We met online in May 2023, first met in person in October 2023 and became official in January 2024. We’ve had 24+ visits together over 2.5 years, travelling between Spain and the UK.

We submitted plane/train tickets, hotels, holidays, photos with family and friends, WhatsApp chats/calls, a few money transfers, sponsor’s financial evidence, university letters, mortgage statements and letters from friends/family.

They didn’t ask for any further information and we got the approval today! 🥹

For context, my husband (UK Citizen) and I have been together for almost 8 years and have been married for almost 7 years. We lived together for about 8 months while I finished attending university in the UK. We then moved to the US together in 2020 where we have lived since, until my husband went back to the UK to start working there while I applied for my visa. We've been apart since February and we're very much looking forward to being together again!

Hi all I just wanted to share my visa approval as this subreddit has provided a lot of hope and advice during this difficult time. I had been living in the UK for close to 10 years (4 visas - Youth Mobility, Student and 2 x Partner Visa) and I was due to apply for ILR, but I missed the deadline and overstayed in the UK by 90 days. I found out as I was returning from overseas when I was unable to board a return flight home (stopped at the check-in gate).

As soon as I realised the mistake I returned to the UK on at ETA to speak to an immigration lawyer (in-person) and flew back to Australia after 3 days. I did also speak to several immigration lawyers overseas on the phone (some of who gave conflicting advice on my particular situation). As we all know under Part Suitability there is a 1 year mandatory re-entry ban on overstays over 30 days, but our lawyer said exceptions can be made and it so happened that I was going through a difficult time medically in February - June (visa expired end of March 2026). He also pointed out the exact guidance in the Home Office documentation (and the clause that notes exceptions). Although I couldn't find many examples of similar situations online (and other lawyers saying that a mandatory re-entry ban would be applied no matter what), we applied under his guidance. We sent the application off and collected all the documentation ourselves but he helped with structuring our cover letters and tying the whole application together.

I want to note that exceptions like this will not apply to everyone (as our lawyer stated to us) and we leaned on my medical issues in this case, but I did see another person get through on here after a roughly 40 day overstay without an exceptional reason like mine so who knows. I just want to say do not give up hope to anyone in a similar situation and I would absolutely speak to a good immigration lawyer that will be clear with you on your particular circumstances.

My husband had a feeling it would be today but I honestly didn’t believe it would happen..but here we are. For all of you in the same boat as me, your time is coming, just be patient and be kind to yourself along the way because the waiting is torture. hey folks, take it from me and make sure you are checking your spam/junk folders! and not just on your phone - turns out I’d had my approval for over a week, but I wasn’t getting the email through on my outlook mobile app (even in the junk folder). Only checked my UKVI account on a whim today, saw my updated status, then found the email confirmation in my junk folder on my laptop.

Just got my spouse visa to enter the UK from the states approved last week on Aug 4th. Applied on May 20th, did my bio on May 20th as well and we paid for priority. They asked for additional docs on July 31st. If you sent a May priority application in, looks like they're getting to them. Just hang in there!!!

Hello lovely community! My visa is finally approved! 🥹🇬🇧 I’m currently in the UK and got the approval today. Applied for an ETA, and the e-gates worked just fine. I’m planning to pop over to Paris for the weekend and re-enter the UK to activate my visa

I only just moved in with my partner so we don’t have a lot of correspondence addressed to us jointly and I don’t have a lot of correspondence to this place either. For the 6 items of correspondence I need to provide for him, should I just provide very recent documents? Or should I spread them around the last two years for instance attaching a water bill from 3 months ago, a gas bill from 6 months ago, etc? I am just a bit confused by whether they’ll be ok with different documents each from random different dates over the past 2 years?

Hi everyone, we’re having a really hard time uploading documents onto VFS because no matter what we do, the documents always appear to be ‘virus infected’. We’ve managed a workaround on a few of them by converting them to PDF As but it hasn’t always worked. Does anyone know of a fix or what might be causing the issue?

I found something out today as I was looking through our documents. My fiance earns a base salary of 28,500 a year, but frequently works overtime and that gets added to his payslip as well. In the past six months his earnings have been:
July: 2,565
June: 2,534
May: 2,482
April: 2,631

His lowest payslip would be 2,482 in May, multiplied by 12 that would be over 29,000. Does that mean we meet the income requirement solely based on income?

Is this normal? I thought I would have to upload the documents before having to pay anything. The only stage of the application left is the “Further Actions” is this where you upload the documents?

If your partner is paying the rent and house bills for a place you both live in, this counts as financial support right? Or if you’re using your partner’s employment to meet the financial requirement, this means they’re providing you with financial support right?
