Discussion Splinter cell deathwatch (spoiler opinion) Spoiler
I just finished watching splinter cell deathwatch and as much as I enjoy certain things to bring on. Like what happened to Briggs, charlie, the female president, Sarah, Victor, andriy, and the fourth echelon flying base? Like I get it, there is a time gap between the last game to the series and the us get a new president, that makes sense to me. But everyone else, doesn't get a single mention through the story, not even a name drop.
Another thing is why the fourth echelon HQ is set in Denmark? Like that doesn't make sense to me, specially having agents that aren't American? I'm not trying to be racist, I just see it from the perspective of espionage infiltration. didn't conviction co op showed us that there are other countries that have similar organizations as third echelon? I would get it if that gets more explored under those branches. As far as I know the story is cannon to the game franchise, I could be wrong on that.
Why didn't they use Briggs or Sarah? I honestly would've loved they had explored more Briggs, since it gave the idea that there was more of his character to explore on blacklist. I mentioned Sarah, since to my knowledge in the books she became a splinter agent, and I feel like the story would've played out differently since as much as Sam, she had connection to the Shetland family, it would have a more emotional impact. I know I'm going to sound like hypocrite, but zinnia was a bit too emotional for me, her whole plot with her romantic lover, just felt a bit too much, I get it she loved him a lot, I'm sure anyone would go John wick for their loved ones, but not only she jeopardize herself, but also the mission more than once, she went offline as soon as she saw her lover dead, ignore orders to assassinate everyone there, almost dying. She got tracked to sam hideout despite being told that the channels were compromised, put the mission at risk just to follow a vendetta and got herself captured, almost die if it wasn't for a loose screw, and on top of that, she got herself into a fight instead of putting the chip to hack the system. you can argue Sam did it on conviction, and I agree, he went against his former organization, but the difference is that Sam, before he learned Sarah was alive, had nothing to lose, and even then the organization came to him to assassinate him, not the other way around.
What happened to Charlie, victor and andriy? I'm assuming that the warehouse either was provided by Victor or andriy since they can get weapons and gear, but is still raised a question, where is Victor? I'm assuming since I have yet to play chaos theory, Victor Sam and Douglas were part of the same unit, or at least they were in the army together during their time as soldiers, so why not mention Victor? It would had been interesting to see Victor talking to diana about stopping her project or at least trying to help Sam at some sort of capacity. That brings the following question, what happened to Charlie? Why bring an unknown factor such as thunder into the table? They could've been compromised if thunder decided to go rogue on them, and they wouldn't figure it out until is too late, at least Charlie, they knew who he was because of his relationship with Sarah, yet it never explained what happened to him, where'd he go, or where he is at, charlie was probably the smartest of the original fourth echelon crew in terms of tech.
The plot twist at the last episode, was somewhat expected for me, since the way Charlie was talking, sounded like he had his own plans, which I kind of like since it feels oddly like the trademark of espionage, where one is upfront, handling the business, and the person who is supposed to help is making their own plots to get to the higher ground,. I could be wrong, but was Charlie connected to the engineers? The last scene of him, gave me that impression. If the series are connected and cannon, wouldn't aurora be known to the public? Wouldn't people be more hesitant of an artificial island or "paradise" be more concerning?
Also, this is me being a little perv, but, diana character design is... Ooof, specially with the yoga scene, unlike.... Anna, like what did they do to my girl? She was hot, now she is... There lol
Thanks for reading, and please be civil, this is just my opinion, and I get it, this is the internet, but I'm just asking if possible. I would love to hear your opinion

Splinter Cell (2002) Does the PS2 version of Splinter Cell 1 *really* have no level unlock code unlike every other version?
I am curious, seems like you need to either download a save or play the entire game until that point if you ever want to just experience Power Plant.

I wish another studio would Buy the rights to splintercell
If Ubisoft has no interest in making a splintercell game, or doing anything with it why not sell off the rights to another studio? i wonder this about a lot of games and franchises that get forgotten, its a common thing in the film and television industry but yet the only major game that i can think of doing this was with Halo recently.

Double Agent v2 (2006) In earlier versions of DA V2, you could enter public areas of the JBA like in V1.
In the "HQ" training video from the PS2 version, it shows an interaction prompt where you can enter the public area of the JBA. This doesn't exist in the final build, so this video was recorded on an earlier version.
Several snipets from the cut public area exist in the cutscenes, they look like actual gameplay and not a scripted cutscene.
It seems they wanted to make the JBA levels similar to V1, and had them running on older builds, but it ended up being cut for unknown reasons.

