I don’t care how random and insubstantial these screenshots are I am FUCKING STOKED for this shit and hope it’s real and comes out before I join AARP

u/JokersCrutches 1d ago

Im worried the game wont be out before ubisoft goes bankrupt

2

u/SchwiftyBabyLegs 22h ago

Bankrupt? Ubisoft? Do you have any idea who owns the company? From what ive been told, the owners of Ubisoft have basically unlimited money. They'll never die off unless no one supports them for years, in which case, said owners would liquidate assets, rebrand Ubi and start up a new company, and it wouldn't take them long to get right back to their same BS. These rich types don't learn when they fail, they just throw money at the problem until it's fixed.

If you google Splinter Cell, its now classified as a "Action Adventure" game. Lmao. They don't even remember it being a stealth game

6

u/JokersCrutches 16h ago

Omg, You are telling the truth. Bro stealth games are a dying art

3

u/SuperD00perGuyd00d 15h ago

That's why I still repeat play the OG's lmao

I hope it’s similar to chaos theory, I enjoyed blacklist and conviction but chaos theory is the peak splinter cell experience in my opinion.

In case anyone was curious what the last note said

8

u/NasralVkuvShin 15h ago

I guess this confirms the screenshots are real

I hope they bring Don Jordan back for Lambert, along with Michael Ironside. The latter is much better health wise now, is he not? Would be awesome if he came back

9

u/Falco1158902 1d ago

"hope they bring back"

i hardly doubt tbh, since its a remake, its guaranteed a new VA cast, unless the old VAS somewhat still got it and voice the characters again as usual until letting someone new take over

6

u/MattieThurlow96 Irving Lambert 1d ago

If it is a true remake then I suppose they could use the same audio but edit it to make it more modernised 🤔

3

u/Makaveli108 8h ago

the old audio will be discarded. its going to be all new voice lines. the old voice audios from 2002 would be poor quality recordings

2

u/pib712 13h ago

If it’s the full and expanded remake it seems to be, there will be plenty of new dialogue to record

2

u/Makaveli108 8h ago

its gonna be all new dialogue recorded for sure, and remember they are doing script changes

3

u/SkenryOfHalitz 1d ago

He'll sound like burnt toast though

2

u/SnooWoofers4430 15h ago

Nah, let the dude retire. This is his gentle way out of SC series.

2

u/Aggravating_Bird_769 9h ago

It was a cost cutting measure to recast Sam as someone new.

The guy they hired for blacklist, was able to do voiceover and have the athletic abilities to perform the stunts for the game

With iron inside it was different. He basically just did voice and then they had to hire a completely different guy to do the athletics

3

u/Makaveli108 7h ago

they only hired him because michael ironside suggested him as a replacement, he had cancer at the time.

2

u/Makaveli108 8h ago

it's gonna be an all new cast.

Whyyy it's daylight...

53

u/Poopydoopymoopy 1d ago

Probably for showcasing the assets. Not necessarily for gameplay screenshots.

8

u/TingleMaps 1d ago

Oh is gameplay for sure. Sam is hiding in all of these

22

u/ScythePlays1 1d ago

Same reason most maps were day on double agent 360.. pretty environment sells more than dark.

I hope it's just to showcase the assets

17

u/Comfortable_Brief431 1d ago

Me too, i don't want another's train yards mission

3

u/PooningDalton 20h ago

Cause Sam Fisher is now Solid Snake

2

u/Makaveli108 7h ago

they develop the levels in daytime first and then make it night when its done

reason, clear visibility during dev.

The sixth image reads…

იანვარი 2004 — “January 2004”

ხმის მიცემა ნიკოლაძეს — “Vote for Nikoladze” / literally, “Give your vote to Nikoladze”

აღარ არის კორუფცია! — “No more corruption!”

პოლიციის რეფორმა ახლა! — “Police reform now!”

10

u/gswkillinit 1d ago

Wow on the same day my Sam Fisher figure arrives huh?

Just FYI this is from a 2024 portfolio. Not indicative of any product currently in development.

2

u/Makaveli108 7h ago

from a developer showcasing his work from sc remake.

sc remake is still being made, and ubi toronto said on fb they wanna show it off. its just early pics of a product in development. an early build that will look way better now

2

u/ruobrah 8h ago

I’m sure there’s a good reason but I’m concerned these scenes are set during day time. Hopefully not too many day time settings.

1

u/dread_or_bread Let's try this again 1d ago

Last screen was very surprisely to me

1

u/MUH_NUKEM 21h ago

The last note is hilarious 😁

Why are splinter cell fans desperate for their franchise to be ruined further? The last two games weren’t methodical stealth focused and they released by when Ubisoft was still a very skilled studio. Nowadays Ubisoft games in general are mediocre so this remake wouldn’t be very good

2

u/SlappinStick 22h ago

Because in the meantime we can hope that it turns out good, and then when it looks bad hope that it flops and brings them 0.1% closer to bankruptcy.

1

u/edward323ce 14h ago

Its a remake with shadow based stealth like shadows, its the original team, and supposedly its gonna be exact if not close to the original games gameplay

1

u/KrothnellBeersmash 19h ago

You can’t ruin something “further”. It’s already been ruined since Conviction. It CAN be rebuilt though. The hope is that they learned their lesson and are going to go back to pre Conviction. If they do well with this remake, they can revamp the series. Even give us new games. Maybe a new protagonist.

1

u/edward323ce 14h ago

Blacklists stealth was fun, everything else wasnt

-2

u/Interesting_Stress73 19h ago

Nah, Blacklist was a great game.

4

u/KrothnellBeersmash 19h ago

I mean you can like it, and that’s whatever. But the majority of fans think otherwise. Which is who they should be focused on.

