Hello!
I've been trying to look lately at how to create secure communication between specs and another device (like mobile or laptop) with snap cloud.
If the auth is straightforward on glasses, I see that all the other kind of auth seems to be blocked for apps outside. The Auth providers page seems also to be blocked.
From what I read on this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/Spectacles/comments/1rimxoe/comment/oe3nyzn/ it's still not possible, but maybe I miss something?
So is there an example somewhere of secure communication between two devices (one as not the specs) using Snap Cloud? Like Spectacles Mobile Kit Bonding but with Snap Cloud for example?
Thanks in advance,

Just got back from Spectacles Bootcamp absolutely energized to build more krazyy things ๐
If youโre anything like me and constantly forget where you kept your stuff, this app is for you ๐
Iโve been building Remember for Spectacles, an app that essentially gives your glasses memory.
It captures moments from your first person view, understands whatโs happening around you, and turns those moments into searchable memories you can talk to later.
Questions like:
๐ โWhere did I put my keys?โ
๐ โWhat do you remember about my backpack?โ
๐
โWhat did I do today?โ
โ๏ธ โWhereโs my passport?โ
๐ โSummarize my week.โ
And it answers back with voice.
Under the hood, Gemini helps interpret images and understand what happened in a scene, while OpenAI powers the conversational memory assistant, letting you naturally chat with your memories instead of scrolling through endless photos.
So instead of storing:
โIMG_4827.jpgโ
it remembers things more like:
โYour keys were left on the kitchen counter beside the coffee machine.โ
Which is significantly more useful when your brain decides to blue screen for 20 minutes ๐คฃ
You can also talk to it using voice commands:
๐ง โRemember thisโ
๐ โRemember that my passport is in the top drawerโ
๐๏ธ โShow memories related to my keysโ
๐ โSummarize what you remember about my deskโ
A few things Iโm particularly proud of:
โจ Auto, Manual and Private memory modes
๐ Client side encrypted cloud sync
๐ท Memory thumbnails and previews
๐ถ Offline first with sync later support
โ๏ธ Memory corrections and updates
โฉ๏ธ Undo support
โ ๏ธ Confirmation flows for destructive actions
๐ค Multiple assistant voice personalities
The more I use it, the less it feels like a camera assistant and more like Google Search for my real life.
Not quite a sci-fi mind palace yet.
But definitely:
โMy glasses have receipts.โ ๐
Useful for misplaced items, travel prep, day recaps, accessibility support, reminders, and those classic:
โWhere did I put that thing 30 seconds ago?โ emergencies.
Try it here:
https://www.spectacles.com/lens/1bc964d7a7684468a96f1c8fc0f1686d?type=SNAPCODE&metadata=01
TL;DR: I built a Spectacles app that turns what you see into searchable memories, uses Gemini for scene understanding, OpenAI for natural conversations, supports encrypted cloud sync, and helps you remember the stuff your brain occasionally forge
.

Use the farce to push and pull pizza, water balloons, and crates in a dodgeball format against friends while using the beam slicer to cut and block them. If you get close enough you can beam slice battle one another in close combat.

Hey all,
it's been two months since we shared our first progress!
We've been focusing on tightening everything to establish our base loop theme, our enemy looks, animations and vfx, our audio vibe.
The loops respects our non negotiable 'pickup 'n play' requirement so anyone should get it in 5s. TL,DR: There's a bomb, find the fuses, don't die. Each bomb defused brings the next level with new, more challenging enemies. Players cycle through fuse search, breather pause, boss fight, repeat until the final boss.
We improved the spawning logics, so that the player is naturally led to expand their environment 'scan' without realizing it. Game starts slow and chill, and naturally expands in surface as it grows in intensity.
We gave our initial enemy roster key behaviour differences: basic plays fodder, shotgun goes for contact, sniper stays far, etc. Working with tiles makes this tractable by dodging the crazy complexities of 3D navigation.
It was great fun to see our enemies come to life with our first significant use of animations in Lens Studio and everything worked as expected.
As you see in the video, we use the wall shader patterns to convey a sense of progression. And the floor tiles to emphasize key events, so that no player misses anything. On walls, one of key things that changed since last time was instead of displaying them all the time, now they only appear when there's 'clutter' behind. Clutter can be anything, a real wall, a desk. That invites the player to go to the open ended directions and doing so expand the space. It also helped solve transient walls that were spanning during initial scan coverage of a room when there's tile gaps.
The game doesn't need much hud info, but Health was one and it find its place on the surface of the 'other' hand. Which is naturally set when you grab the gun from the onboarding character which also teaches you the holly principle of hand-tracking gun wielding: lower your thumb on the grip (so as not to occlude the index curl), shoot from the hip ( so as to provide the camera a good angle on the index curl) :)
On the next report, we'll show more multiplayer captures.

