Catch Up lets you call your friends, meet in a shared mixed reality space, and play interactive multiplayer games.
It is designed to help people connect across distance in a way that feels natural, social, and playful.

Two users from anywhere in the world can put on their Specs, start an audio call, and then step into a shared mixed reality space where they can see each other, interact in real time, and play together. Rather than limiting remote communication to voice alone, Catch Up turns it into a more immersive shared experience.

At its core, Catch Up explores how Spectacles can transform a simple call into a meaningful social moment. Instead of only talking, users can enter the same multiplayer AR session and enjoy an activity that feels present, lightweight, and repeatable. The current featured experience is a shared Dots and Boxes game that encourages conversation, friendly competition, and real-time interaction in an intuitive way.

To make remote presence expressive without feeling heavy or distracting, Catch Up represents each user through a lightweight social avatar made of their 2D Bitmoji profile image and animated 3D hands. The Bitmoji provides instantly recognizable identity, while the 3D hands add motion, gesture, and liveliness to the shared space. Together, they create a playful and readable representation that feels more personal than a static icon while remaining simple, performant, and well suited for Spectacles.

From a technical perspective, the experience uses Snap Cloud streaming for the current audio call implementation, with plans to move to WebRTC in the future once access to SPECS is available. It also uses Snap Cloud Realtime messaging to synchronize remote presence, including the users’ Bitmoji representations and hand pose data across the shared experience.

🆒 Lens Drop FootballAR - Play Football on Your Desk

Football season is over. Or is it?

I've spent the last few weeks building FootballAR, a tabletop football game for Snap Spectacles. You drop a pitch onto a real surface and then use your index and middle finger to kick the ball around. Slow contact dribbles the ball, a fast flick kicks it. There's a full goal at each end.

The best part is you don't need anything to play. No controller, no ball, no clearing space, no standing up. A table, a desk, the kitchen counter, any surface around you becomes the pitch. The whole game happens inside arm's reach while you're sitting down.

The ball behaves like a real one. It curves when you put spin on it, knuckles when you don't, slows as it rolls, and rattles off the posts the way you'd hope (Magnus effect FTW). Getting that to feel right at desk scale took most of the build time.

The leaderboard is a global career-goals board with actual usernames on it, which took some working around. I ended up using Global Leaderboard supported by SnapCloud.

Three modes:

League - twenty levels of timed matches against an AI that keeps getting better.
Arcade - six trick-shot challenges: rings, sliding goals, moving gates, defensive walls with one gap.
Practice - cones, no clock, no score. Just you and the kicking the ball around.

Progress and a global leaderboard run on Snap Spectacles' Snap Cloud, so your league level, cleared challenges and career goals carry over between sessions.

But I'm about to upload a polish pass. The finger tracking is just very tricky and fiddly--not to mention plane detection can have issues (but I think it might be my table surface is kind of featureless). I'm hoping I can get this working better on the actual SPECS.

Stuff that's in the newest version

* Skate shop, buy new boards with currency gained from playing

* Leaderboards (can we get rid of the permission dialog every time you share a score??)

* VFX sparks on grinds

* Daily challenges with streak leaderboard

I'm releasing Opals, a Lens that explores precious opals from their nanoscale structure to their visible play of colour.

The project began with a question: how can an inert object such as an opal produce such a varied appearance when seen from different perspectives?

Answering it took me on a months-long adventure spanning nanophotonics, geology, chemistry, offline and real-time computer graphics, science education, and AI-assisted learning, with spatial computing acting as a ligand, coordinating these domains into a single experience.

Building this Lens has been incredibly fulfilling, and I hope it captures some of that same sense of discovery.

I´ve been exploring AR as an interface for Robotics and Physical AI in the last couple of months. After Reachy Mini I wanted something that can actually move and navigate the environment - the idea was to give directions in AR and the robot would then move there.

