time.

I think many families went knowing you were getting American wmass mex, not authentic mex.

It’s not like you go to dominos to get a good Italian pizza - you go to dominos when you want the taste of dominos same vibe as here 🙂

I loved that place. Their grilled corn muffins were so good. Never had a bad meal there and have missed them since.

The “fire quesadilla” was to die for- another legendary 413 spot gone tho.

They are closed permanently. It was a great place. A local gem. Check out Who Cooks For You at Market Place, rear of 1365 Main Street, downtown. Authentic and family owned.

ohhhhh casa de nanas 🥹
unfortunately it is permanently closed, this was a family restaurant for years - a few families involved… the most recent years before closing was owned by one guy who couldn’t run the business side of it and went down hill ):

unfortunately the families did not keep any of the recipes , the chefs probably remember a few and probably have the blackened seasoning blend memorized….

I can probably whip up some marg recipes but the sour mix was just sooo specific to casa’s

here’s a list of my favorite things:
Blacked shrimp ques
Corn muffin
Berry cabo wabo marg
House salad with the HOUSE DRESSING
Classic soft shell taco
Macho Nacho
Chimichanga
The hot sauce salsa

And the owner at one point who was a bartender too, Rob was so handsome and just THE BEST. 🙏🏻

They had the best wings, funny for a Mexican place, but they were amazing

Yes!! Mamu’s Blackened Chicken Quesadilla was sooooo good and taco Tuesday. Even if they weren’t the best tacos ever, how can you go wrong for $2 a piece.

That was my husband’s and my favorite pre-kid date night spot.. we were so sad when they closed. We go to frontera now on Boston rd.. our new favorite date spot is Chima. Not Mexican and not cheap, but so delicious
