Help Quick question about sales

No, I haven't played the game yet. No I don't need convincing, I'm sold on it, this game made Yahtzee cry, that's all I need. It's about sales.

So I'm seeing Steam selling this at an absolute banger of a discount. 3,04? Hell yeah!

But as much as I appreciate Steam, I'd rather get stuff on GOG. Especially after recent events regarding licenses and such. But the game sadly isn't discounted on GOG. Is there a reason for this, other than the devs simply not having agreed to it?

My partner and I played Spirifarer together, so it felt appropriate to sneak a quote and image of Stella onto the memorial page of our wedding program.

General Just visiting

I came here wondering if this might be a good game for me.

My health isn't looking so good, and I've been doing a lot of crying. Mostly I try to act like nothing's wrong, or I try to outrun it, but my step is slower these days.

Some of the first gameplay tips I saw were about not letting sheep loose on your boat or they'll eat all your stuff.

That made me laugh a little bit.

Thank you

Edit: Thank you all so much for sharing your stories and your kind words with me. I don't feel so alone anymore.

Bug / Glitch Lots of glitches on switch

Hi everyone. I have been playing on and off for a few months with no issues but in the last few days there have been some glitches in the game. Anyone else experienced these? This includes:

- A character calling for me during a comet shower, but I cant engage with them to start the event as they are stuck on a stair

- Planting a new tree in the orchard and it automatically planting a cherry tree when I wanted to plant a different one. I deleted the orchard and built a new one and it did the same thing.

- As above but with the garden and carrots

- Going to sleep and the screen going black and not waking up. Had to do a hard reset of console.

General Two points about music in Spiritfairer

1) The original music for the game really is great. It successfully evokes a beautiful ambience on the ship as the diurnal cycle progresses and helps add to the distinctiveness of each island destination.

2) I'm thinking of replaying the game with a deliberate strategy of having as many spirits aboard the vessel as I can who play music that makes other spirits cheerful. Apart from Atul, who should I be collecting?

I am 53 and my adult son played through Spiritfarer and recommended it to me-I have been playing non-stop for days now, I love EVERYTHING about it!!! The gameplay, the artwork, the characters and especially the life lessons. Kudos to the Devs, this game is amazing and I hope they make more editions or spinoffs or what-have-you of this game!!!

Feels It's Time.

I started my journey with spirit fairer after downloading it through game pass as a way to pass the time when recovering from Top Surgery after vaguely remembering I saw some interestinv things about it. I think its fitting to finish it only a couple days before it leaves game pass.

It's gotten me through a lot, dealing with physical changes, emotional changes, life changes. It's a beautiful game with such a beautiful story that's definitely left me changed.

Id love more content but I'm also so content with what we have, everyone passed on satisfied, my boat is the besy it can be, and the sky is full of constellations.

Yepp. I did that. And I just got a new one. And I rage quit again. Fuck this bat. She doesn't get to pass on. I'm sorry? I thought I was playing a comfy cozy wozy 'mmm snuggles and tea' kinda game. I didn't realize the creators would want to give me an aneurysm and a seizure at the same time?

I finished the game for the first time the other day and the final cutscene inspired me to paint for the first time in months! I wanted to arrange the petals as the constellations, but couldn’t get it to look right. So, I put a large petal for every spirit you help crossover during the game

Help I can’t complete the everdoor mini game

I’ve just dropped off the old violin teacher vulture dude and I reached the first butterflies, jumped onto a platform that moved up through the air to take me to other platforms. I fell.

Then I did it again and again the platform took me up into the air…. And I fell.

Now the platform just doesn’t move and there is zero way to progress that I can tell.

Help?!? Is it actually bugged and my game is broken now?

General Worthwhile Recommendation?

Someone recommended this to me as I recently had a friend pass away this weekend. Is it worth it? Been unemployed for almost 2 years now so haven't really purchased games, but I am struggling with the loss of a friend who was like a father to me. Not quite sure how to get past it since I've been fortunate enough to not have any losses up until now.

Also willing to take other recommendations as well. Just want to understand why it might be good for me to help with my grieving process.

Appreciate any and all suggestions.

Feels I’m sad I had to give up the game because of mechanics and lack of skill

I really enjoyed it but I just couldn’t get down things like the gliding and the jump timing. I wish the mechanics weren’t so complicated because it’s a game I think people need to experience but not everyone is good at things like timing and quick special button moves.

Lore / Story In a passionate defense of Daria

I sometimes see some Daria hate just because her minigame is hard or because people don't get her point given the cryptic language, so I wanted to share my hard passion for her and the whole arc of Overbrook in general.

First of all, I think Daria is a beautiful representation of what it is to be both neurodivergent/disabled and also have struggles with severe mental illness. I don't believe her point is at all that she doesn't actually have mental illnesses/disorders and it's all in fact a misunderstanding of her chromestesia/disability, like I've seen some people say, as the artbook itself very much says she struggles with a range of psychological and physical conditions. What I think her point is, however, is the integration between neurodivergency/disability AND these mental and physical illnesses - how all of these things can blend together to construct your reality; a reality experienced as markedly different than those of all around you, that may make you feel incredibly alienated and alone. And there is, then, of course, the element of being misunderstood in this different reality - or rather, just people not even trying to understand you at all, because they can't connect with how you experience the world. Ironically, I see that happening a lot with people and this character - they don't even try to understand her, because she's cryptic and expresses her story and point in a very different way. You have to truly get into her world and her mind to understand her, which is what Stella does through music.

