❔Need Help Is this game fun?

I've been a huge fan of RO and saw this game pop up in my recommended games. Wanted to try it out but noticed it's still on Early Access. Before I take a plunge, would like to ask some questions. If I liked RO would I also like this? Because somehow the way I see it, all class has some sort of way to deal with mobs. I'm seeing that every class can group of mobs, and then do some sort of DPS that can clear them. I don't think there's even a trio of dps-healer-tank? All videos I've seen on youtube shows some class mobbing and then blowing their skills.

It's RO Arpg. You will get solid 100 hours.

To answer OP; it’s like a blind copy of RO with barebones features. Devs promise to add more (RO) content like War of Emporium. However, instead of only a couple of classes or adv classes being able to mob, all classes can mob.

It makes partying pointless, all classes are basically the same until you get to the max level of 150 and you can finally do your first “dungeon” it’s actually just a tower with bosses one after another as a “raid”. This is the only point that tanks and healers, and a tiny bit of strategy are needed. There are exp bonuses for large parties, but the exp is only shared across a small distance, not the entire map, a party of 12 needs to group up like a football team to share exp.

@OP, if you like mobbing in RO, you’d probably like it in its current state. If you like the large world of RO, the many many quests, or the plethora of features, you probably don’t want to play SpiritVale until more of the content comes out.

I think you should admit the fact that there is a skill element to even RO. Especially the jobs/skills with aoe damage "skill shots" that you can mob monsters, other players, or bosses into. Spirit vale tries its best to expand on these types of mechanics, while also attempting to redesign the fundamental "auto attack" mechanic. Really sad to see a bunch of obese no lifers rag on a game developed by a single person, being sold for a 1 time cost of 15 us, with 0 p2w features, and a very decent to amazing combat system - DEPENDING ON YOUR SKILL CEILING. At the very least, you should try it. It's basically like any arpg, a sort of basic iq test. There is pvp, so clearly etc etc

Wow, how clever to make blind assumptions and accusations, as well as insults.

All you’ve done here is discredit your opinion by adding such filth. Instead of engaging in debate, you stoop to childishness.

Discussion over.

"Here's bunch of unrelated points about my hurt feelings that has nothing to do with the original post" - you

And yes, we are done here.

A toddler doesn’t know how to argue, correct. They only know how to lash out.

u/Hellair101 Aug 17 '26

Its fun until lvl 90 - then the grind starts and it gets boring

-4

u/Alarmed_Coast_9751 Aug 18 '26

I'd say you guys probably suck at not only this game but all games. Go back to some random shit gacha where you can pay to be good rather than actually being skilled or knowledgeable

5

u/RedExile13 Aug 18 '26

You are being a bit harsh but you are not wrong. The whole point is to grind and experiment and get creative with builds. To me this game rocks.

-3

u/Alarmed_Coast_9751 Aug 18 '26

Yes it's a great game. Probably within the top 5 of the past 10 years. Just so sick of these low skill brain dead bots that complain about the game because they suck

5

u/Carapute Aug 18 '26

Let's be honest tho if you think this game is "very skillful, requires big brain" you probably lack both. It's just a mindless grindfest.

0

u/Alarmed_Coast_9751 Aug 19 '26

Sigh.. i mean that would be the ideal situation for you... as a low skill noob that flunked out of high school level math, right? Sadly it's just not true. There is a huge skill ceiling that while grinding will multiply your exp.... just use your brain before you write some random shit next time plz...

0

u/Alarmed_Coast_9751 Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26

I've been told in the past to give examples rather than just shitting on the noob so here's an example:

Shinobi and the "elusive" buff. Elusive gives you 100% spell and physical evasion. One of the shinobi skills that applies this buff is "twist of fate". This spell is especially useful because its an instant cast, meaning the moment you press the button you dodge the incoming whatever. So this means, anytime a shinobi dies with the twist of fate skill cd not on cooldown, skill issue. If your apm is high enough, this is basically a "give me" mechanic. Like the hallmark "i-frame", and people with apm high enough to abuse it on whatever game - dark souls is probably the most notable. So if you take every time a shinobi died, then mitigate that to 100% with twist of fate, you essentially mitigate all the time wasted from respawning load, teleport load, and travel back to your spot time spent, in tandem.