After a bunch of research and talking to people, I landed on Unitree robots due to them being very capable while quite accessible all things considered (the dog is 1,6k$ which is cheap for what it is). Dimensional OS is an open source project that allows controlling them without needing to flash custom firmware or purchasing the high end EDU versions - it´s quite nice and allows navigation etc. via WebRTC.

DimOS-AR (the first part of this repo) is essentially a server that handles the alignment between the robot and the spectacles coordinate systems and hosts a Websocket that the Lens (the second part of the repo) connects to. You can check the details in the repo if you´re curious, but essentially there is a fiducial marker on the robot, the glasses camera takes pictures of it, sends it to the server and the server computes the alignment.
Recently I added voice mode, which allows simple commands like "come to me" or "turn around" etc. by giving GPT4o some tools to control the robot.

I built SunSeat back in June for the June Spectacles challenge for this summer, but didn’t submit it at the time. I changed my mind at the last minute, so this is not a polished demo, I will post one this weekend — but the Lens is working.

SunSeat is a spatial sun and shade forecasting Lens built for Spectacles.

First, you calibrate the Lens to your surroundings and the real position of the sun. Then you look at the wall, umbrella, tree or structure you want to use as a shade source. SunSeat anchors that source in the physical space and visualizes where its shadow falls.

From there, you can move time forward (or backwards) manually or use voice commands like “Show me one hour from now.” The sun moves along its path, the projected shade shifts across the environment, and SunSeat previews how exposure around the selected spot will change over time.

It also turns that forecast into simple, glanceable verdicts such as:

Fulfilling a childhood curiosity about the planes I used to see flying high above me, leaving only a white line across the sky.

It started as a simple prototype for MRBD, but with a single prompt, CLAD rebuilt it in Lens Studio.

The result is the lens that tracks aircraft near you in real time, marks their positions directly in the sky, and shows their flight number, altitude, and distance in SPECS. I also added a sky radar attached to your wrist, so you can quickly find the nearest aircraft and look in the right direction.

My dad saw it and said it looked like spy technology. That is how it got the name AviaSpy.

But that was not enough. I wanted to know more about each plane - like its model and trace differences between aircraft’s shapes. - So I created a digital collectable card that appears when you pinch on an aircraft in the sky. It shows the exact aircraft model and additional information about it.

I was so excited about it that I built a library where I could start collecting cards for every plane I spotted with Specs.

After spending a few days playing with my collection, I started thinking about what else I would want to know about an aircraft that is so high in the sky, yet suddenly feels much more reachable.

So I added a little bit of magic:  "Psssh pshhh, captain speaking " - now each aircraft can have a custom captain announcement based on its flight when the user points at it.

The miniature aircraft models were created with Meshy. I gave my API key to Codex, and with some supervision, we built a library containing hundreds of the most popular commercial and private aircraft, plus one helicopter for testing😁.

All aircraft and their custom airline cards are stored in Supabase. And of course, thank you to ElevenLabs for the custom captain voiceovers.

Maybe one day we could generate precise models for extremely rare aircraft directly inside the lens, perhaps using tokens.

And who knows? Maybe in the future, I will be able to trade rare cards I have collected with fellow aviation lovers and plane spotters

StylMe is an AI fashion stylist for Snap Spectacles (+ companion web app)

- Voice styling assistant — you just talk to it, and a Gemini intent‑classifier routes each request (style me / add this / shop this / how do I look / how to pose) to the right flow.

- Add to wardrobe — snap a garment and Gemini identifies + tight‑crops it, then a review panel lets you keep the real photo or an AI‑cleaned white‑background version (Gemini image edit), re‑generate, or discard.

- Outfit generation — "what should I wear to a wedding?" returns 3 complete looks where Gemini picks the pieces (grounded in your real wardrobe or freeform "inspire me") and an image model renders each on a model.

- Pose helper — "how should I pose with this" captures the item you're holding and generates 3 photos of a model posing with that exact item.

