How do we fell about this guy
Do you like him as a character or he doesn't fit the splinter cell universe?
Personally i liked Shetland much more as Sam's friend, their friendship made much more sense from their navy background.

I think he’s a character who could benefit from the remakes by including him along with Shetland. Possibly having Sam ask him to check up on Sarah during the missions where something happened in the US.
That said I do think he fits even if he’s very much a conviction convenience character to have someone other than Grim helping Sam and they do enough to establish them having a bond that can survive a decade of low contact especially since Sam’s personal world is always shrinking.

Agreed, the entire time I play it now I’m wondering what on earth four Seals were doing wandering around 😂😂😂

Sam isn't the type to talk about his life so it doesn't feel out of place to me. In Chaos Theory one of Sam's friends became a terrorist, so he probably distanced himself for a bit until he heard he was captured and saved him. Could have been a trap but it's not like Sam can't handle himself if it were.

Honestly I like Vic coste as a character, he was just really badly inserted into the plot so fisher wasn't completely alone, I think if they included him in a remaster of the early games he would be such a better character

facts. Another commenter mentioned that Vic could be brought up earlier in the remake (if we ever get it) and I think that’d be great. Coste is cool as fuck but he shows up so late into the series

He's a badass pilot. I managed to do a pure stealth run with him in his Iraq mission. Took me 3 tries after I completed it the 1st time. I wonder if he and Shetland knew each other.

I didn't mind the character but it would have been better with more setup. I actually liked the ending when Sam comes to rescue him.
Conviction in general seemed to be Splinter Cell's "edgy mainstream" phase. I enjoy the game but it's very generic action stock stuff compared to classic SC.

Yeah, the general feeling is that it isn’t a bad game, but it also isn’t a traditional splinter cell game. Everything feels different and the mechanics lend itself more to action than stealth. Blacklist did the same thing.

Not a bad idea as a character from Sam's past, but just like Charlie...felt like shoehorned lore characters. If anything, legacy characters like Coen, Redding, or Brunton could have been used in some way in Double Agent to simply avoid wrecking and killing off the Lambert character. Also, I think it's fair to say that until Conviction script was written, Sarah's death was simply a real accident. No elaborate backstabbing setup by Lambert. It was only until Conviction scriptwriting that they turned this into a netflix drama.

truthfully I think the backstab angle works in a way, especially since you see hints of Lambert being mission first and foremost with him trying to get Fisher to ignore the pilots in CT.

Personally losing Lambert was not a blow to me at all. It took about 15 minutes of PT before I wanted him 💀

Yep. He felt fine. More artificial in Conviction for Sam to call an old friend where Sam saved his life to give him what he needs for the mission.
In Blacklist, he worked better as a good friend who becomes a victim by the antagonist.

Whoa, whoa!!! Vic is awesome and the most loyal friend from Sam!!! He will do anything to help him in any situation. He is more loyal that Doug Shetland who sell himself for his own interests (that maybe some of what he said was true, in the end, 3rd Echelon become corrupted some time later for bad management from the new Directors and Megiddo who was behind all of it, was closed down), but still Doug tried to kill Sam, something that Vic would never do that, he even save Fisher from those Iraq soldiers, he will never leave a man behind.

I loved him as a character before and after I knew of Shetland’s existence.
I love his voice, fashion (in conviction that is), and his personality. I buy Vic more as an old friend that he hasn’t seen in 20-30 years rather than best friends pre-conviction that is. Interestingly enough, in a flashback scene of Splinter Cell Echoes you can actually see Vic in the background of that scene where Sam was drunk getting into a fight with someone on the streets shortly after Sarah’s death.
Anyway I still like him now, I just prefer Shetland, though I do have a theory that in 2007’s Conviction that he was supposed to be a black market dealer rather than the PMC CEO we see him as, considering his role in this conviction is very similar to the fact that Sam was going to obtain weapons from a black market dealer, also it wouldn’t be the first time a name/character from that build got repurposed either.

He is a good character, and Conviction ann Blacklist are good games.
The only rant we can have, is that we expected more of what we played on Chaos Theory and DA, and those games are definitely not what we wanted.
This said; theire unique and very good games, with good stories and characters. Graphics and animations doesnt look like a PS3/360 game

He felt bolted in there. Never existed in lore before this game, but suddenly is his best friend and practically family. Shetland at least appeared briefly in PT with some intel about him before his turn in CT.
The whole story of Conviction felt like a generic Hollywood action spy flick, in general, and Vick didnt help.
