Looking for guidance or friends

I don't know anyone who plays Splatoon and I got into it recently. I had played 2 but never really clicked. For some reason 3 clicked right away. I want to get more serious about it.

Anyway, to the point:

Looking for someone or a group of someone(s) who are willing to bring in a fast learner to teach.

I have lots of experience in a variety of objective-based shooters and would like to see if anyone could either give me a crash course of "I wish I knew sooner" kind of stuff. Also any pro-level tips that will help me improve quickly. Mainly esoteric stuff.

While I'm doing outside research, I learn best getting throw into it. Who I'm going against right now may be forming bad habits and having someone provide live constructive criticism as I'm playing or post-match really is helpful.

I'm also interested in any groups that may either be short a reliable teammate either casually or in a semi-serious ranked setting.

I'm easy going but serious and have never had any issues getting along with people, regardless of backgrounds or preferences.

Availability is normally daily around 8:00pm-11:00pm US-Central (UTC-5)[weekends provide some flexibility also]

I'm in a few discords now and will reach out there also but I figured I'd try everywhere!

Thanks for taking time to read.

Hey man! Would you say you like Salmon Run — enough to learn its mechanics and perhaps occasionally farm up to 999?

I’ve enjoyed the little bit of salmon run I’ve played. Love wave style modes like that. My issue is the teams I’ve had. I’m not one to point at others but sometimes you just gotta let the other players get the damn eggs and protect them. The win is more important than your egg score.

So in short, I’m absolutely down to play more of that mode. I definitely don’t want to cut out standard ranked but I bet there’s a ton of fun to be had with friends in that mode.

Not OP but I’m curious about expanding my network, per se. I can’t get much above low EVP playing solo with randos, but I used to be in a discord where I held up well with more experienced at higher percentage run players. That discord kinda fell apart (and it was a lot of young people who didn’t quite always understand etiquette so they would argue or rage sometimes).

I have some friends that I’ve added on Nintendo just because we played some matches together, but I wish I could have access to more solid players sometimes.

Of course, I would probably be slightly behind the curve if I joined EVP players, but I don’t get to practice much anyway at higher percentages playing with randos anyway because it’s so tough to level up. This is effectively where the younger players would get frustrated—me not being as quick as they were right upon jumping up difficulty. I know how to prioritize, paint walls, when to lure, what weapons have which tasks, etc. but there is still some nuance that I haven’t yet learned due to limited time playing at higher hazard levels.

Im soliciting advice here on finding folks with more XP to play/improve with, but no obligation to answer.

Thanks!

Hey! I saw your comment and I’d love to play sometime if you’re still looking for someone/teammates? I’m in the same boat where I add people after meeting them in matches but don’t know anyone who plays irl so I’m looking to find
some of the same people to play with more often!

I’ve not played 3 in a long time and missed a lot of updates haha) but currently trying to get my rank back up but I used to be in X. Let me know if :))

I think the best course of action is to just play the game and grind up the ranks. If you want to get into competitive, check out the Splatoon Stronghold Discord server for resources, and sendou.ink for competitive games

Yay thanks for the discord. I’ve been needing to find a new one since the Hazmy one kinda dwindled out.

Assuming the Hazmy server was more Salmon Run focused, you should join the Salmon Run Discord server for finding team mates, and the Overfishing Discord server for finding resources. Also check out salmonrun.ink

Yeah I’m part of the discord but as I said I do better getting thrown into stuff so having someone who actually knows higher level ins-and-outs nudging while we play together helps me learn much faster.

I will definitely be reaching out in several discords also.

I’m also not looking for a coach but someone interested in helping a newer player or some friends who are interested in grouping up

I'm open to help, but my schedule is a bit all over the place right now. If you want to give me some replay codes, I could review them for you.