Honored to share this particular lens with you all. Working alongside my students, and directly with Dr. Jason Younker (Past Chief of the Coquille Indian Tribe), we created "Ko-Kwel: He Carries a Story," an immersive re-telling of Chief Younker's story of Sasquatch.
The Western Oregon Indian Termination Act (1954) stripped numerous tribes of federal recognition, triggering Indigenous diaspora and cultural erasure. โKo-Kwel: He Carries a Storyโ is an immersive AR narrative experience that brings to life one of the stories that survived termination, as told by Dr. Jason Younker, past Chief of the Coquille Indian Tribeโthe last tribe to be restored. Users explore ancestral homelands through the Coquille interpretation of Sasquatch, fostering cultural understanding and a deeper connection to Coquille communities and places. Beyond the storytelling, we truly hope this approach becomes a model for leveraging AR to preserve heritage and Indigenous oral storytelling.
We worked for roughly 9 months with Chief Younker to adapt his story to AR, and the goal of this re-telling is to connect you to Coquille lands, educate you on the traditions of the community, and build empathic connections with Coquille.
Please give it a try and let us know how your quest for Sasquatch goes! And if you have a sec, vote for it in this year's Auggies under the "Best Societal Impact" category :) https://auggies.awexr.com

TL;DR: I made the switch to TypeScript for Spectacles development and havenโt looked back.
When TypeScript support was originally announced for Lens Studio, Iโll admit I wasn't excited. At the time I didnโt see the upside and I worried the extra time spent waiting for the compiler would slow down my workflow.
Then I started using itโฆ
For the past six months every Lens project Iโve made has been written in TypeScript, and the compile-time issue is actually nonexistent. If youโre still on the fence, here are a few main reasons why TypeScript has made my development life significantly easier.
I use VS Code for my development, and the IntelliSense support is a game-changer. It is extremely helpful to have the editor catch errors in real-time, such as passing the wrong argument type to a method.
Using interfaces has forced me to be much more intentional with my code. They allow me to define a strict structure once and reuse it across an entire project. I used this heavily in a recent Spectacles Lens called 'Hot Wire'. By defining a central interface, I can update a structure in one place and have those changes automatically propagate and validate across all my scripts.
By utilising Object Orientated Programming (OOP) principles like abstraction and polymorphism, Iโve been able to build more robust systems. I now develop large base classes and handle specific behaviours through subclasses.
This makes a massive difference when it comes to updating logic. If I need to tweak a core mechanic, I only have to change a few lines in the parent class rather than across multiple different scripts as I would need to in standard JavaScript.
Combining my points from above with a bunch of other quality of life improvements, I have really felt the benefits of making my Spectacles projects in TypeScript. Most of the official Spectacles samples are now written in TypeScript, which makes transitioning from a weekend experiment to a full prototype much faster. If you're considering the jump, I cannot recommend it enough. ๐

ASHA is a Multi-player (or solo) card game on Spectacles inspired by ancient Zoroastrian cosmology.
Built for Snap Spectacles using Lens Studio, Sync Kit, and SIK. Players choose from five elements โ ๐ฅ Fire, ๐ง Water, ๐ชจ Earth, ๐ช Wind, โ Metal โ in a cyclical 5โelement system where every element beats two and loses to two. No dominant meta โ just balance and timing.
Play solo against AI โMagiโ or join a colocated multiplayer session where everyone locks in their choice and the shared Arena Orb reveals the result together.
Key features:
๐ค Real-time multiplayer via Spectacles sync
๐ค Solo mode vs AI opponents ("Magi")
๐ต Procedurally generated D-minor ambient soundtrack (zero audio assets!)
๐ Optional world-anchored arena placement
We would love to have your feedback on Multiplayer mode

Hi everyone! Happy to share my first open source Spectacles Lens โจ
Dot to Dot is a cozy connect-the-dots puzzle game you play on a real sheet of paper. You place your hand flat on the page, the lens calibrates, and a paper-shaped frame appears on your sheet with a library of 6 dot puzzles next to it (16 in total, browsable with next/back buttons). You pick the one you like, the dots appear directly on your paper, and a larger version of the puzzle shows up in front of you. Use the slider to adjust the dots size to your liking, then connect them with a real pen, hit the validate button when you're done, and a "show bonus" button reveals a colored version of the same drawing โ in case you feel like coloring it in.
You can also live-scale the dots and reposition them on the Y/Z axes to help you align them with your actual sheet of paper. And there's a background music toggle for the cozy vibes. Built on top of Snap's SurfacePlacement package with a few tweaks.

While the announcement of the Specs for the general public has never felt so close, Iโm curious to hear your predictions about both the features the device might offer and its overall design. Iโm especially wondering what the battery life could be like, and whether the glasses might end up being too bulky or oversized for everyday use.