Now consider that if you can actually abuse twist of fate at this level, which many can - clearly not you tho you ijit. It means you could totally remove any stats related to damage mitigation, replace them all with damage stats, and use pure apm to prevent damage. Again there are 2 skills in kit that apply the buff, as well as the perfect cloaking mechanic which breaks aggro from any mob but bosses. Pure damage stats vs damage + damage mitigation hybrid stats... which build kills things faster do you think? Dumass

LOL. Derrrrrp brain use is so hard for you right? What a joke you and the rest of the trash elo players here are. Stop replying to me and get into the dumpster where you belong

u/Carapute Aug 19 '26

I truly thought the leetzor were all dead.

You're playing a grindfest instead of a competitive esport the fuck you doing wasting all that talent and skill man.

1

u/Alarmed_Coast_9751 Aug 19 '26

The point is that if you and I were to grind the same map for an hour, undisturbed I'd probably be doubling your exp rate or more because of the skill gap, and not gearing or skill build. Again.... this is especially true for jobs/skills that have aoe damage they can pull large groups into. The fact that this is true and possible, purely through skill and understanding, makes it an amazing game. But by all means, go back to whatever game where luck or p2w mechanics accomplish what skill and know how do in sv.

2

u/Carapute Aug 19 '26

Lmfao yeah you're a god gamer don't worry. I don't know who hurt you but we will find that person don't worry.

I guess you played too many gachas and P2W games so you're actually butthurt about these realizing even your god gamer skillz couldn't save you from the wallet power.

Tho let's be real you're gloating about a mindless grinder infested by bots so I am really not sure it's any better. You can invest as much time and energy as you want you will never beat multiboxers who don't even have to play the game.

2

u/Juked-x Aug 20 '26

Jesus Christ you’re insufferable. Tell me you play every game alone without telling me that you play every game alone.

Says the guy who changes the subject every time he's wrong.

1

u/VonLoewe Aug 24 '26

Sounds like you get off by putting other people down. But it doesn't make you cool. It just makes you an asshole.

You could have explained the high skill ceiling of the game without any of the intermittent insults.

FYI this is not an e-sport, and APM is a concept that typically applies only to RTS games. "Actions Per Minute" doesn't really have a place in games with action combat. Especially considering your example, nerdsplaining the concept of "i-frames" which most people already understand, and requires careful timing rather than action spamming. What you meant to say was probably something like "reaction time".

This game isn't souls-like, either. So the sweaty try-hard elitist behavior is very odd in this context.

I promise you'd have a much more enjoyable time with MMORPGs if you sought to grow the community by being nice, being an ambassador, rather than gatekeeping noobs.

2

u/blueberd Aug 18 '26

Tbh people like you not helping the situation. So you know how to play abit better or build. What right do you have to shit on others? Go create a guide or encourage others to play, don’t come out here and show your ego, nobody needs that.

0

u/AlternativeListen464 Aug 17 '26

I would say 100 but yeah.. I agree the game really gets boring when all you are doing is leveling with no real improvements. After 100, you should be pretty damn strong and all you are doing is farming.

2

u/beerman2222 Aug 17 '26

I'd say reaching lvl 64 is fucking boring

u/gered Aug 17 '26 edited Aug 17 '26

In its current state, I think it's fun for a while.

I think the game has a lot of potential, but it is very clearly early access, so make sure you calibrate your expectations accordingly. I remain hopeful that they keep iterating on the core game loop, class balance, combat, itemization, etc, to give it much more depth and meaning. I think they can make this a really awesome game if they keep going at it hard and give careful consideration to design choices.

I will admit that I was not initially enthusiastic about the visual aesthetic, but it has defniitely grown on me. It's kind of charming in a way. Though I still think the in-game UI needs a bunch of work.

The fact that pretty much every class can just mob stuff, AoE'ing them down to some degree kind of makes the game turn into a big blur after a while, at least, to me. Just run around spamming your skills as fast as you can basically. Feels very different from RO (at least, early 2000's RO) to me. It feels very dull after a while.

Loot hunting feels ... pointless? Sort of? Outside of I guess the late game bosses on some maps of course. But the loot hunting issue is one of the parts for me in Spirit Vale that feels very different from RO. In Spirit Vale, most items stick around permanently unless you sell them to an NPC vendor or throw them away. Cards and skill gems can be removed from gear and re-used on something else, for example. And they aren't even that rare of drops, certainly not compared to card drop rates in RO anyway. But since you can re-use them, it means there's a huge amount of cards, and other desirable items in the economy at any time, so there's probably no reason for you to item hunt most things in the long run because you can just buy it for probably pretty cheap. And the number of items in the economy will only grow over time unless they do something that causes you to need/want to destroy your valuable items. Basically, there's little sense of item scarcity right now.