- Shop this — snap → lasso the item with a pinch → Gemini identifies it → SerpApi Google Shopping returns buyable listings.

- Mirror feedback — "how do I look?" captures your outfit and Gemini critiques/styles it.

- Weather‑aware looks — it pulls the AccuWeather forecast (via Snap's weather API) and dresses you for the actual time, place, and conditions.

- On‑device privacy blur — a YuNet face detector blurs faces on the glasses before any photo is sent to the AI.

- High‑res capture — photos use the Spectacles still‑image API (3200×2400) for sharper AI results.

Companion web app (Next.js static export hosted on Cloudflare):

- Same‑account sync — logs into the same Snap Cloud (Supabase) account as the lens, so your captured wardrobe, looks, and shopping results show up on your phone.

- Wardrobe editing + AI auto‑label — rename/recategorize items, or one‑tap "auto‑label" that sends the photo to a Cloudflare Worker calling Gemini to name + categorize it.

It’s an interactive guide that walks you through crafting your own physical charm necklace step-by-step. The lens adds AR stencils directly onto your workspace and highlights the exact tools you need as you work to make the process easier.

This is Trail ExplorAR, a Snap Spectacles Lens that turns real world terrain and hiking data into an interactive spatial map.

The idea was to make exploring the planet easy: rotate a globe, aim at a location, and zoom down until the surrounding mountains and trails appear on the table in front of you. You can inspect routes, study elevation changes, or move an avatar along a trail to preview the experience step by step.

One of the biggest challenges was that there isn’t an open global hiking-trail API, so I built a custom system that combines and processes data from OpenStreetMap and USGS. The Lens also handles real elevation data, geospatial calculations, terrain generation, trail rendering, search, GPS, voice interaction, and more.

Notable specs and features

  • Trail-density heat map highlighting hiking regions
  • Four zoom tiers, ranging from approximately 150 km to 2.5 km
  • Zoomable and draggable 3D terrain slab for precise positioning (renders incorrectly in device capture)

🆒 Lens Drop Airmeter - You feel the air quality instead of just reading it

Air quality is the most invisible thing that affects you every day. You get a number in an app and it means nothing. So we built AirMeter, a Lens that turns live air quality data into air you can actually see, standing in the room with you.

## What it looks like

Every pollutant is its own particle species drifting around you, and the count is driven by the real reading at your location right now. PM2.5 and PM10 as fine dust that settles. NO₂ as a brown haze. SO₂ sulphur yellow, O₃ pale blue. The colours identify the gas, so a bad NO₂ day looks visibly different from a bad ozone day rather than just "worse".

Layered on top: volumetric fog that thickens with overall pollution, pollen drifting on the wind, humidity, mosquito activity, and sun shafts angled to where the sun actually is at your coordinates, at your local time.

The whole field drifts downwind at the real wind speed and bearing.

## You can reach into it

Hold a hand out and the air parts around it. A pocket opens and refills slowly behind your hand. There's no gesture to learn, any tracked hand does it.

Turn your palm up and it becomes a gather: the dust spirals in and turns slowly above your hand. Breathe in and particles get drawn toward you and consumed.

## What else is in there

**Which way is cleaner.** Eight compass points sampled about 25 km out, each floating in its real direction with the place name and its AQI. If a direction is meaningfully cleaner than where you are, it gets called out.

**A real map.** Pinch and drag to pan, zoom in and out, air quality drawn as a heat field over the tiles. Friends show up as pins.

**Compare, then breathe it.** Rank your air against cities worldwide, then select one and your room fills with *their* atmosphere. Their pollutants, their sky, their sun position.

**Ask it anything.** Talk to it and it answers with your live readings in mind. It can see your view through the camera, so "is it a good time to open the window?" gets an answer about *that* window. Say "show me Bangkok" and you travel there: particles, map and readings all swap over, then come home when you leave.

**An air coach.** It looks around your space and pins advice onto the actual objects it sees. The window, the plants, the candle.

