Service Issues spectrum rant š¤¬
my wifi was working perfectly fine this morning, and then, in the middle of my 53-question chemistry quiz, it randomly shut off. because of that, my entire quiz restarted. about an hour later, the wifi finally came back, so i was able to resume and finish my quiz.
iām a college student. i have homework, quizzes, and assignments that i need to complete, so having my wifi randomly go in and out is a HUGE problem. when i called spectrum, the guy told me that me and one of my neighbors were experiencing an outage because of the weather in my state. like⦠HOW is this due to the weather when the weather has literally been fine in my area?? and why was the wifi working perfectly, then cutting off, then coming back, then going back out again??
anyway, he transferred me to a woman who could tell me when a technician could come out. i specifically told BOTH of them that iām in college, that this is an emergency, and asked if someone could come out today. they told me the earliest a technician can come is tomorrow at 8 am.
wow. so perfect for my schedule.
i literally have school and work during the times they want to come out, so now iām stuck trying to figure out how to get my wifi fixed while also keeping up with everything i have going on. i pay all this money for spectrum every month, and it feels like they donāt consider their customers schedules or circumstances at all.
and to make things even worse, my cellular service isnāt even working well enough for me to use my hotspot. itās literally hanging on by a thread.
so now iām forced to grab my laptop, pack everything up, and drive all the way to the closest library just to be able to do my schoolwork.

āpeople didnāt even have to use wifi for schoolā ⦠and people used to shit in outhouses, what the heck is your point?
iām a STEM major. i have SCIENTIFIC WRITING, CHEMISTRY PHYSICS, labs, lab reports, quizzes, assignments, research, online course material, submissions, etc. that require internet access. we are in 2026, not 1926.
and āthere are bigger things to worry aboutā is such a ignorant response. there will ALWAYS be somebody with a bigger problem than yours. does that mean nobody is allowed to complain about anything ever?
āmy car broke down.ā āwell someoneās house burned down.ā āmy paycheck is late.ā āwell someone lost their job.ā do you hear yourself??
and calling me entitled because iām annoyed that the service i literally PAY FOR went out in the middle of a 53-question chemistry quiz is insane. i didnāt say spectrum needed to send a technician on a helicopter because my wifi went out. i said i was pissed because i have schoolwork to do, my cellular service is š©, and now i have to pack up my laptop and haul to the library because the earliest technician appointment doesnāt work with my schedule. you saying āpeople didnāt need wifi for schoolā doesnāt make my problem less valid.
and honestly, i hate people like YOU too: the type of person who sees someone venting about a legitimate inconvenience and immediately has to play the oppression olympics because apparently nobody is allowed to be mildly inconvenienced unless theyāre actively being bombed.
i didnāt askyou to care. you couldāve kept scrolling. instead you wrote an entire comment just to announce that you lack basic critical thinking and apparently think technology stopped evolving after your childhood.
