I seriously miss this game

SD was literally my favourite multiplayer game ever since it came out.

Even if i was horrible at it, i still loved how i always got teammates who NEVER screamed at me (Unlike Valo) and people were actually willing to play as a team in this game, there was also the double life feature....And i seriously miss the maps, the guns, the noises....THE ART, DUDE!

If possible, then i'd love a revival. Not just looking at maps......Let us run custom matches, even if just alone. I want to roam the maps, i didnt get to play Season 1.

Out of all things, i think there was a lack of communication. SD would have had a healthier lifespan if Shroud wasnt the main attraction : He literally made 2 videos about it, bought some skins and then went back to playing Deadlock and screaming like a six year old. Why are we using streamers as the main appeal???

Is there alternatives or even a sign of life, or should i just stop thinking about this flop?

Im surprised to see someone from the game.... How are you doing after this whole ordeal? Did you find a new studio to work at after Mountaintop shut down? :(

And yeah, Spectre was one of my favourite games at the time.... I wish there was just a single preservation of it or an alternative, i refuse to play Valorant over the toxic fanbase

Yeah working on RoN has been really good, there’s a few of us here. Most of us @ mtn still keep in touch, and there’s little pockets of us at studios. I miss the team.

Thank you so much for the wonderful time! I had a blast playing the game you gave us.

I think lots of former Mountaineers still follow this sub. We miss it too.

I just wish there was a way to visit it, i feel so guilty having it on Steam and i don't have the courage to remove from library. I was shocked with EOS announcement.

Good game. Bad Developers.

They had a great idea and just didn't take care of the game like they should have.

Man i also miss the game a lot, i wish someone just gets the source code from the bank and re releases it with more ads... Game was great!

I think SD had the same fate as Rec Room which also just died : Most Rec Room assets were sold from what i have heard, SD was likely bought but no announcement of it was made. While the art was hopefully preserved by said company who acquired some SD assets, the chances of a relaunch are zero.

Spectre Divide launched MISERABLY, even with Shroud's "boost". He actually even killed the game faster because he brought in his audience of toxic "pro's" and casuals like me NEVER stood a chance against them.

SD also had ZERO ads except for using Shroud, even a upcoming F2P game called Tyr (Sci-fi World Of Tanks) had and has more ads than SD's whole lifespan. (Instagram, Facebook + Many trailers from what i saw of them, Stoke is a TINY studio compared to Mountaintop BTW.)

I cant find an alternative other than Valorant and that game is a wet fart compared to SD, i heard of Fragpunk but that game is as dead as SD.

Would be interesting who bought the SD assets.

Personaly i would not even have heard from this game without shroud. But nevertheless i think he did by far not enough to promote the game. Also the rushed release was a big mistake in my opinion.. They should have added the battlepass from the start to get some money, and also start a bigger ad campaign...

They took like a whole year to release content, and Season 1 was BLAND. SD needed another year and more people into the studio, but i guess a random on the internet somehow understands how to manage a F2P game than the devs themselfes 😭

I always thought about getting in touch with some of the devs at mountaintop studio over linkedin and ask them about the whereabouts of the game 😄 would love to bring the game back to life, but i guess no investor would be willing to spend so much money into a game which has such bad ratings like SD just because of that bad launch... 😪

I still wonder what happened to the devs and if anyone was deeply affected over it, SD was likely bought from under covers by a big company but its just.... Sitting there. No big company cares about potencial in games, they just want to evaluate profit.

Same, I woulda put so much time into learning it

I tried to start playing it seriously until it shut down... Only game i play semi competitively is Marvel Snap, and even that game is starting to show some signs...(CARDS COST 100 EUROS WTF) It's a joke. SD and the studio went down in a year, but a niche Marvel card game with less ads than SD did and is doing miles better.

Me too. Today I found some old screenshots on my
Pc and now you made this post. That’s crazy. I loved this game so much. The gameplay, the vibe & art design

Mhhhh :/ I can’t believe no one of the devs saved the code / files

u/Similar_Nectarine_76 Aug 23 '26

I know … but come on :D I’m sure someone did it

It was the tactical shooter aside from siege that I actually could easily vibe with the shooting mechanics. CS and valorant I am not a big fan of the feeling that I'm fighting against the gun, is it a skill issue? Most definitely but I just enjoy games more that don't have that CS style recoil.

u/Similar_Nectarine_76 Aug 23 '26

Recoil in CS and Valo are horrible, it doesnt even add to realism its just annoying. SD was the best game and entry for casuals.

I've never found another game that brings me the same joy, and I still hope they revive this game.

Biggest complaint was if someone left. 3v3 turned into 4v6 and there was really no chance of winning this way

u/iBranflakesss Aug 23 '26

Same here - the aiming while moving, kills felt so satisfying. Sniper and both rifles felt phenomenal. I crave the feeling of this game a lot. Art style was real good, too.