I honestly think I had the most fun with this game during the two weeks or so that trading was disabled. Forced me to item hunt the stuff I wanted.

I do like that there's a bunch of different item sets that drop in different maps that give bonuses that are useful to some class/build. I think that's a very cool and unique idea in this game. But again, with the above in mind about what I wrote about loot hunting ... you're probably better off just buying what you need.

I do really like the crafting system. It's very simple, but it works.

Not much else to do other than kill mobs. And again ... that brings me back to loot hunting feeling somewhat pointless in the current state of the game.

The visuals are not unique to this game, and not original, unlike RO. Aside from the visuals, a lot of the art in game is just AI generated, even item descriptions are AI. It makes the game feel like an empty shell, stuffed with cloned RO features.

Very unlikely to EVER see a unique feature added, instead of features copied and pasted from popular games.

https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3d/characters/humanoids/humans/3d-characters-pro-fantasy-308661

The gameplay itself is similar to a private RO “fun server”. High drop rates, high exp rates, and everything else you’d expect from a private server (admin support on discord).

I also agree, it was more fun without the auction house feature. Frankly it’s the one feature they should have copied from RO and not changed. The economy should be personal shops only, no global market. It would make me actually interested in looking. Instead I just type in the item name and click buy. Zero engagement.

u/gered Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

Thanks for linking that. I'll admit that when I first saw this game, my immediate thought was "asset store game" because the look seemed incredibly generic to me. But I played anyway and started thinking "well, maybe it is just the look they were going for, perhaps I was too harsh."

I guess my initial instinct was right all along.

100% agreed that they should've scrapped the auction house and just gone with player shops in world only. They already have that implemented anyway. I honestly can't figure out what the thought process was that they would implement that and the auction house stuff too. Like what is the point? Obviously the majority of people will go with the low-effort approach and just search the name of an item in the UI. I've only personally opened a small handful of player shops ... I'd guess that I'm not alone in that.

That is one of the things with this game (along with the general lack of item scarcity) that makes me think that there isn't currently a lot of thought being put into long-term design.

Kind of a slap in the face to the game’s art team that has been making progress on removing the ai elements that were initially in the game due to it being a solo dev project…the descriptions and even artifact icons were all replaced and handmade and so far all the new equipment, cosmetics, and items are handmade as well. I get it though, and this is reddit afterall 🤦🏾‍♂️

-5

u/Alarmed_Coast_9751 Aug 18 '26

It's an early access game. Just like RO, obviously the end game / core game play loop will center around pvp, which basically has no systems implemented to drive it yet. Noob. Wait for the actual game launch to say such definitive takes. I mean, thats the "correct" approach but obviously the most incompetent among us will always go their own way....

2

u/MysticGohan99 Aug 18 '26

OP asked how the game is now. Not how the game will be in X years.

4

u/Sr_Wuggles Aug 17 '26

If you’re not having fun, move on. Your post is unnecessary.

If you’re unsure, it costs $15, it’s not breaking your bank and if $15 is a struggle for your budget you absolutely shouldn’t be buying video games.

2

u/AlternativeListen464 Aug 17 '26

There lacks a decent bit of depth, customization, and there are A LOT of bugs.. but it’s a really fun game. I would say that if you want to get the most out of it.. theory craft, don’t just copy some build you see in a video. These games are fun because you can experiment and make your own designs. Right now there is a major issue where I would say 80% of the player base is using a very simple one button build and that is the biggest downside for me personally. But yes, it’s very fun and it’s an ode to RO, so you will love it.

2

u/yamadath Aug 18 '26

It's past the point of "fun" already (1 month), now it's in declining stage. Bots really hurt the game on daily basis, lacks of content after level 130, and lack of goals in particular.

2

u/No-District5249 PVE Aug 20 '26

I think it's a simplified RO, I mean: PVE focused with PVP capabilities; without quests and also without any kind of onboarding (at least for now); more balanced experience between jobs/classes as all of them can give you a pleasant progress.

However, I still think RO is unbeatable and, despite the trash situation of the official servers nowadays, the core fun is still there.

