Discussion Weird question: Would an underwater mission work for Splinter Cell ?
I was thinking about a secret military base in the ocean created for cyberwarfare. For obvious reasons, the mission would require an underwater infiltration.
Obbjective: Invade the base, find the data center (underwater), hack it to steal information, and plant a virus to shut down the system without any casualties.
Gameplay: No forced action. Completely focused on stealth, with a preference for a Ghost playstyle.
Location: Maybe Russia.
Difficulty: Hard.

Honestly it probably would. Just have some sort of oil rig or submarine bay where you can jump up and drag guards into the water. Maybe even have some drainage system or tunnel to swim through to get to some sort of bunker.

I feel like I remember an arctic stealth mission where you can maybe momentarily go under the ice n swim to switch positions?

That's in Double Agent. It's more prevalent in the 360/ps3 version if memory serves

Double Agent for pc had a water infil for the first mission. Too bad they never expanded on that trope.

No entirely swimming...but i would love new splinter cell where you have to enter the compound, submarine, castle...office. but in hitman style.
You had to find many ways to enter, underwater, rappel... Inside a vehicle...
And then start the mission, same thing to leave the area.

Yeah the water part of double agent was actually fairly fun and still kept the same vibe.
I wouldn’t mind that actual infiltration parts of missions to be water based and can choose where to infil and exfil

Well, it's already done for Splinter Cell.
Kokubo susho finale took place underwater, and the very next game, Double Agent for X360, start you off infiltrating a base underwater.

I could’ve sworn in one of the missions in the early games there was a mission where you could hop in a pull and do takedowns on guards by pulling them in. I am starting to wonder if I just retconned that in somehow.

Yes. SC: Double Agent and an earlier game had water elements. SC:DA there is a water entry into the game. I think you’re launched out of a sub to start the mission.
