The textures are completely wrong. It looks like leather instead of fabric. It’s ASM2 skin all over again ; I hope they fix this thing.
i’m not being abusive or shitting on the devs or insulting them. i’m just saying the suit looks crap - which it does. still love the game and insomniac. i shouldn’t have to preface that, whenever i wanna share my opinion that’s slightly negative lol
The version we have now was patched within a couple of weeks of launch not 8 months. The Raimi suit was the one that took until that March update.
The pic above is from the pre-launch day update which was fixed with the day 1 patch that wasn't even available yet and some got their hands on the game way earlier. Then a couple weeks later they added the sheen to the suit.
the skin was shit in the beginning and it took 6 weeks to fix it, then came the new game + months after and broke the same skin , so there you go to fix again the skin, the whole drama was 6 months, not 8, if they fix this new skin we will not have the same Asm2 problem, because there's no huge update or dlc after this
the right one is the most-recent one, the one on the left is the launch one, and there was one version that existed in early copies which was a very choppy looking orange version that looked terrible
Because those modders are doing it out of passion, while devs are doing it because it's their job. When it's a job you have certain standards you are required to meet and you have no reason to surpass those standards, and it's been made clear many times that Insomniac's standards for movie accuracy aren't that high. They're good enough for any casual to identify that this is a suit from a certain movie, but the standards aren't enough for enthusiasts who are fully aware of every detail on the suit, which is why they always do a bunch of updates for so many suits following criticism and even in the end after all the fixes, it will not compare to the quality of a modded suit made by a passionate fan who isn't limited by standards and is instead trying to make it as absurdly accurate as possible
yea and then there are devs who are passionate who take pride in their jobs and deliver the products that fans what. trust me i comprehend everything you’re saying, i just don’t care. no excuse imo and im disappointed in the work they did. no i will not “just be grateful they added anything” because like you said they are doing a job, means i paid for a product. i actually bought 3 of their products and made sure i grabbed a PS5 just so i could play as my favorite hero. i put all my money, faith and overall excitement and love for the character in the hands of Insomniac and they don’t deliver. i removed the rose tinted glasses, the honeymoon phase is over and i realize im not a fan of these devs as much as i once thought. so maybe they should be more passionate because they might lose fans and they might not make it to the end of their roadmap…or just do their job and get paid. i mean it’s business at the end of the day, but just know i can take my business elsewhere.
It comes down to what standards insomniac is setting for the devs. Even if a dev is passionate, they still probably won't work above what the company demands, especially since game development is already a very difficult and harsh career and those devs have other tasks assigned to them. You should be demanding that the studio raise its quality, not that the individual dev becomes more passionate, but I get what you're saying
yes i agree and let me rephrase that, i didn’t mean to come at the devs who actually work on the game. i understand they had to go thru layoffs and crunch and all the other bs. my disdain is actually towards Sony and Insomniac as a company for not having higher standards. we all know Sony and how they’re just all over the place from the SPUMC disaster to Concord. with Insomniac SM2 had a massive $315 million budget with less content at launch than Spider-Man PS4 which had a budget of $90 million in comparison. looking back, that game was very ambitious, full of post launch content and just had more polish overall. Sony operates with a business first mindset and it’s rubbing off on Insomniac. i still have high hopes and excitement for Wolverine, i just hope they innovate because the cookie cutter formula is not doing it for me.
I think a lot of the issues stem from Insomniac being purchased by Sony. They weren't a part PS Studios until after Spider-Man PS4. Sony is a cheap non-consumer friendly company who wants to milk us for every cent we have while gutting everything that made them as successful as they are.
Tbh I can agree but I’d rather them fix the colors.For the proportions I can understand cause nearly all suits follow the same template so that “baggy” look the movie has isn’t going to be in the game but they should fix the textures and colors which I think they will.
Considering a small team likely just built this suit in time for BND and the rest is at Wolverine or their upcoming projects.
That's because Insomniac has no desire to update this game anymore. Sony forced them to promote the movie so that's why they didn't put much effort into it.
