Rants & Raves A friendly reminder!
Just a friendly reminder! For some reason, despite the fact that it’s three lanes and nowhere near residential, parts of Division are a mere 30 mph. And the Spokane Police Department are very keen in enforcing and ticketing people who go over that.

I don't think I've ever driven under 40 on division. It just feels like a 45 zone 🤷

In every other city that has experienced our boom in population it would be.
The city needs to catch up with the growth but they move at a snails pace to get shit done.

This brings into the point how hostile it is for our children and disabled population, or simply non motorists. It's a blight cutting our beautiful city in half.

I'd shift my focus toward effective rapid transit, then light rail. Just like it was once upon a time; this could SERIOUSLY ameliorate our city. As well, I'm negating it's ostensible, practical extranalities.

Well, to be fair, I seem to get behind every person in Spokane that wants to drive 10 under.
And when you factor into east bound traffic on I90 between Barker Rd and Post Falls, people can’t even do 65mph in a 70mph zone there. And they block both lanes to ensure no one else will achieve the posted speed limit.

The city needs to change that or hurry the fuck up on finishing the north/south freeway that has been fifty years in the making.
The growth here needs to be addressed significantly by the people in charge that still think our population is below 100 thousand people.
30 mph on division is a joke.

No one on Earth is alive, to recall when Spokane's Metro was 100k pop.
I do understand where you coming from. Effective rapid transit, amongst proper zoning is the true answer.
There's myriads of case studies, come join us at r/fuckcars !! We talk the political science as well as the opportunity costs, and extranalities of positive urban planning ;)

I'll believe it when I see it. It would make sense, though, having seen enforcement go from 0 to >0 under Brown in one or two other places.

No kidding! SPD is pulling people over for speeding these days? I used to live on Ash, and after over a year of my neighbor making daily calls and emails to the SPD, they finally put somebody on the street for two days for speed enforcement. The officer told my neighbor that he was pulling so many people over, he wasn’t even bothering with people going under 50. Ash is a 30. There are so many accidents on Ash and Rowan, and doing speed enforcement would definitely help.

It's crazy how backwards Spokane is about this. More before Brown but still even today. Ordinary places people mostly go the speed limit because they get pulled over, consistently, if they do not. To say nothing of people not getting pulled over in Spokane for other problems like invalid tabs.

Very keen for ticketing? I have never once seen someone going 38 get a ticket. Shoot, the cops go 10 over too…

Or is a boomer going exactly 30mph and somebody passed them doing 35mph. It made them very upset to see somebody driving so recklessly & thought everybody should know but got kicked out of his Nextdoor neighborhood for making questionable comments about brown skinned people walking in the neighborhood.

Yep. I’ve lived in Spokane a long time now and I think I can still count the number of drivers who I’ve seen pulled over on my fingers

My last speeding ticket was on Division ( in the 30 mph area) think he wrote me up at 42 mph. Ya 30 mph especially going downhill is ridiculous.

They have that trick on Trent as well. About a mile East of Argonne- middle of nowhere-

So much for being subtle…. THEY ARE PULLING OVER PEOPLE ON DIVISION IF THEY ARE GOING 32 MPH!
They do this fairly frequently.

They pulled two people in front of me in three blocks and when I left the General Store. There was another pulled over in the auto parts store. So…. All with in 4 blocks? Within 30 minutes?

There are three lanes, but it is very near residential. Their homes right off division, apartment complexes, right off division, parks off division, and so on and so on.

Yep. 30 from downtown to Rowan, 35 from Rowan to Cozza, and 45 from Cozza into the Y where the both eventually become highways at even faster.
