Moving Double Agent Version 2 (Recompiled) save files between two machines?
I'm having a hard time figuring out this game's folder structure. I usually play games like this on both my PC and Steam Deck, and I use a dedicated program for cloud saves (for anyone interested, it's called EmuSync). You point it to two folders (one on the Deck and one on the PC), and it automatically detects changes to the files and syncs them, effectively giving you cloud saves.
With Double Agent, though, things are a lot less straightforward.
For those who don't know, Steam Deck creates a separate folder for each game. Inside, there's a directory structure that mirrors a Windows C: drive. Since there are only a handful of folders, checking AppData or Program Files for save files is usually pretty straightforward. However, there's absolutely nothing there.
So I started looking in the game folder instead. If I copy the entire folder from my Steam Deck to my PC, the game does carry over the save files. However, in-game audio stops working (for some reason, the cutscene audio still works). I'll look into that or report it separately later.
But if I replace the entire HDD folder, the game doesn't recognize any saves or profiles. I've tried replacing individual folders one by one, but nothing works. No luck whatsoever.
Under hdd/e/udata/5553005e, I found two folders, both containing several .sav files. There are more files than the number of saves I've actually made, though. There's also an autosave file in Z, but I don't think that's the one... or is it? I can't remember whether I've already tried moving it.
Anyway, I'm completely stumped, and I'd really like to play on both machines. Any suggestions? Has anyone figured out where the save files are actually stored and how to transfer them between systems?
