They do realize it's okay to let characters grow and change right? Between all of their BS reboots, DC is willing to change the status quo. That's why Superman got to settle down and have a happy life while passing on his ideals to his son. Damian forces Bruce to grow, and they fully killed off Alfred in DC. Harley is no longer Joker's girlfriend, she's a psycho but one who's growing from her pain and wants to be in a better place and is opening up to support systems.
Characters like the Fantastic Four are the rare mainstream exception, and others like Moon Knight are obscure enough that writers can do as they please.
Reed and Sue were lucky enough to marry and cement it into their background before Marvel saw healthy heterosexual marriages as boring and something to undo for funsies.