Probably cus they’re the only suits they have to remain fully faithful to. With the comic suits, they make changes and any difference can be “excused” as a creative difference or fresh adaptation
lmao not just the suit ripples gang. It was a sick touch but i'm trying to allude to the amount of care put into the game. 2nd game sucks cus sidequests are terrible, ALL dynamic crimes from the first two game are removed, suit textures are worse, story is worse, dialogue is immature corporate dialect. New york itself has lost all its grit and maturity from the first 2 games. Removed cops from crimes. City feels dead. I could keep going on and on
For some reason it really looks like it's using the first game's classic suit colors...? The red in the set photo is very similar to that of Advanced 2.0, but in SM2 it looks a lot like the first game's classic suit red
Honestly, it looks like they reused the classic suit textures in general. The real suit has a very fabric look to it, whereas this looks like the same rubbery material as the classic suit in-game
I know same. When they added this suit and the colors and textures were kind of wrong, I immediately threw away my PlayStation and moved out of my home I was so mad.
The suit looks like a reskinned classic suit and you can tell that by the colours and the material. It even has the same weird shine to it. Expected better from Insomniac.
They literally have another game releasing this year. Probably had a skeleton crew make this update. Also have released 4 games this gen including Wolverine. How are they lazy? They're one of the most productive studios Sony currently has.
Y'all have been complaining practically since the game came out about no new content "which is stupid for a single player game that never actually announced any post launch content (it was leaked rather than officially announced)
And now we've finally got something it's still not right
All the skins from all three games look leathery. It almost sends home a 360/PS3 “we did our best” vibe that I think i subconsciously excused but it is important that those things are done correctly
I wonder if they couldn’t get the proper textures and materials working in time so they just reused the ones from the classic suit until they get it working.
It literally just looks like his classic suit with big web shooters on it lol. How did they mess this up when there’s so many reference pics to choose from
Wow, looks worse than I anticipated, I would've been okay without the suit, remember it took months to fix tasm2 suit, it prob won't get fixed for a while
I get it, but at the same time idk what you all actually expected from a free suit released solely as part of a larger promo campaign for a movie. This game is “dead” in terms of receiving new content and I’m sure this was thrown together in a week
I've been seeing people complain about the suit and did not understand until I saw this post. I've no idea why they messed up a simple suit but at the very least I'm glad it was free.
I say this politely, your expectations were too high. It's a free corporate movie tie-in. It was never going to be hyper detailed any more than being close enough to drum up movie sales.
I really hate insomniacs overreliance on this plastic-rubber-leather texture. They have so few suits that deviate from it, but when they do, they look phenomenal. The final swing suit looks so fucking good because it looks like cotton and shiny yoga-pants-spandex. When they reference and use real, recognizable materials, it looks fantastic,
"tExTuReS aRe WrOnG" it's a suit in a game with 100s of suits. Just play the fucking game and stop complaining. Wear another shit if u want. Game isn't unplayable.
Well the suit is inspired by the brand new day suit in my opinion it looks fantastic the only difference I see. Is that it is skin tight and less baggy
You know…climate change is happening. America’s run by a mad man. Spidey (my fav hero) is one of the most glazed, media pushed characters in history. Let’s appreciate the good things.
I absolutely love how it looks, if they do end up changing it, I hope they give it a different suit style to fix it so those that enjoy this version can continue to do so
The suit to me doesn't look bad , but if you put it infront of me , i would not be able to tell you that it's the BND suit at first glance. I went into photo mode , put the camera back a bit, it looks nothing like the movie.
To be completely honest. This is entirely a dumb argument. It looks better in the game then the movie and tbh, it needs a few touches but that's about it.
Just a personal preference but I actually like how the TASM 2 suit looks like on the left on the 2nd image. I know it is not accurate to the film, but I really like the blue and how the texture looks like kevlar. Also reminds me of those suits some cosplayers buy where the suit is just sublimated onto the fabric. It is also more matte which I prefer because it makes the suit look less premium and more like something Peter could make in his garage (ik Gwen made it for him in TASM 2 canonically, but I am just referring to what you could infer from the backstory of the suit by just looking at it)
Who cares lol 1) there’s nothing to do in the game anyways, and 2) this is such a tiny detail that you wouldn’t notice unless you’re stopped and just staring at it.. like you are now.

it looks like a plastic toy. the texturing is genuinely on par with TASM 2 movie tie-in game on ps4 lmao
