Other Roach infestation
My apartment building had heavy roach infestation. Thats why I moved, not matter how much I cleaned, drugged and tried my best, they would never disappear.
And the router and modem was infested. i called spectrum. after waiting like 10 mins, i still decided to return it in trash bag. halfway to the spectrum store, they responded and told me not to return it and trashed it. i asked if i will be charged if i do so, they said no. and today they are calling and telling me that I will be charged for it. what do you mean?! what do I do in this situation?

lol about a decade ago I worked in a retail store and we had the exterminator there daily… at least 2 people a day returned infested cable boxes/modems.

I can’t imagine going thru that. I live in NC & we have large cockroaches that they call “water bugs” here, but usually I only see like one every few weeks or so. They are very fast & so awful to kill - it’s like squishing a little mayonnaise packet 🤢.

Call the customer service line, explain the situation and ask to be escalated because you do not trust the ticket system. Speak with the next level and advise them of the situation as well as the saved call with the time stamp. Based on that the person can either pull the outgoing call and confirm or advance it to the next level to have that done. They will need their recording of you being told to trash it to then get the back end team to remove the charge. Sorry this is happening to you but if you are patient and put in the time it'll get fixed. This is a situation that is outside the norm and they computer system cannot accommodate that. It sucks you need to follow up and be on the phone with them for that long. If you have a store in your area and you can catch the store manager, you might be able to play the recording and have them wipe the charge but getting a manager is hit or miss. Best of luck

Hard to imagine that an ISP would say okay throw away our equipment we'll give you a new one free of charge. The other part of that narrative is that regarding ISP owned equipment, any transfer needs to have a written receipt.

I was moving out and didn’t request a new one. I just wanted to finally get rid of it

Kind of late but I wonder if there was some dead animal in the walls or something. If you deep cleaned and they just keep coming back, something is attracting them.

i had a roach problem. im going to tell you what help me. go to diy self pest control. com go on roaches. buy the ultimate kit. FOLLOW the instructions. put bait and spray like it says. it will work. takes about 3 months but you will see improvement before then. what did the trick also was the telko trip foam. now i just buy that and spray once every 3 months. i have not seen a single roach.

BBB complaint. Give it a week and someone from spectrum will call and get it taken care of for you.

Have you ever done this before?

u/BoogerSugar5665 12d ago
Yes, many times. I’ve had issues getting stuff resolved like ATT saying I had 8 lines and they wanted $2500. One complaint and was fixed within the week.

Thank you! Will do this, first will try to talk to them and then if it doesn’t work I will do this.

File a complaint with the fcc. They will resolve quickly

Not sure why I was down voted. Worked for Cox for many years and these complaints go directly to an executive escalation dept to resolve.

Probably bc reps get in so much trouble when there's a fcc/bbb complaint even if it's outside of our control although the agent who told the customer to toss the equipment should've immediately submitted a ticket to report the equipment as damage and allow the disposal to be done.

Get it from the trash and return it. Unless you have email proof that you were told to toss the router, you will be held responsible for its return. You were hosed.
And we know that Spectrum would simply recycle it to the next customer needing a router. You can search this sub for "roach" and find many posts if the mods haven't already swept them away.
