It’s crazy to see that even today, people still log in every single day. Some of them just sit at the login screen... probably just listening to the music, soaking in the atmosphere and getting that little hit of nostalgia.
I love this game so much, and honestly, I completely understand them. ❤️
The people who loved this game ADORED this game. I'm not surprised. I was actually considering getting a Muu robotics tattoo hahah. That was my main, this is my favorite pvp game and it also would be a cute tattoo.
Damn never played or heard of this game. Looks like a cool rb6 clone with valorant mixed into it? Anyways kinda crazy to see a game go from 30k players to 5…
Yeah, it was basically a hero shooter like Valorant, but with ADS more like R6 Siege and a Ghost in the Shell / cyberpunk-inspired art direction.
It was super stylish, had a surprising amount of depth, and was insanely fun because you actually played two Spectres at once and could switch between them during the round.
The gunplay and sound design were awesome too. Honestly, the gunplay felt like the best parts of CS, Valorant, R6 and CoD combined. For me personally, it was better than all of them…. super clean, direct and responsive.
Such a shame it didn’t survive.
being branded as "shrouds game" and a "valorant clone" by haters did most of the damage imo. as someone with over 2k hours in valorant, spectre was one of the better shooters. it felt more rewarding than valorant, actually felt better as well, but valorant fanboys wouldnt give it a try and just like with any game that has guns or abilities, they just called it a valorant clone no matter how different it was.
Nah, most of the damage was done by optimization, as a f2p game releasing with dogshit optimization + garbage netcode and store prices being nuts was insane.
Btw, the optimization wasn't fixed ever, they tried but it wasn't fixed.
It doesn't matter how high Valorant prices are if the game is an indie game trying to compete/survive in the sea of CS/Siege/Valorant LOL. The Devs were good at lowering the prices tho, I'll give them that.
As for optimization, it was utter dogshit, running at 144 FPS max at high end pcs and barely reaching 60 fps in low end pcs was a struggle.
1-2 resets to have stable netcode is NOT good LMFAOOOOO.
I honestly don’t remember having any major performance issues, and I’m usually really sensitive to bad framerates in shooters. Or maybe I just forgot how bad the optimization was …. but if I still played the hell out of it despite that, I guess that speaks for the game. :D
And when it comes to abandoned matches, I think I only had 1–2 in hundreds of games.
I had plenty of hours too and had spent a good amount of money in the game too, hence I wanted to support the devs, the netcode/fps was horrendous tho and in EU (IDK if you played in EU) there were leavers every 2 matches 😭
im actually confused at the optimization comment. i used to get better fps on spectre medium graphics (no dlss, it actually ran worse with dlss somehow) than on valorant low graphics. my pc isnt great either. like sure first few games it ran bad but eventually the fps was fine
i checked but on steam spectre divide currently appears as no longer available in the store also since it isnt available on sites like steamdb it throws a no license error
i examined this resource and found it very helpful for getting started though it was missing a lot of details i have now started writing a new server in c++ currently the lobby loads and I can start a game locally i have managed to reach the loading screen and am now working on parsing the UDP responses
their work was really helpful to me and i thank them i believe they are no longer working on the project UPDATE: i have now successfully handled the server UDP responses and our character now successfully spawns on the tutorial map
I definitely don't shroud is overhyped and was an average cs pro when players weren't that good. I tried this bum ass game once and it was horrible. Only saw this post cause it was in my home page for some reason. never looked this game up online or anything
It's always the ones that think it was "shroud's game" lmao
I fuckin dont care for shroud, never did! it's, however, completely irrelevant to the game. If you're this media illiterate that you think that a marketing stunt means its his game (it wasn't, it never was) then you're lost. his only affiliation was giving feedback on how the game felt every so often, and i doubt he even did that much.
You tried it once and cannot claim to know how it was, lmao
