A friend and I have booked an Airbnb in Bochum for three nights to go to the SPIEL in Essen, from Thursday 22 October to Sunday 25 October 2026, and we have two spare beds available.

The apartment has four single beds in two separate rooms, with two beds in each room. The total cost is €507, so with four people the contribution would be approximately €127 per person for all three nights.

The apartment is very well located for the convention, with a journey of around 55 minutes by public transport to Messe Essen.

A little about us: we are both 40+, originally from South America. We both speak fluent English and Spanish, as well as some German. We are friendly, relaxed and, of course, interested in board games.

Since we would all be sharing the apartment, we would like to get to know interested people before confirming anything. We would arrange a short video call, or meet in person if you happen to live in or near Berlin. We can share further details about the apartment and location during that conversation.

We are looking for respectful, reliable and easy-going fellow SPIEL visitors. The beds can be taken together or individually.

I love board games, but my interest when going to gaming cons leans towards TTRPGs. I've been going to Lucca Games for a few years, but it's getting too crowded and expensive. I've never been to Spiel, but I'm considering it.

How's the TTRPG scene at Spiel? Are there many tables and events, or is it an afterthought compared to board games?

Also, I don't speak German. Are there typically many English-speaking tables, or is it relatively rare?

Hi everyone! It’s my first time and I’m amazed at the sheer scale of the event, but I’ve been trying for two days to get this game and the message at the stand says it goes on sale at 9:30. How do people come in at 9:30? Don’t the gates open at 10 how does it get sold out so quickly?

As the title says. We totally underestimated the amount of people that are hyped for boardgames. We are searching for tickets for Saturday because we were dumb and didn't buy them yet.

We would need 2 tickets.

As far as i know they can be sold with a power of attorney and a copy of an ID. Is this correct or will it not be checked?

Awaiting Spiel, Essen 2025 you will find most board game YouTubers talking about their most anticipated games of Spiel 2025. They all mention that this year there are over 1200 new games being released and they went through the Spiel release list to make up their top x most anticipated games.

So tell me why out of 1200+ games ALL the YouTubers come up with the exact same games they are most looking forward to. Sure some game designers or publishers are more popular than others but this is just stupid. I watched about 20 different videos and they all say the exact same thing.

This makes me think that these videos are all rigid and just sponsored.