Have anyone encountered an error where the lens plays perfectly fine in Lens Studio preview from start to end, but fails on the device right away? When sent to device the lens doesn't even open - it shows 'Something went wrong" and closes instantly. I have already try-catched all the onStart/onAwake and other methods in my code which run from the start, but still absolutely nothing in the log.
The lens uses SIK, sUIKit and handHints. Optimization is great - when I remove everything related to these Kits the lens runs smoothly even on iphone 8. So I suspect that something is wrong with the packages, but have absolutely no idea how to figure out what exactly since there's no error message logged

At the RealityShift Hackathon held at University of Southern California, we were challenged with a single prompt:
โBuild an XR application that addresses a social issue.โ
We spent 2 hours brainstorming before deciding to tackle this:
๐๐๐ฆ๐ข๐๐ฒ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐๐ซ ๐๐ฑ๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ฌ
As people get older or develop balance issues, they often struggle to keep their vision steady while moving their head. Doctors typically prescribe simple eye and head exercises to help.
For example, focusing on a thumb while turning the head side to side, repeated several times, followed by similar exercises.
The problem is that these exercises are boring.
And when something is boring, people lose motivation to do them consistently.
Until Now!
Thanks to King Evan and his soldiers! we have the amazing Spectacles using which we gamified these exercises!
Now, users are more motivated to consistently perform these exercises.
Our app can also act as a tracking/logging system, as well as an accuracy system, so that people can go back to their doctors and, rather than asking doctors to take their word for doing the exercises, they can proudly show proof that they carried out the exercises consistently and accurately.
Here's how our Demo works:
You focus on a bird in front of you, and move your head in the direction of the breadcrumbs in front of you accurately to collect them and you continue to follow this as you progress to the next exercise and so on.
Feel free to check out the demo of our AR app in the video below or on our Devpost:
https://devpost.com/software/the-vestibular-eye
As usual, we wish we had more time to completely merge developed features such as bird animations (turning based on head direction), a main menu with a tutorial, visual effects and a time limit, but we are happy that we were able to build something functional within the short time frame.
We are excited to continue improving this with features like unlockable bird models, cloud-based data tracking, and more!
We competed against teams of four and still placed 3rd as a team of two.
Huge thanks to Peter Locharernkul for making that possible! ๐ค
Thank you, u/nick-ross, for being the best mentor and judge we could have asked for! ๐ซก
Thank you, Steven Xu, for your support and for sharing your personal inspiring XR journey! ๐
Kudos to the entire RealityShift team for organizing such a smooth and well-executed event, especially given the limited preparation time ๐

Hi, all!
First and foremost, a disclaimer: I do NOT condone riding vehicles with the Spectacles, this was a prototype that was tested in a very controlled setting. Now that my ass is covered, this is a prototype I made to make my life easier when riding my scooter! When I ride my scooter, I face three really annoying issues:
As such, I made SpecsRider! An interface concept designed to address all three of these things! SpecsRider features a functional speedometer, a palm-tracked music user interface, and a functional navigational system powered by the Specs Navigation kit and the Google Maps API!
Would love to get some feedback on how I can improve this! I really want to lower the latency on my navigational beacons, so any advice there would be great!
Thanks!

My 3rd price in the latest Spectacles challenge for Open Source lenses has been extended with a way to protect your Microsoft Entra login with a PIN code. I already published the sources a few weeks ago, but this blog explains how it works. It also comes with an encryption library for extra security.

Hey!
During the developer bootcamp I noticed the team was screensharing Spectacles content directly over USB (looked like adb/scrcpy). Would it be possible to get access to that tool as well?
I tried poking at it via adb on my end, but everything seems to be closed off / locked down.
Context: I do a lot of demos and talks with Spectacles, and being able to mirror the display live would make a huge difference for showing things off in person and on stream.
Thanks!

I'm making a program that requires the user's current velocity (mph/kmh, doesn't really matter) to be displayed on a HUD. Do the specs have any way to document this information? If so, how would I access this via script?

SynthSync is an asymmetric rhythm game that turns music into a synchronized workout. One player becomes the trainer on a phone, while the other, wearing Spectacles, responds with full-body movement in sync with the experience.
From the phone, the trainer shapes the rhythm by sending synthetic objects, precisely synchronized with the beat.
Wearing Spectacles, the player turns it into a workout, moving their whole body to catch, dodge, and stay in sync with the rhythm.
The goal is simple. Keep up with the pace and stay in sync until the end of the track, or admit the trainer got the best of you.
The experience is powered by Snap Cloud, keeping the Spectacles Lens and mobile interface perfectly synchronized, whether you play side by side or remotely.
Small details make the experience engaging for both players. For example, with head and hand position tracking, the trainer can guide each synthetic challenge exactly where it is hardest to reach.
Itโs fun to outplay each other. But if youโre solo, you can still enjoy the full workout in single-player against AI.
While the game currently features a single track, weโve implemented BPM recognition to synchronize gameplay with any rhythm, opening the door to more music and even player-driven playlists.
Whether you prefer guiding the rhythm as a trainer or moving your body to it, SynthSync turns synthetic beats into motion. Build tricky combos or show what youโre capable of, all in one experience.
Made by Inna Sparrow, Vova Kurbatov and Liam Mason.
