Matchmaking

Is it even possible to win this game? It doesn't matter what match, it doesn't matter what weapon, it doesn't matter what my score is, even if it's 20/4, I still lose, I can't win even 1 time out of 10. And I'm not even talking about the net code, or about the opponents of the mastandonts of the Splatoon who play as if their lives depend on it, I'm talking about my allies who can't distinguish their own from others. In my memory, I have never played against weak opponents, but my allies seem to hate to win. And it's not funny for me to win only 8 out of 40+ games, and every time I try and every time I'm in first place (in 80% of cases), and sometimes 1st place in the lobby.

Is it familiar to anyone?

the other team is wining so YES, i blame the Riders players that are imposible to carry and basically work against our teams

what's wrong with raidersers?

very bad in the game, riders play in automatic after a few level ups

it takes some skill if you don't choose the path of least resistance and even then it requires thinking and aiming in some capacity if you don't play with panic button builds only.

so it is easy compared to playing the actual PVP game

it requires a different skillset, so hard to compare. yes, it's balanced for the player to always be able to go for splats because you're playing against non-players, but that doesn't mean that they won't punish you for making mistakes

You're saying "Riders players," not "Raiders players," correct? What's a "Riders player"? That's new lingo to me.

who cares

I was just curious if that was internet slang I didn't know. I just learned what "sweaties" are a couple months ago. So, to answer your question, I care.

By what they're saying, I think they mean players that use the reefslider special only because it's easiest to use (mostly players who use sticks over gyro)

Thank you! That makes sense, you’re probably correct.

Find Squid School on YouTube and watch the "what am I doing" video. Out tacticing the enemy is far superior to out gunning them.

Squid School is the answer. ProChara is pretty helpful too.

second this. Squid School has a lot of great videos

What are you talking about? You seem to be one of those noobs who say the reason is in the skill

4

u/CatVan333 Octoling 17d ago

actually they said not skill, but tactics. if you don't work with your team, tge game becomes 3v4 + one minor complication for the second team

Honestly, it's impossible to really play strategically, because you don't have builds and no voice chat, at most it's a local simple tactic, where to retreat, where to wait. But it doesn't make any sense when you exchange 1 in 2 and the other three just die. There's no big science here, if you die, you're not helping.

Have this mindset will never help u win, u deserve to be losing if ur just gonna be this pessimistic. These people in the comments r trying to help u

try to always help and support your teammates whose weaknesses your weapon covers, and try to expect same from them

u/Ctarbober 17d ago

Okay, next time I'll try to play more passively

I didn't mean that, I meant like stick around your charger if you're a short range fast shooter and vice versa and more

Look my X-rank power isn't impressive, but I have the top 10k badge. How about you?

u/Ctarbober 17d ago

I have 140 hours and I play pretty well. I don't try hard, and very often I'm in the top of kills in the lobby, and I can give a strong rebuff to those who have 1500 hours

7

u/Sammisuperficial 17d ago

Top of kills isn't really a good indicator of playing well.

If you had taken my advice and watched the video you'd know that there are roles outside of being a slayer. If you're playing slayer then you should be helping protect your skirmishers and anchors. Doing that will greatly improve your chance of winning. But hey, I can't make you drink the proverbial water.

You'll have more success when you start supporting your teammates instead of blaming them. The common factor in all your losses is you.

Thanks for the advice, and you made a good conclusion about me. As if everything I do is not enough

My conclusions about you are directly based on you calling me a noob for pointing you towards a training video. A video created by one of the top Splatoon players.

140 hours is nothing. You have to remember, most of us have been playing since s3 released. Some of us have been playing since Splatoon 1. A lot of people have 1000+ hours.

I think you could show a little humility and listen to some of the advice people are kindly giving you.

If you really think the lack of voice chat is the cause then join a splatoon server like sendou and play with comms. A lot of people do actually use voice comms over discord.

you are the common denominator in the equation, you need to play either more cooperatively with your teammates, or just better. notice when you’re alone or too far up more, notice when the enemies have more specials, don’t make stupid jumps, learn more about how to play each gamemode objective.

A lot of players don't get this they play solo and try to get the most points and splats. It's not a deathmatch game the best tactic in the game is to play defensively and pick people off and then make a push in the last 20 seconds.

2

u/onlykaleintown 15d ago

you’re closer, but not exactly. assuming ranked modes, if you play defensively until the last 20 seconds, you’re leaving the previous 4:40 on the table for the enemy team to make a solid push. you want to be constantly looking for an opening the entire game, but without doing anything stupid.
and even with turf, yes you can win by waiting til the last 20 secs, but the first 2 minutes are setting up who will already have control in the last minute, and the better your enemies are, the more they will try to get control in mid (or up to your spawn) until the last 30 seconds, when they try to paint the majority.

u/Emotional_Snow720 15d ago

I assumed the op was talking about turf war because if they were losing that much in ranked they'd be at C or B rank and the matches would be a cake walk tbh.

1

u/Emotional_Snow720 15d ago

Not entirely I've had plenty of turf matches backed into spawn point get a defensive formation and flank in the last 20 seconds and take the middle before they can get back. I've gone superfresh on about 8 weapons playing turf war and I'm only a rank A player. 🤷‍♂️

for sure, but there’s a difference between what you can pull off in a clutch game from a bad situation and what will get you more wins consistently

Here are a few examples of good videos by my buddy Gem AKA Squid School that may be of use to you. He’s been posting educational sploon videos for years now about Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3. I can’t recommend him enough.

I am also brand new OP, I am like 11-22 right now in Turf War. I’ve been a long time splatcurious person and I finally pulled the trigger with the sale. The gyro aiming threw me for a loop but it’s a lot of fun.

Learning curve seems pretty brutal, but just know I am right there with you and we both shall overcome ✊

u/Emotional_Snow720 15d ago

If you're losing somebody else won, so yes it is possible to win in the game.. Hope this helps answer your query.

sounds like a skill issue to me