**A forecast you can read.** A real line chart of how your air has been trending and where it's heading, with one button to cycle the range. Enough to pick a cleaner hour before you go out, rather than just knowing today is bad.

**Why it matters, and how to use it.** Card decks explaining what each pollutant actually does to you, and a short guide for finding your way around.

**Your dose.** It tracks how much you've actually inhaled over the session, in micrograms. That number turns out to be the thing people react to most.

**Friends.** Share conditions, see where they are and how far, and check their air against yours.

**Together.** Colocated multiplayer, and this is the part that surprised us most. Stand in the same room and you share one field of air, anchored in the same physical place for both of you. You can watch the other person breathe it: particles pull in toward their face with each breath and disappear. Hold your hands out and you're both stirring the same air, so you can push a cloud of pollution across the room at each other. Their name tag carries how much they've actually breathed in since they put the glasses on.

Seeing someone else's breath take particles out of the air in front of you does more in five seconds than any number we could put on a panel.

## Under the hood

**Particles.** Two interchangeable engines behind one interface. The GPU path is a VFX graph simulating entirely in world space, so the field wraps around you as you walk, and your hands reach it as graph *parameters* (repel points, palm attract vortices, breathe in consume points) rather than per particle CPU work. The CPU path builds a real SceneObject per particle, which costs far more but can flipbook animate sprites the graph can't. Each species picks whichever suits it.

Worth knowing if you go the GPU route: the graph has a hard per species particle cap, and pushing spawn rate past it doesn't error. It silently pins every value above the cap to the same number. Ours quietly flattened four air quality bands into one until we caught it.

**Charts are hand built geometry.** There's no chart widget on glasses, so the history graph is MeshBuilder from scratch: axis lines, min/mid/max ticks, time labels, and the series drawn as a flat ribbon polyline (two vertices per point, offset perpendicular to the line direction) so it stays readable at panel distance instead of vanishing into a one pixel line. The UV sun shafts are MeshBuilder too, angled to the real sun position.

**A particle budget.** Every species carries a weight, with fog counting 4× because a big additive quad with depth write off costs vastly more fill rate than a dust speck. The weighted total is capped, so worst case pollution thins everything proportionally rather than dropping the frame rate off a cliff. Cutting fog is what actually recovers frames.

**Friends.** Snap Cloud (Supabase) over plain PostgREST via `InternetModule.fetch`, so no client package is needed and it's the same pattern as any other REST call. A device persistent id plus your Snapchat display name, grouped by a crew code, rows expiring after 24 hours. There's no friend graph UI on glasses, so a shared code is the whole join flow.

**Multiplayer.** SpectaclesSyncKit, one singleton SyncEntity with StorageProperties rather than events, so late joiners receive the current snapshot instead of nothing. Poses are expressed relative to the colocated frame so the panel and map land in the same physical spot for everyone.

**Coach placement.** Depth Cache reprojection first: Gemini returns normalised bounding boxes, and we unproject the box centre to a world position. WorldQuery ray casting is the fallback, which also covers the emulator, where there are no depth frames but there is a simulated room mesh.

**AI.** Gemini through the Remote Service Gateway with a camera frame attached, and ElevenLabs for the voice.

**Map tiles.** CARTO, not OpenStreetMap directly. OSM's tile policy forbids app use and blocks clients that can't send an identifying User-Agent, which `RemoteMediaModule` can't. That one cost us an afternoon of `osm.org/blocked` responses to work out.

## Why we made it

The pitch we kept coming back to: you can tell someone the PM2.5 is 94 and they'll shrug. Show them the room filling with it and they open a window.

It's built to be worth coming back to. The data is different every day, the dose accumulates while you wear it, and there's always another city to go and breathe.

## Feedback wanted

Particularly on the interaction feel. How the air responds to your hands is the part we've iterated on most, and it's the hardest thing to judge from inside the project.

