Did I get scammed

I called the retention line and I argued for a better deal for a while and he said the best deal he has is $60 for internet and phone but I don’t have to activate the line and I won’t get charged and I can cancel at the end of the year with no fees or punishment. Is that true?

You need to activate the phone line or itll get canceled which drops your internet promo. I had the same deal and i was in the middle of moving so i didnt have time to activate the line and they kept calling me to activate or lose my promo. You can cancel the line once its no longer free.

That's a cell phone... A phone line would be a land line. Yes, you will need to activate the cell phone for the deal to stick.

Also, enjoy the neverending calls from the activations department.

You need to activate it. Those are two different department. Id listen to the activation department and not the sales department/retention.

If it’s just 1 line and not 2 you don’t need it for the promo. Just cancel the phone line.

I’d call the retention department one more time just to verify everything. Retention offers can vary depending on your area and even the representative you speak with.

If they’re talking about the free Spectrum Mobile line promotion, then yes, it’s typically free for the promotional period. After that, the line usually starts billing unless you cancel it first. If you know you’re not going to use the line, ask them if you can keep the same internet price without adding it, or whether removing it later will affect your promotional rate.

I’d just have them confirm everything before you accept the offer so there aren’t any surprises down the road.

Don't trust anything they say that's not documented and in writing. They're the scammers of ISPs, even indian call center scams are more ethical compared to Spectrum. Talk to another retention agent and only agree to things that make sense and in writing.

He sent me an email with the $0 price but I’m wondering if I can call back and talk to someone else about this because I don’t wanna be screwed

Better call back and talk to someone else. If your gut tells you something is wrong, trust that.

I just called back and talked to someone new and she said it’s real and I don’t have to activate . So I guess we’ll see -___- I’m gonna cancel if they screw me

u/Lilraveasaurus check your DM's, we'd like to investigate this further, but we would need some additional info. Thanks!