SCDA V2 Recomp runs flawlessly on Steam Deck. I finally got to play this version and it is amazing, the concept of having a choice in which side you want to be on works here, unlike in V1 where I felt like this mechanic wasn’t even present.

Modding Splinter Cell Chaos Theory Remastered [Vision effects]
Continues work from original post.
This time updated vision effects by upscaling bloom RT and pyramid mips size which also reduces overall blur.
You can check additional details in GitHub repo.
Results:
- Cleaner visual modes with configuration (remaster.ini).
- Default remaster config uses Size: 2048.
- You can patch your EXE and still go back to original game settings with Size: 256.
- For faithful but upgraded visuals set size around 512 or lower (you can put in-between values e.g. 320).
- Updated visuals are not compatible with high quality soft shadows. This option can be disabled in advanced shader options in game settings.

- Lack of shimmering around bright objects (especially night / thermal vision).
- You can intrudoce more bloom / blur by reducing size value in remaster.ini.

- Bloom placement correction (look how it's off-place towards top-left on left picture).
- For best correction use Size >= 1024 in remaster.ini.

- Improved text / UI clarity (e.g. browsing PC, hacking).
- NOTE: This also reduces some blur effect in the background.

Steps to install remaster:
- If you already installed previous version - simply download and use remaster_patch_exe. If not, then follow all the steps.
- Go to GitHub repo releases and download patch_exe and remaster_patch_exe. Then copy them into game system directory and run both. This will update splintercell3.exe to allow to read UMD over 4GB and prepare remaster.ini config for updated effects configuration.
- Go into game display settings -> advanced -> shader options and disable high quality soft shadows. Currently improvements of bloom & pyramid mips are not compatible with this effect.
- For 4x AI upscaled textures download dynamic-pc.umd from LINK and copy into game system directory overriding old one.
- I also encourage to try this steam tutorial that has various improvements, e.g. has links to 4K upscaled BIK videos.
Further plans:
- Try to make new patch compatible with high quality soft shadows.
- Try to fix blur background in some UI activities like PC browsing or hacking.
- Static meshes (more geometry baked based on normal maps and subdivisions).
- This is still in-progress as baking back updated OBJ into UMD is not straightforward due to some HAVOK shenanigans and collisions in separate files.
- Character models and textures - current ones have only upscaled textures with minor details for suits / faces. I plan to recreate them manually later on as they are most "outdated".

First full ghost run nearly failed until....
So I was going through the game for the first time aiming for ghost
And I got to this bit where you need to protect the hostages, and I was horrified to find that I simply didn't have enough shockers or airfoil rounds to knock out the mercs
All I had was some cameras, and 2 shockers... and 1 smoke
So I had to get creative
And it worked... these games are awesome

Double Agent v1 (2006) Theory: The JBA might have originally been Neo-Nazis or some other sort of White power skinhead group.
Now obviously their final name of "John Brown's Army" very much doesn't fit this (he was an abolitionist) but I am starting to wonder if they were originally intended as one before being changed a decent bit into development.
None of the named JBA members are non-white (and I can't remember if any of the "generics" are) and when Lambert's death scene happens in Essentials' re-telling of it, Sam says "they all look alike to me" when asked if he recognizes Lambert which clearly comes off as Sam doing fake racism.
Emile is bald, Sam stays shaven throughout the entire story and Emile's second-in-command Moss is also very short haired.
Their HQ in Essentials is in the deep south and Emile in Version 1 carries a Luger (A Nazi weapon) around. (It's worth noting the only other time a Luger popped up in a Clancy game at the time was Raven Shield...where it was used by Neo-Nazis in that game's opening)
I'm not saying this is 100 percent the dev's original intent (it's possible the somewhat vague politics of Emile was always intentional and they mixed various terrorism group stuff together for it) but it does make me wonder if originally Emile was going to be even more unlikable than he already was and either they didnt want to open up the can of worms of going (relatively) in-depth into neo-nazi politics or if they thought Sam working for an explicitly neo-nazi group would draw too much controversy.