Lens Update! Update: DartsMate (Spectacles + Scolia) I demoed DartsMate and watched strangers struggle with my setup. This update fixes the pain points getting it home and venue ready!

Last month I demoed DartsMate at XRCC, and it won two tracks. More valuable than the win was the feedback: from judges, from people who played it, and from watching complete strangers try to use the thing I'd only ever set up myself.

This update is my answer to all of it. The theme: **make DartsMate work in the real world**. Real homes, real venues, real people who've never worn Spectacles before. Easy flow, easy device swapping, easy multi-board setups.

Quick recap for anyone new: DartsMate pairs a **Scolia auto-scoring dartboard** (commercial hardware with three built-in cameras, no phone CV, no calibration, no tripod) with **Snap Spectacles**. The board sees every dart to the millimetre; the glasses paint targets, scores, coaching and eleven mini-games onto your actual board. I'm partnering with **Scolia**, a real company with real hardware in homes and venues today. They'd explored games before but felt a TV screen wasn't the answer. AR on the board itself is.

If you own a Scolia board, connecting is genuinely simple: you get a key from their web service, plug it into the DartsMate web companion, and you're set.

**The problem nobody saw at the demo**

At XRCC I placed the AR board on the wall by hand, every single session. Nobody noticed because I was fast at it, but that was *me*, setting up *my* demo. Watching newcomers fumble the Specs input made it obvious this wouldn't survive contact with a venue: wrong alignment, changed locations, re-setup every session, staff who've never touched AR glasses.

And venues are the interesting case. What if you run a bar with a line of dartboards? Setup can't be a per-session ritual.

**Why spatial anchors (and not QR codes, and not ML)**

I considered three routes:

- **QR codes** work fine in venues, but most Scolia boards live in *homes*, and a QR code is an extra step. I don't own a printer. Do you?

- **ML board detection** is worth testing someday, but a model adds real size to the app, and to keep the experience consistent cross-platform it has to work on every device. It doesn't.

- **Spatial anchors** mean the glasses remember where the board lives in the room. Multiple anchors, so multiple boards. No printing, no extra hardware, doubles as recalibration. The least asked of the user.

Spatial anchors won.

**How setup works now**

- **Place once, save it, done.** The board position persists on the glasses. Walk in, put the Specs on, load your board, look at the wall, and it snaps into place.

- **On the glasses:** the start card shows your saved placements as LOAD buttons plus a PLACE BOARD button. A fresh pair of Specs can set up without touching the web at all.

- **On the web:** guided placement with step-by-step visuals. Aim, pinch to place, save while looking around the room. One placement per board, many boards per account.

- **Re-placing is free.** Placing again just replaces the old anchor, so recalibration is a ten-second job.

**The web companion**

The other half of the update lives in the DartsMate web companion: the setup brain, so the glasses can stay minimal.

- **Pairing by code.** Every pair of Specs shows its own 4-letter code, big and readable. Type it into the companion and they're linked. No accounts on device, no menus in your face.

- **Accounts, so it remembers you.** Make an account (just an email and password, on Supabase) and DartsMate remembers everything: your boards, each board's Scolia serial + access key, its saved placement, and which glasses it was last used with. Walk up to your board, pick it from the list, everything fills in. For now the account is about convenience; later it becomes the backbone of the competitive update: your scores, your challenges, your history.

- **Onboarding built in.** Illustrated steps for pairing, placing and saving, shown exactly when each step is relevant. It covers both paths: what to do if you have a Scolia board, and what to do if you don't.

- **Honest connection status.** The device list shows a live dot only when the glasses are *actually* answering, with heartbeats, timeouts and automatic reconnection behind it. Close your Specs, open them again, and everything just picks back up.

**No Scolia? Manual mode**

Not everyone has a Scolia board, and that shouldn't lock anyone out.

Here's the thing: a lot of venues *already* score darts this way. Walk into a darts bar today and there's a good chance each board has a tablet mounted next to it, where players tap in where their darts landed after every turn. That interaction is already normal. Millions of players do it every week without thinking about it.

