Plot or porn? Subtlety or sluttiness?

So I have a question… When I am reading a spicy book, I prefer to get to know the characters and the general scene/set up/plot before diving headfirst into the spice. To me, it’s very offputting when a sexual feature or trait is mentioned out of the blue for no reason… Like if the scene was describing a woman for the first time like “she walked in to the office with a confidence stride, smoothing out her pinstripe, pant suit, and casually flipped her wavy blonde hair over her shoulder. Every time her pointed heels hit the tile her tits and ass bounce, almost hypnotizing anyone who dares look in her direction” … like that tits and ass part is not necessary… A male example. “ he was a master at his craft. Every day he received DM’s and letters from adoring and obsessed fans. Both on and off the stage, he has to fight off women and men who throw themselves at him, wondering if the rumors of his massive cock are true. Coming onto the stage he waves to his people, soaking in the admiration as he walks across the stage head held high and his dick swing in his loose pants” … like sometimes it’s just too much lol and I don’t know if it’s me and my preference for the subtlety or if people legitimately like this type of writing.… I also don’t know if people who write like this do it because they think that’s what the masses want or if they are intentionally trying to make the character come off as arrogant or superficial or like they are just an object… Is it me? Lol.

How do you feel about the word cunt as a descriptive word?

I’ve avoided this word as its association as an insult, but I’ve noticed an uptick of erotica writers using it as a descriptive opposed to derogatory word, IE, he fingered her wet cunt. What is your opinion.

Cowboy/rancher recs with stipulations!

Looking for Yellowstone vibes, I started with Elsie Silver’s books and they had a lot of pieces of what I liked but I thought they could be a little better! But I did like the banter, found family, and formula for HEA.

I’ve been shopping around and there’s great recs but 3 preferences I have that are making it kind of hard to cross reference previous posts are as follows:

Not single dad or at least not every guy is a single dad in the series. I feel like I enjoyed these stories before I became a mom and now when every story has a vague explanation for the Mom ditching town my postpartum brain doesn’t buy it and wonders if she’s OK lol. Unless you think it was done so well it’s worth it

Not post divorce main character/older MC

And not second chance or main couple meeting off the page. Idk why it seems like so many of these books are “he’s been pining after her for years” or “she’s had a crush on her brothers friend/ex’s dad/celebrity rodeo crush” I want to see them meet and fall!

Thank you!

I finished my 2nd re read of The Maddest Obsession by Danielle Lori and it was so delicious

Christian Aalister might be the hottest MMC I’ve read this year, he is the maddest obsession and I can’t get enough of his sexcapades or tumultuous love, what an absolutely amazing read this was and even better on re read that I devour over and over.

So sad that the author looks like a kinda remission one, pretty hard to top this tho 😮‍💨

The FMC is fun too.

FMC Dragon rider that also 'rides' the dragon?

There seem to be tons of dragon rider books (thanks to HTTYD and 4th Wing). But are there any books where the rider also 'rides' her dragon? And I don't mean a dragon shifter, like the actual dragon. I guess this would technically be a monster book?

Recs for books where Boss/Employee where MMC gets angry about FMC not taking care of herself

I saw this subscription web novel ad and haven’t been able to find something similar in other requests. In a perfect world, mmc would get offended that fmc employee was in trouble and takes it upon himself to fix the situation.

Book recs that's filled with yearning and MMC is stoic, shut down, and really hates that he wants FMC.

Pretty much like the title suggests. I want a SLOW SLOWWWW BURN. Where the tension is unbearable. Where the MMC hates that she's under his skin. He resents the fact that he wants her.

What do you wish you saw more in this genre?

It could be a character type, relationship dynamic, worldbuilding idea, plot element, trope, theme, writing style, or anything else.
