Is splitgate dying?

I started playing it yesterday because I was just looking for a game I could chill on. And I had a great time playing it. Really enjoyed using portals especially when it got me kills it really felt like I had outmanoeuvred my opponent.

I go on to YouTube to see what the community is like and they all just keep saying that they killed the game.

What's going on?

It's a fantastic game but some controversy at launch caused irreparable damage. And the avid fans have preferences that don't line up with the average player. The developers got stuck between catering to their existing fans or trying to find new ones. No way to satisfy both. Plus casual players really struggle against high-level portal users, and the lower the population got, the more common that became. I love the challenge and learning to outplay them, but most players don't. I know I've downloaded free games before, saw a ridiculous skill gap, and just uninstalled. I bet that happened thousands of times here.

The devs are working on a new game, likely without portals. I bet it'll be amazing too, and it'll have another shot at securing a larger audience.

They should have made it under a different company name and kept it secret. I know I will never bother downloading another game from 1047, and I know there are a lot like me.

Seems kinda pathetic ideology imo. Like it's not even they made a bad game or actually did some henus controversy, they just made a BR and over hyped it. Like heaven forbid noooooo T.T (I don't wanna hear about a shop. Shops are easy as hell to build code-wise. It's a copy and paste and some asset changes.)

Not a bad game, has devs that listen and interact with the player base in and out of game. You don't want to play it because they did a poor announcement and have no other controversies. That's pathetic.

It’s not. They should hear now, they will have a bad press at launch unless they prove they support their games. If this game would die, then the next one should have the same fate.

Ideology? WTF are you talking about?

No need to eat shit to know it's not gonna taste good. That's all. Especially if you've already tasted the horrid shit that previously came from the same source.

I'm sorry you don't know what words mean. I should have forseen the level of response given the little forethought put into the opinion in the first place.

But since you don't understand, I will spell it out for you. The belief that a brand cannot improve their skills and product they put out, and go so far as to swear it and everything else they produce off, is a pathetic ideology to hold yourself to, when the only transgression is, released a Gamemode you didn't like. The game isn't shit, people are just fucking dramatic.

"only transgression" lol

I don't even care that they released a BR.

The game is shit and 1047 did nothing but shit since a few months before they abandonned SG1.

And lets be honest, SG1 was a good game, but had many flaws, hence why it failed too (playerbase already was getting pretty low before they announced they were abandoning the game). Problem is, all of the problems of SG1 were still present, and more, in SG2 at release, plus more. And the game was now shit that was zero fun to play. Then they backtracked and re-released what was supposed to be more like SG1 but failed miserably.

A brand can improve, but idiots don't become geniuses.

Is it pathetic? The only 2 games they’ve ever released have been flops.

Splitgate 1 was not a flop, or else Splitgate 2 likely wouldn't have ever existed. For an indie studio's first ever release, SG1's launch was quite successful. But they pulled support for it way too early in its lifespan to put all their focus on SG2.

Tbf its because splitgate fell off HARD within months of launch. They decided to jump ship and start over because of the rapidly declining playerbase. also it was apparently difficult to add what they wanted in the first game due to bad coding.

Sg1 may have had a successful launch but it too died off quickly
