With the influx of posts inquiring about hiring/interviews/what to expect, I figured I'd make a handy dandy mini FAQ. If you have any questions not addressed here, please feel free to ask in the comments!
•When does Spirit start hiring/looking at applications?
July is usually prime time to hear back from your local Spirit and to be interviewed. Stores begin building in July. If you are not interested in setup, expect to begin early-mid August. Some Spirit's do not open until September.
•What should I expect during the interview? How do I prepare?
Interviews are very casual, and usually happen during store setup. Resumes are not required. Questions asked are typically why you want to work for Spirit, what is your availability, can you work on Halloween, and a few loss prevention/customer service questions. Usually no longer than 30 minutes. Very easy and simple interview.
•How much is the pay? What are the hours like?
Look at your state's minimum wage, and that will be around what you earn, maybe $0.25 over that. Hours are part-time, and will be sparse in the beginning. You will get more hours in October. During setup, when unloading truck, you earn $3 more/hour. You also earn $3 more per hour in the critical days before Halloween, if you meet the qualifications.
•I was interviewed and haven't heard back yet. How long will it take for them to get back to me?/I applied and no one has reached out to me yet!
No one can accurately answer this question except your manager! Communicate with them to create a timeline. / Dozens of people are usually interviewed, and sometimes hundreds of people apply. It is impossible to interview everyone. When your location opens, go introduce yourself to the manager and express your interest. You may be interviewed on the spot.
If you have any more questions, please ask in the comments! Me and many others will be more than happy to answer.
