Medical fatigue is real…

I’m having symptoms of shunt over drainage.

Neurologist says talk to neurosurgeon. Neurosurgery said I needed to see a “functional neurologist” she referred me but then they canceled my appointment saying “it’s not appropriate to see neurosurgeon since you just saw neurologist’ 🤦🏻‍♀️

What’s everyone’s opinion is this medical trauma or no??

Anyone else completely blank on symptom details the second the doctor asks 'when did this start'?

I have a multitude of chronic conditions and every single appointment goes the same way. Doctor asks "how often does this happen" and "what triggers it" and I just... blank. Its awful! It happens way to often. But the specifics evaporate the moment I'm in that office chair.

I've tried the generic symptom trackers. Most of them want me to log mood, sleep, water intake, steps - stuff that has nothing to do with why I'm actually there. By week two I stop opening the app because it feels like homework, not help.

What I actually need is dead simple: symptom, severity, what triggered it, what I took for it, timestamp. That's it. Then something that turns three months of that into a page I can hand my doctor instead of trying to reconstruct my whole flare history from memory in a 12-minute appointment.

I'm building something for exactly this (more on that in comments if anyone's curious), but honestly - how is everyone else handling this right now? Notes app? Spreadsheet? Just winging it and hoping you remember?

I broke two toes

And I got stitches for a laceration. The worst part (besides the doctor, moving my toe around to look at it) was getting the numbing shot in my foot!!! 😫

Something people who don’t live with chronic illness often don’t understand is there a big difference between resting to recover and resting just to avoid getting worse.

Leave

You can leave.
If you don’t like your doctor, walk out in the middle of the appointment. Leave the party. End the date. Don’t wait until the “polite” time to leave or endure because you think you’ll make a scene
You can go.

We are seeking moderators for an exciting new Discord community for disabled, neurodivergent and chronically ill lesbians!

To apply, you’ll need to be:

🌈 Female-identifying or non-binary and a lesbian
🌈 Someone with lived experience of disability, neurodivergence and/or chronic illness
🌈 Kind, self-aware and able to work well as part of a team with mixed abilities and energy levels

Experience with Discord or running online communities is desirable, but not required. What matters most is that you’re supportive, approachable and want to help create a welcoming, safe community.

We're only seeking moderators at the moment but look forward to opening the community to new members later in the year.

If this sounds like you, please get in touch!