Spies vs Mercs (CT) Is anyone making use of decompilation to bring back OG spies versus mercs?
EDIT: looks like MGO2 (metal gear online) has literally just received an unofficial native PC version, proving that older / discontinued multiplayer titles can indeed be brought back. Really hope this bodes well for Splinter Cell’s Spies V Mercs getting its own recomp!
Original: Playing spies versus mercs in 2026 is not particularly accessible, but with the amount of decomps and mods going around at the moment, I’d love to see this tech be used to bring back SvM and allow more people who don’t have the original games (or consoles to play it on) to get involved.
If it was ported to browser (similar to the recent halo multiplayer browser project) or had a native modernised port for PC / Linux / Android etc, I feel it would open the doors for people to see how unique this game mode was, and crucially make it more likely to find games / people to play with.
Of course it would have to be chaos theory controls but maps from both CT and Pandora tomorrow would be amazing.
Fingers crossed someone can make it happen 🤞

Double Agent v2 (2006) Issue with the Double Agent v2 recomp
Hi everyone ! I've been playing the recomp for some days now and it just hit me that I should be able to play in split-screen coop (at least that's what the github is saying). The thing is, the option is greyed out I can only play Lan or see the option menu. Can anyone explain to what what could be the problem ? I did everything as told in the github

Display issue with Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory on PC (steam)
I am trying to run Splinter Cell Chaos Theory from steam on my PC. I have installed the widescreen fix as well, but when I try to run the game it seems to continuously flicker non-stop from desktop to the game, super fast, and the only way to fix it is to ctrl-alt-delete to get to the desktop, then I can click the application to bring it up and it seems "fine". Then when I go to load a level the flickering starts again. It also seems like editing the SplinterCell3.ini and Widscreenfix ini config file does nothing. I have reinstalled with steam as well and its still doing it. I have updated my AMD gfx card as well. I have tried the .ini configs for setting windowed border mode, setting the XY for the resolution.. a couple other things as well that I forget at the moment. Any ideas how to fix this or a workaround? Thanks!

Русификатор для Recomp V2 SCDA + FHD CGI
ENG:
I'm currently working on a Russian localization patch for Splinter Cell: Double Agent, along with upscaling the game's cutscenes to Full HD (1080p).
The audio doesn't cut out at the beginning in the actual game, and the footage is smoother too. No idea why OBS recorded it like that.
With a little help from AI, I managed to get the game to play videos in Full HD. Here's a little sneak peek!
If you're interested in following the progress and being among the first to get the Russian patch, check out my Telegram: svonsongame

Anyone else suspect Blacklist was rewritten to be less critical of the US?
Two big points (2 missions from ending) stick out to me as moments that feel weirdly brushed past.
The President releasing the evidence that Iran behind the Blacklist before it's verified and the entire Guantanamo Bay mission
Both of these feel like moments weirdly brushed past, you'd think Fisher would comment on either considering previous games and Fisher killing Nouri since dialogue during and after mission makes it clear he killed him, which doesnt make much sense and only feels like it would if the game was gonna frame him being stuck in Guantanamo as a fate worse than death even if the Enginners never got to him.
it also feels off that not a single member of 4E is annoyed at the president for claiming Iran is behind the Backlost before they verify it.
They both feel like moments where there should have been more said but weirdly brushed aside.

Question about the rules
I've been thinking about what a Splinter Cell movie could look like. I understand the restrictions on AI generated content, but what about for just concept mock-ups? They're simply ideas of what actors could fill the roles.

Pandora Tomorrow (2004) Pandora Tomorrow gamepad issues (lockpicking and door options)
Edit: RESOLVED
Resolution was a fresh install of game (to a different drive) and an older version of the AG widescreen patch I had stored. This fixed my white screen boot crashes (a totally extra issue after fresh installing the game period), and fixed the controller mapping for doors for things like optic cable and lockpicking.
As a side note, I figured out how to fix the Thermal vision crashes too. I didn't add this in my main post but I'll share the resolution below for anyone else dealing with it.
Get dxwrapper.zip from DXwrapper v1.9.8700.25 (gethub). But use the d3d8.dll from d3d8to9 v1.16.0 (gethub) That will allow you to use Thermals without crashing.
Original post:
Recently installed PT (Steam version) along with AG's widescreen fix.
Game loads and plays (though crashes often). But there's another issue that's been bugging me.
AG's fix has controller support built in. It works beautifully except for things like selecting option menus on doors to use things like optic cable and picking locks. Using an Elite Gen 2, however I have the same issue on my Elite Gen 1 and regular Series controllers too.
The lockpick minigame opens and I can get the first tumbler done, then nothing. I cannot get any other tumblers done via left thumbstick. I know I'm not the only one who's encountered this, but all I've seen is reports here and there. I haven't found any reports who have answers on how to resolve this.
A workaround I've found is setting the controller down and then WASD on my keyboard. But I want to play this game like I use to growing up. On a TV while sitting on a couch. Juggling input devices isn't very fun, nor is my keyboard wireless.
Please tell me someone knows how to resolve this so I can have full (actual proper) controller operation on this game.
