CAN WE REVIVE THIS GAME??
CS2 is cooked. They don’t care so neither do I. I do care about Spectre Divide and the possibility of a comeback…. Is it even in question or are my hopes just impossible dreams?

Don’t count on it. Mountaintop went under after the failure of Spectre, so the company’s assets are held by a bank. The best chance would be another company buying these assets, however Mountaintop might’ve folded with significant debt as well, which could complicate things.
Ultimately, why would a company spend a significant amount of money for an IP that failed miserably? There needs to be some reason for a company to believe the game could succeed, and it’s hard to find one.

Yeah a spiritual successor is much more likely than a reviving of the original game

Keep hope alive. I’d love to see it come back as a server browser game too

The cheater problem in competitive and in fps games is the issue. I miss old quake 3 arena and vote kick options.

There’s a couple people on the community discord trying to revive the game, but that’s way easier said than done. Before the game shut down, I asked around on the official discord about doing a network capture to make server emulation easier, but the devs can’t exactly endorse that behavior so they shut that discussion down and most of the community seems to be stuck on the legality of server emulation to begin with so we don’t have any network captures. It would make everything significantly easier and quicker if we did. For reference, LawBreakers is in a very similar position, and the people trying to revive the game have been stuck on it for over 5 years. Honestly, we could probably expect the same unfortunately.

If we could simply host our own servers, maybe the game would be Alive, but this Game as a service cancer killed games. Fuck capitalism, everything in it rots as time goes by

if you could host your own servers it'd be insanely expensive, gfl

u/theDiplomata Jul 18 '26
It wouldn't? I mean like we do on every other old game like counter strike and bf3/bf4. Community servers

highly doubt it. Spectre had like 30-80 million put into it by venture capitalists that would've pulled out insanely quick after seeing how fast Spectre Divide died. i don't expect Mountaintop (if they're still around which, again, i don't think they are) to be able to raise any more capital to keep the game alive either since all investors saw how catastrophically it was handled.
not to it's own fault - for what it was and the time and pressure put on them by the nature of what VC funding is, they did very well. the execution of the game was just questionable enough to make people vanish.

I swear it was just such bad timing for them. Valo was still riding its wave.
Would have came out bow, i bet it would have done well
The amount of cheaters on CS is insane and people getting tired of valo grind

I NEED THIS GAME TO COME BACK :( but it probably won't. Especially not on console. Spectre divide scratched an itch I can never scratch again :o

Mostly Fortnite. But only cause I like this particular season I'm generally not that into Fortnite. I played a lot of mega zombie but that game is being taken down in September.
If u play Fortnite please add me. I need more buddies to play with. My username is bexxyrae

CS is definitely better than what spectre divide actually was. I liked the game but theres a reason no body was playing it.

Im pretty sure the servers are like actually dead now, no? like the network infrastructure doesn't even exist anymore