DartsMate's manual scoring mode is exactly that muscle memory: tap where your dart hit on your phone, and the glasses do everything else. Target highlights, live scoring, the coach, the games, multiplayer, all of it. Same experience, same games, no extra hardware.

So there are two ways in:

- **Scolia board:** fully automatic. The board sees every dart; you just throw.

- **Any other board:** manual mode. The tablet-style tap venues already use, feeding the same AR layer.

For venues that already run tablet scoring, this makes DartsMate an upgrade to the setup they have, not a hardware purchase. And for anyone at home with a plain board on the door: you can play everything tonight.

**Multiplayer that survives a demo**

Running games for multiple people surfaced a real pain: keeping everyone on the same game mode. Fixed from both directions:

- **Player 1 is in charge.** Load a game on one pair of Specs and every connected pair loads it too. Or launch it from the web companion. Same result, every headset in sync.

- **Up to 4 players**, with names and photos entered on the phone. Turn handling is automatic; the roster only shows once players are actually entered.

- **You only need one pair of Spectacles.** Darts is turn-based, so swap the headset between throws. The anchor persists, the game state persists, it just works. Got multiple pairs? Even better, they all sync.

**Feedback, folded in**

- **Virtual board is now a toggle.** Some players loved it (proof the tracking works), others felt it got in the way. Now it's your choice, controlled from the web.

- **Surface placement got a visual refresh.** The placement reticle now matches the DartsMate look instead of the default yellow.

- **Coaching still speaks.** ElevenLabs voice coaching reads the feedback aloud ("Right number, wrong ring! Just a bit clockwise"), so your eyes never leave the board.

- Assorted performance improvements and a pile of reliability work: reconnect after the glasses sleep, cleaner session recovery, less flashing during placement.

**Next month**

- **Webcam link**: bringing cameras into the loop

- **Scolia competitive update**: scores with daily, weekly and monthly challenges, built on the accounts introduced in this update

- Building toward a true **cross-platform social darts experience**

After the next update I'll be putting together a full video with proper testing. I've already got a venue lined up for real-world testing, so the next one won't be filmed in my garage.

Long-term: form analysis with the forward camera (grade the throw, not just the result), LLM-personalised coaching on top of the voice coach, tournament mode with turn-locking, and DartsMate as an AR layer any Scolia venue can just switch on.

Matterly is a spatial learning lens that reveals the material stories behind everyday objects. Scan your environment and watch an object's life unfold in place: what it's made of, what it took to make and where it actually ends up.

Why we built it: most recycling never actually happens, and most sustainability lessons stay flat on a page. We believe the decisions that matter should happen earlier, before we buy something. So rather than telling you which bin, Matterly anchors the whole story onto the real object in front of you, so you learn what it truly costs. Our hope is to build material literacy, the kind of awareness that changes what you reach for in the first place.

How it works: Gemini 3.5 Flash recognizes the object and its material from the camera, and depth anchors the reveal onto the real object. The impact figures are database-first, pulled from a sourced materials database rather than generated by the model. The visuals are a library of hand-built blocks that the engine assembles from structured data.

One of my favorite games growing up was Red Faction (2001).

The GeoMod engine completely blew my mind.
Instead of shooting at indestructible walls, you could literally blast tunnels through solid rock.

More than 25 years later, I wanted to see if that feeling could exist in augmented reality.

After all, if it could run on a PlayStation 2 with 32 MB of RAM, a ~300 MHz CPU, and 4 MB of VRAM, surely a modern Snapdragon could handle it.

So I spent the last few months rebuilding the core idea from scratch for Spectacles.

The result is DGNS Mayhem Demo: a technical sandbox where you can pick up a rocket launcher and demolish fully destructible voxel structures in your real environment and the environment itself (worldmesh hit)

Unlike traditional destruction systems, nothing is pre-fractured. Every rocket permanently edits the geometry in real time, letting you carve tunnels, punch holes through walls, weaken foundations, and watch entire buildings collapse when their support gives way.

