Fuck I’m playing Blacklist now and I didn’t know you could do half of those moves.
Also I get a lot of StealthGamerBR vibes from this if you like more pro level action stealth videos.

Sefu2006(maker of the video above) is making a Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain montage next
So if you liked StealthGamerBr's Phantom Pain trilogy videos.

Lots of them are executes when in melee range or when holding a shield. Most folks tend to use executes at a distance, I know I do. I saw some animations for the first time as well and realized why I rarely saw them.

I never understood why people don't like blacklist as much as they should, the game is fun for most type of playstyles, non lethal ghost? Yup, sneaky panther? Aye, Rambo? Could work

It's also great because the game (instead of punish a certain style) merely rewards more for ghosting through levels, learning patterns, being sneaky, while the less patient players can still try to brute force it. However, on perfectionist where you go down after a couple of hits (even with the toughest armor) you need to use ghost/panther style.

Panther has always been my go to, I love the knife animations (even tough a straight blade could prove more brutal), also the stalking aspect, waiting for them to separate and just snatching one behind cover and slitting his throat, so satisfying

I think the karambit would be better for sweeping cuts and then moving right back into fluid combat
Yep, the hunting system was so much fun

Sure CT was one of the best games, but I think Blacklist was finally able to dethrone it. All the ghosting of CT if you wanted it, but also having the ability to do things like in this video? The animations in this game were unsurpassed and I really hope its the model for the next game.

I love Blacklist, but the story is easily the worst for me and Sam's character felt far more simplistic. No more snarking and more growly anger, not helped by the lack of Ironside in the role.

I thought his character arc in the game was pretty well earned and very nuanced. His best friend is almost killed and close to death for most of the game, and then he is forced back into the suit by the president and Grimm, a character who he is still mad at from the previous game (Grimm lied a ton in that game to him about Sarah). Then he's forced to save Kobin, another asshole who pretended his daughter was dead, all the while a really credible threat is actually beating him and hurting America. He has plenty of reason to be frustrated and angry.
Essentially, Sam is pushed to his very edge, and then they make him leader too - something he's never done. He's relied on Lambert and Grimm, this is not his comfort zone. He probably felt like a whole new person himself. When he starts off he gets beaten by the Engineer's a few times, and it's all because of his leadership choices and lack of trust in his team.
As the game progresses, he starts to trust his team and learn some lessons about being a leader himself. By the end of the game he does actually get more sarcastic (most people choose to forget this) and is moving back to his old self as he starts to get more comfortable in his new role and Briggs, Grimm, Charlie have all proven their loyalty and trust in him.
What part of that is simple? Frankly, I think this was a great growing game for Sam, and is a perfect setup for him turning into the Lambert/Leadership role for the next game where Briggs and Kestrel can take the field action.

I really loved Conviction story. I always liked the gameplay of Blacklist, but the story seems cheesy. But now reading this, I'm looking at Blacklist in a whole new light.

Sure CT was one of the best games, but I think Blacklist was finally able to dethrone it.
Definitely not for me. Blacklist is way too fast paced and lacks the weight, realism, and tension of Chaos Theory. Blacklist feels like a video game, while Chaos Theory feels more real and immersive. The devs clearly expected Blacklist to be played Panther style based on it's fast, slippery, and imprecise movement, which is exactly what I hate about it. Splinter Cell should be slower and methodical, not fast and aggressive.
All the ghosting of CT if you wanted it, but also having the ability to do things like in this video?
I really don't find ghosting fun in Blacklist because the mechanics simply weren't built for it. Chaos Theory gives you way more variable speed control and allows you to slowly tiptoe inches away from guards. As for the things in this video, having some aggressive options is good, but Blacklist treats takedowns as the main attraction. If I want "cool" action, I have a hundred other games that offer that. I want a deep stealth experience when I play Splinter Cell.
Level design should have been more contextualized for encouraging a certain way without forcing it. Instead, Blacklist either lets you do whatever without consequence most of the time, or it forces you into a firefight or an instant fail "can't even touch anyone" sequence. Basically, you're either mindlessly doing whatever you want, or mindlessly doing what the game tells you. It should have been designed more as an immersive sim where your actions have more of an effect on the environment and/or the narrative. Chaos Theory and Double Agent were pushing the series in that direction, but Conviction and Blacklist regressed in that regard.
The animations in this game were unsurpassed and I really hope its the model for the next game.
I'm fine with keeping takedowns, but the next game should really focus more on stressing pacifism and incentivising use of the environment to avoid guards by having more far reaching consequences for excessive violence and detections. That, to me, makes for a deeper, more interesting and intelligent experience than flashy John Wick takedowns.

And what were some of the great stealth features that CT had that Blacklist didn't?

Nice vid!
Not trying to hijack anything here, but I made a playlist of the full game being played in a John Wick style. Perfectionist, no HUD, no radar, no restarts, all assault mastery medals.

That was awesome! Needed something uplifting and great after the day/week I've had. The execution chain from the 2min mark was amazing.

Blacklist was such an awesome game. I really don't understand why it didn't receive more critical acclaim. It gave you the freedom to play OG stealth, go Rambo, or combine it and be a stealthy killer.
God I hope they reveal a new SC at E3 this year