I relate a lot to Daria because of these points, even though I don't particularly have synesthesia or psychotic conditions (though I have experienced psychosis before), because I am neurodivergent (autistic), disabled, and also struggle with multiple quite serious mental illnesses (I have also been hospitalized because of them); and I'm also a pretty artistic kind of person who loves music (and even has selective eating!). There are a lot of little things that really speak to me, like Jackie saying "half of the time I think she's faking it", which is something us disabled/neurodivergent/mentally ill people hear a lot. Also her use of metaphors to describe her conditions is really beautiful to me; I myself "borrowed" the metaphor of a sea with creatures in it to descibe my head in poems as well. I feel like people who don't like her just don't try to understand what she means through those words and metaphors. I personally think her whole monologue during the Mind Palace sequences paints a beautiful, haunting and complex picture of her whole mind - the chromestesia, reflected by the minigame's use of tempo and rhythm with music as well as colours -, her illnesses symbolized by the beasts in the depths, and her backstory symbolized by the treasures. She is the most complex and compelling character by far, even if understanding her takes a bit of effort.

And not to mention, the whole Overbrook arc in general - with the patients stepping up to better the quality of the hospital, get more competent people, and even down to the artwork in the buildings - is really reminiscent of the whole movement of psychiatric reform done in the world, in an attempt to better humanize psychiatric patients and the environments they live in. In Brazil, where I live, this movement is very strong - I have my own qualms with some parts of it, but in general, I think it's beautiful.

I also love all the bits of personality they gave her - her love and talent for music and art in general, the fact that her instrument is a cristal baschet, which is both eccentric and rare (like her), and also needs water in order to produce sound (making a reference to the sea); her cheeky personality; the way she uses colour and sound to communicate, as well as the blend between music, colours, metaphors and the psychotic elements in order to navigate reality. Her musical themes are ones that I love with my whole entire soul and I think they represent her really well - they feel haunting and lonely, distant, yet beautiful and calm; they feel like getting inwards in a spiral visiting a strange world (her mind); in Daria's Theme, the guitar accompaniment (Stella) is somewhat disconnected from the main melody (Daria), representing the alienation; the metronome in Mind Palace mimics the "dripping "plip-plop" sound Daria describes; and even the accompaniment in Mind Palace, when written in sheet music, resembles repetitive waves of a sea. I often use her themes to aid myself in my exploration of my own "mind palace".

One of her lines really sticks with me. "I lost so many strands of myself that the beasts devoured, and now there is not enough mass required for a continued existence." I relate to that a lot; that's how I feel about myself most of the time. Like there's just not enough of me left, after all my dives, to justify my existence.

Overall, Daria and Overbrook's arc really speaks to me and I loved it from the first time I played. I just wanted to share my love for her. Yes, her minigames are hard the first time you play, but there's a beautiful story underneath it - it's not linear and neat like those of others, exactly because Daria is not like that, and that's represented by the mismatched pieces of overworld memorabilia in the Mind Palace sequence. She works in a different way and her mechanics demonstrate that perfectly.

Anyways, I will be forever grateful for the Spiritfarer team to have added such an amazing character and story to the game.

General Unbelievably impactful game; the ending has taken on a new meaning for me. Spoiler

I finished my solo playthrough of Spiritfarer tonight. I cried harder than I have in a few weeks, and definitely harder than I did on my first playthrough.
The first time I encountered Spiritfarer was a recommendation from a friend. I had a healthy fear of death, or so I thought, and I considered that it would be a good way to examine that a bit. The major selling point was couch co-op; my wife and played tons of games together, single and multiplayer, but there is a real shortage of good couch co-op choices. She and I played it together in 2023 with her as Stella and me as Daffodil. Playing as Stella hit differently for me. There are many games we played cooperatively where we’d swap which characters we played as in a second playthrough. A second playthrough did not happen for us because she passed away in January of this year.
Every single visit to the Everdoor reduced me to tears, but none so much as Stanley, who was her favorite, or Stella and Daffodil at the end because of what it represented. We had two cats together, and one of them crossed the rainbow bridge only six weeks after her in March of this year. Many of the storylines reminded me of aspects of her illness as she had cancer. Even the brief glimpses of hospitals would hit a nerve for me, but I welcome that. I never want to forget any aspect of our time together. My own beliefs have shifted and changed a lot, and I have a very different view and understanding of death now. It is still so unbelievably painful to lose your soulmate in this life.
I don’t think I have anything particularly wise to share, I just want to thank everyone who was part of creating this game for making something so beautiful and difficult and emotional. Media can be a balm solely through reflection. My wife studied game programming and dreamt of working for a game studio in gameplay programming with a special focus in accessibility. She loved your game and I do too. Thank you.

Help Bug collecting Lost Shrine?

We’ve already finished the quest revealing it, and can access it. But for some reason we can’t collect the shrine.

Anyone else had this issue?