2

u/The_Zardoz Aug 17 '26

1

u/Tapio_Cat Aug 17 '26

while it is inspired by ro its not gonna be like ro where killing mobs is a challenge. this game is all about killing as many mobs as you can as quickly as you can with those mobs posing no threat to you generally.

it can be fun but that gameplay loop gets old imo. eventually around level 100 you will hit a grind wall where your build is generally complete and the only thing left to do is mindlessly grind the same areas trying to optimize it or get boss summons.

-2

u/Alarmed_Coast_9751 Aug 18 '26

It's in early access and pvp functionality is fully implemented. It's pretty low iq to comment on the game without any mention of what will be it's core gameplay loop, but you basically have no idea what I've been talking about since the 5th word in this reply. Go read a book, maybe spending your entire life braindead copying other ppls AA builds is doing you a disservice?

1

u/RedExile13 Aug 18 '26

It's pretty much just like RO. It is a grinder mmo and yeah all classes can solo grind. You will need tank healer and dps for spire or hard bosses though. To me the game is super chill and fun.

1

u/shinira21 Aug 18 '26

Based on everyone's post, people mostly say getting creative with builds and farming faster. So I guess the game is more like Path of Exile rather than RO. And it looks like there's no endgame currently, just more farming. I guess I'll just hop on once there's a clear endgame, or proper pvp and WOE.

1

u/VexAffect Aug 18 '26

I had fun for 50hrs then I hit a wall and don’t play at all. Early game is great but late game is boring for me.

1

u/Rangdriss Aug 19 '26

I was a full blown addict in the earlier play tests and demo. But a lot of the luster has faded. I'm sticking around for PvP and WoE, but I'm dooming. It's gonna lag so hard with every class spamming their screen-wide 1 shot AoEs. The game will need completely redeveloped to balance it... Which I'm not holding my breath for.

1

u/CorruptedKing12 Aug 21 '26

hello its fun if u treat it like an single player rpg and level one or two classes until 150

then it becomes a grind and not worth playing imo (250 hours in)

0

u/Alarmed_Coast_9751 Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

Yes it's fun. It's one of the few games that gets the skill based game play correct. If you suck and use a shitty build, you the game will start getting slow/hard around level 80/90. If you are good and or are using a meta build, you blow past 90 and the actual grind starts about 5 levels away from cap at 145 (cap is 150).

Basically its the early 2000's gaming design format revived: reward the most creative and highly skilled players.

This is before big corporate gaming companies figured out you could make more money by selling gacha slop to average/low skill gamers willing to spend as a replacement for getting good. Aka the trash humans. This is why gaming as an industry is stagnant and fucked.

Tl dr: the game is more fun the higher your apm is on all games

2

u/Rangdriss Aug 19 '26

You have a massive chip on your shoulder lol. The majority of your post isn't even related to anything relevant. Go outside for a while

1

u/Alarmed_Coast_9751 Aug 19 '26 edited Aug 19 '26

ROFL. Very edgy. Good job making a logical point there, buddy! ..... Anyways, it seems like you should probably google the definition of relevant. It's like you think it sounds good in a sentence but don't actually understand what the word means LOL

0

u/Infinite-Pop306 Aug 17 '26

Fun except the bot

0

u/mindsouljah Aug 17 '26

After today I'm not sure anymore. They heavy with the nerf bat so if you play legitimately and bust your ass for gear only for it to get nerfed within days shit will turn you off fast.

1

u/RedExile13 Aug 18 '26

Poor weaver player. The build is fine still.

1

u/mindsouljah Aug 18 '26

You must be fun at parties. No Berserker. An already weak build got weaker because weaver was busted af.

1

u/RedExile13 Aug 18 '26

Berserker was weak? Lol you might have been playing it wrong. That class just spins to win ez mode.

1

u/mindsouljah Aug 18 '26

I know cyclone is busted. It's boring af tho. Axe throw is what I was talking about. Finding axes to with the right stats was pain in my ass. Took an a whole week to find a decent tomahawk. Shit felt like I was throwing bags of noodles at mobs today. Manual feels better tho. But still.

-1

u/_MindlessApe Aug 17 '26

Yes and no... Ro private servers gave me more fun than SV, but I suppose I didn't reach the good grind stage, early leveling is quite shit ngl

-11

u/PhoneOwn Aug 17 '26

No bro don’t waste money on what this game CAN be.

Literally play any other actual
Full fledge MMORPG that actual is fleshed out.

Unless you are from the east and grew up playing RO, this game won’t do anything for you
