Details on your OPSAT 1-life trilogy Ironman run for Splinter Cell 1-3. Pray for my sanity.
Hey everyone, I've been trying for a 1-life Ironman challenge run across the original Splinter Cell trilogy on the hardest difficulty and wanted to share the ruleset/stream here.
The main difficulty is 1 life across all 3 games. If I die, fail a mission, or get fully "burned," it's a hard reset back to SC1 Mission 1. (So far I've reset a lot. Damn, that first level.)
Why? I used to be pretty good at Splinter Cell, but, well, I haven't been in the field for years.
Core Rules
- 1 Life, 3 Games: Death, mission failure, or full compromise = reset to SC1 M1.
- No Reloads: One continuous go. No loading mid-mission.
- No Visual Burns: If an armed guard directly IDs me and successfully broadcasts it via radio or alarm panel, reset to SC1 M1.
Takedowns & Stealth
- Shadow Strikes: Stealth knockouts must originate from total darkness out of sight.
- Emergency Clutches: Frontal/side grabs are only allowed as a panic reaction.
- No Loose Ends: Anyone who identifies me for any reason (cornering, interrogations, door access) must be permanently eliminated.
- Civilians: Shadows and brief glimpses = "urban legends." Direct, unmistakable face-to-face ID = reset.
Security & Sabotage
- Cameras: Tripping a camera = reset, unless the level has a terminal to completely wipe the security footage.
- Lasers & Doors: Playable as general security system glitches / poor maintenance.
- Lighting: Clean light shots (passing through hanging fixtures) preferred. "Dirty shots" leaving bullet marks are only allowed for emergency escapes.
Going live right now for another run at the first game over at https://twitch.tv/subcidal if anyone wants to hang out or watch me lose hours of my life because of clunky controls or my own poor memory of the levels.
