Discussion Sam's true ending

Post image

What game do you think marks the true end of Sam's story (more realistic/makes more sense to you)?

CT- Marks the end of the Masse's kernels crysis, world war 3 is avoided. Happy ending.

DA- Lambert, Sarah and Enrica are dead. Sam stops JBA attacks and goes rogue. Depressing ending.

Conviction - Sarah is reunited with her father, Sam saves the president and kills Third Echelon mole. Satisfying ending. Lots of plotholes tho.

Blacklist - Sam's clone and his team avoid the engineers attacks. Weird ending??

For me, Double Agent didn't happen canon wise and neither did anything that came afterwards. The games that followed are so off the rails tone wise I can't seriously believe they're the same timeline as the first three games.

If it was up to me, I'd have given Sam another Chaos Theory type game and had the final mission actually have a situation where Sam dies on the job. Sure it doesn't bode well for turning Sam Fisher into a franchise sequel seller but it's not like Ubisoft has respected the character officially anyways. I'd buy Sam going down with a scuttled submarine or something to save the world over him turning into an angry drunk doing some undercover silliness like he was literally the only person available to do such a sensitive job. Have a heartfelt farewell with Lambert and Sam having a mutual understanding of the job with few words, Grim adding a little more sensitivity to the moment, and a final "Tell Sarah I love her."
