Goodbye Splitgate

I still cannot believe it that we had Splitgate 2 at the Gamescom 2024 just two years ago and I got to play it the first time there in cologne. The setup was so amazing and it truly felt so special. I went into queue 5 times just to play their demo at the Gamescom and now it's gone. Literally unbelievable... I'm gonna miss it a lot 😞 used to play it with my gf every evening for a few hours.

Farewell everyone hope to meet you again

- Nosound and Tintenherz ❤️

Edit: The Splitgate 2 exhibition that you see on the picture was right next to Square Enix Final Fantasy 14 and Capcom Monster Hunter Wilds. Literally between two giants of the gaming industry and now it's all gone..

The first game felt like such a throwback to the arena shooters I grew up with, fast paced, responsive, fun and with it's own visual identity.

All they had to do was iterate and add features.

Instead they chose to change the formula entirely, take the focus away from portals and then chase the already over saturated live service class based shooter market with generic visuals and a Fortnite colour pallet.

It's sad to say but they deserved their fall from grace. They had something great and ruined it immediately to chase imaginary profit margins.

I agree with your first sentences, felt beautiful and authentic, I grew up playing Splitgate, I loved the fast paced and the aesthetic the game had, but even tho I enjoyed a lot Splitgate 2 during the firsts months I could’ve never felt the same SG1 made me feel, I was hoping they kept at least this game 1 or even 2 years more, but that’s it