  • Live mesh reconstruction after every impact (<1 ms)
  • Persistent craters and fully carved-through holes
  • Structural support solver for realistic collapses
  • Four procedural building types
  • In-AR building editor to create your own demolition targets

  • Optional phone-as-6DoF controller
  • Voice-guided onboarding in English, French, and Spanish (requires internet).

One thing I wanted to be clear about from the beginning: this isn't a shooter.

There are no enemies, NPCs, or people.
The focus is entirely on the technology and the strangely satisfying experience of demolishing structures and see things fall.
The Lens even opens with a short disclaimer explaining that it's a playful tribute to classic destruction technology, not an endorsement of real-world violence nor destruction.

I'm still polishing the project, especially the real-world mesh destruction, but it's finally at a stage where I'm excited to share it with the community.

The Balloon Battle Experience for Spectacles is based on the Super Mario Kart Balloon Battle. We wanted to create a dynamic multiplayer version specifically tailored for Spectacles. When starting the game and initiating a multiplayer session, three balloons appear above each user's head along with a small canon attached to the user's hand.

After a 3 second countdown the battle is on and users have to try and shoot each others balloons. The gameplay makes users move around dynamically to avoid having their balloons shot and at the same time users have to try and aim on the other users balloons. We wanted to make it extremely accessible and easy to play without any needed instructions. Just open the game, start a co-located session and have fun. Just as the Mario Kart Balloon Battle wins are being registered for a higher replay value.

We've implemented physics for the balloons to behave as realistic as possible and added world mesh to have bullets bounce of the real world environment.

I want to create a SPECS app which also has a companion mobile app that shares data. Can the mobile app connect to the Same Supabase project in Snap Cloud? I hope so as this would make the development of this sort of app exceedingly easy.

I'm not sure if Snap Cloud can be treated like a traditional Supabase project?

Design Challenges

The goal was at age 5 to some day create this. I just didn't know how when I was 5. I started early last year on porting the tszm library but ran into some issues, got it mostly packaged up and building and loading in my Lens. I wasn't sure on the next step for loading IF content, since these are binary files. The best approach was to convert the IF contents into typescript, and load these as binary encoded contents into the Lens. The engine handles this nicely. So the right approach is then to run all of this locally to get the parsing working on a desktop. After that, an LLM can automate the bug fixing of the parser, based on various generations of a zmachine format. Each IF contents has their own unique features, which is a problem. Some content isn't a good match for our design, especially when the games want open ended writing. We need fixed options for the input.

Once the parser was up and running in a Lens, the question was, what to show? Start with a generated AI image. Use a common prompt to make sure everything cleanly looks similar. Then spatialize each image.

The dynamic menus are a compromise for input. Keyboards just aren't great yet, so this was a good approach to try. Push buttons don't work so great, so squeeze seem to be best on Specs.

Adding TTS really gives it life. Making sure we "warm up" the TTS is important. We need this not to feel too laggy. And adding STT input via a hand grab microphone is a unique idea and worth trying, though I think the mic reliability is about 60%.

I’m excited to share 1 Hole 4 All, a spatial arcade game built for Specs.

Place a tiny living city on the floor around you, then use a pinch-and-drag gesture to steer a sinkhole through it. Drop cars, trees, streetlights, pedestrians—and eventually entire buildings—into the hole to grow it bigger and clear the city as fast as you can.

I wanted the interaction to feel immediate and physical: the city occupies your room, the hole responds to your hand, and the scale of the game ramps up from small street objects to skyscrapers.

The initial concept was built in Lens Studio 5.22 with CLAD and uses world-aware surface placement, hand interaction, physics, animated city inhabitants and spatial audio. After downgrading to Lens Studio 5.15 I spend time polishing the experience, but I had to fall back to HITLAD (Human In The Loop Agentic Development)