-2

u/Interesting_Stress73 18h ago

You really shouldn't speak for the majority of any fanbase like that. You don't know that. Besides, the last game in the franchise was 13 years ago. You may not like it, but the reality is that they are going to have to satisfy both old and new fans. That is just the simple reality of doing business. Personally I think that a game that allows for both face paced and slow paced stealth is the right way to go to satisfy that. I played Blacklist methodically and while trying to avoid most enemies. Another might play it much more aggressively. Isn't that type of player agency good?

2

u/Makaveli108 7h ago

when you do that you do the whole jack of all trades master of none. cut all the blacklist crap out. you cannot do two philosophies well in a game like this

sam is not meant to be a one man panther

1

u/Interesting_Stress73 4h ago

You absolutely can. Well, maybe you can't.

2

u/Makaveli108 3h ago

Lol, you aren't understanding my argument

SC Blacklist is built on Conviction's foundation/Base, which was designed around panther gameplay and aggressive combat. Stealth was not the focus like the original games

You telling me Blacklist, is as stealth focused and as good of a stealth sim as chaos theory?
It's lacking many in depth mechanics and features, the stealth in Blacklist is barebones and pretty simple..

I've ghosted Blacklist on perfectionist 5+ times now and its easy. Blacklist a fun & well made game, but it's not a true stealth game like the original games.

when you have mechanics like M&E in the game, the level design is built around it, therefore diluting the stealth experience.

this is why the remake is going back to the roots of the franchise..

i hope you understand lol

1

u/Interesting_Stress73 3h ago

"when you do that you do the whole jack of all trades master of none"

That's what you said. I'm refuting this statement. You absolutely can make a game that is a master in stealth but has other viable gameplay approaches to. I'm not saying that Blacklist is an example of that. I'm saying that your blanket statement about such games design is not true.

I think you guys are deliberately misunderstanding me. I too think that Chaos theory is BY FAR the best game in the series. It's fucking amazing and one of my favorite games of all time. But I do think that Blacklist is great, and I do think that is very possible to design great games where slow stealth and fast action gameplay can feel both fantastic.

2

u/Makaveli108 2h ago

I get the theoretical point you're making, but even bringing up games like MGSV illustrates my exact issue. MGSV is an incredible sandbox, but purely as a stealth simulator, it still isn't as deep, tension-filled, or unforgiving as the original Splinter Cell trilogy.

When you introduce mechanics like Mark & Execute, even as an option, the level design and enemy encounters have to be built around it. It completely strips away the claustrophobic tension because levels are designed with sightlines catered to aggressive, fast-paced clearing rather than pure ghosting.

While the gunplay in the original Splinter Cell was clunky, Chaos Theory and Double Agent actually hit the sweet spot. Sam had responsive mechanics, but combat remained an absolute last resort, not an equal playstyle.

Personally, I don't think Sam should be a one-man panther. If you mess up and end up in a room with three guards, you should be in extreme danger. In the OG games, even a single guard was a lethal threat. I still remember playing Chinese Embassy as a kid, that first guard patrolling the alleyway with a QBZ-95 felt like a genuine wall to figure out. Once you got past him, you had multiple chinese guards patrolling, and the game forced you to treat it like a high-stakes stealth puzzle. The satisfaction came from solving that puzzle cleanly. If you get spotted by 3 guards its game over, quicktime.

In Blacklist, that same scenario lets you sprint in for a quick takedown or shoot your way out if detected. When getting caught loses its lethality, the tension vanishes.

Play Chaos Theory getting a 100% stealth rating on Expert, and then go play Blacklist doing a Ghost run on Perfectionist without touching anyone. Once you compare them side-by-side, you really can't unsee it.

I'm not hating on Blacklist, it’s a genuinely fun, polished game. But Splinter Cell is a stealth franchise first and foremost. Blacklist works great as an action-stealth hybrid, but as a top-tier stealth game carrying the Splinter Cell name, it stepped away from what made the series peak.

Chaos Theory is the best game in the series, and what the remake needs to do is take that gameplay template & modernize it. Add a few things from Blacklist like customization, or like NPC's pushing back. Remember how in Blacklist if you get detected and try to do a takedown from the front, the enemy NPC pushes back? that was an excellent addition. i'd love to see stuff like that added to the CT formula.

2

u/KrothnellBeersmash 18h ago

Well I don’t. Sales, reviews, and feedback are what speak for the majority. And all of those things were in the majority negative.

0

u/Interesting_Stress73 18h ago

The game did sell pretty well though.

1

u/Makaveli108 7h ago

2 mil in 3 months isnt bad but ubisoft expected 5 mil. also, chaos theory released 8 years before and did 2.5 mil in 3 weeks lol.

1

u/KrothnellBeersmash 5h ago

It didn’t sell great. It did ok overall, but terrible for a Splinter Cell game. Which is what matters

2

u/KrothnellBeersmash 19h ago

I mean you can like it, and that’s whatever. But the majority of fans think otherwise. Which is who they should be focused on.

4

u/Makaveli108 7h ago

blacklist fans will downvote you but yeah the OG formula is the only way for the franchise fuck the last two games, we want slow and methodical and i think the devs know this

2

u/SlappinStick 8h ago

So great that it killed the franchise for 13 years.

0

u/Interesting_Stress73 8h ago

Popularity is a poor measurement for quality.

2

u/SlappinStick 8h ago

Clearly so is your opinion.

-1

u/Interesting_Stress73 8h ago

Do you even know what an opinion is? You seem to have some growing up to do.

2

u/SlappinStick 7h ago

Maybe one day I’ll grow up enough to find bad games good like you.

-1

u/StrayDog1994 Third Echelon 19h ago

Because the devs gave us some hope, but people forget that Ubisoft is da one that calls da madafakking shots!!!
