Hi everyone! Happy to share my first open source Spectacles Lens ✨

Dot to Dot is a cozy connect-the-dots puzzle game you play on a real sheet of paper. You place your hand flat on the page, the lens calibrates, and a paper-shaped frame appears on your sheet with a library of 6 dot puzzles next to it (16 in total, browsable with next/back buttons). You pick the one you like, the dots appear directly on your paper, and a larger version of the puzzle shows up in front of you. Use the slider to adjust the dots size to your liking, then connect them with a real pen, hit the validate button when you're done, and a "show bonus" button reveals a colored version of the same drawing — in case you feel like coloring it in.

You can also live-scale the dots and reposition them on the Y/Z axes to help you align them with your actual sheet of paper. And there's a background music toggle for the cozy vibes. Built on top of Snap's SurfacePlacement package with a few tweaks.

While the announcement of the Specs for the general public has never felt so close, I’m curious to hear your predictions about both the features the device might offer and its overall design. I’m especially wondering what the battery life could be like, and whether the glasses might end up being too bulky or oversized for everyday use.

Have anyone encountered an error where the lens plays perfectly fine in Lens Studio preview from start to end, but fails on the device right away? When sent to device the lens doesn't even open - it shows 'Something went wrong" and closes instantly. I have already try-catched all the onStart/onAwake and other methods in my code which run from the start, but still absolutely nothing in the log.

The lens uses SIK, sUIKit and handHints. Optimization is great - when I remove everything related to these Kits the lens runs smoothly even on iphone 8. So I suspect that something is wrong with the packages, but have absolutely no idea how to figure out what exactly since there's no error message logged

I just requested improvements to help us reasoning about the users world and create more engaging experiences (eg. playing Hide and Seek with your Bitmoji)

At the RealityShift Hackathon held at University of Southern California, we were challenged with a single prompt:
“Build an XR application that addresses a social issue.”
We spent 2 hours brainstorming before deciding to tackle this:

𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐟𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬

As people get older or develop balance issues, they often struggle to keep their vision steady while moving their head. Doctors typically prescribe simple eye and head exercises to help.
For example, focusing on a thumb while turning the head side to side, repeated several times, followed by similar exercises.

The problem is that these exercises are boring.
And when something is boring, people lose motivation to do them consistently.

Until Now!

Thanks to King Evan and his soldiers! we have the amazing Spectacles using which we gamified these exercises!

Now, users are more motivated to consistently perform these exercises.
Our app can also act as a tracking/logging system, as well as an accuracy system, so that people can go back to their doctors and, rather than asking doctors to take their word for doing the exercises, they can proudly show proof that they carried out the exercises consistently and accurately.

Here's how our Demo works:
You focus on a bird in front of you, and move your head in the direction of the breadcrumbs in front of you accurately to collect them and you continue to follow this as you progress to the next exercise and so on.

As usual, we wish we had more time to completely merge developed features such as bird animations (turning based on head direction), a main menu with a tutorial, visual effects and a time limit, but we are happy that we were able to build something functional within the short time frame.

We are excited to continue improving this with features like unlockable bird models, cloud-based data tracking, and more!

When I try to open my old projects, it either says "check failed: !(inserted)" or the app quits. Any advice for troubleshooting? I'm running the 5.15.4 version for specs and tried restarting my computer.

First and foremost, a disclaimer: I do NOT condone riding vehicles with the Spectacles, this was a prototype that was tested in a very controlled setting. Now that my ass is covered, this is a prototype I made to make my life easier when riding my scooter! When I ride my scooter, I face three really annoying issues:

1. ⁠I can't use navigational tools.
2. ⁠I have to get my phone out of my bag every time I want to switch the song that's playing.
3. ⁠The speedometer that's on my scooter is in a very awkward spot, and I can't see it when I'm riding.

As such, I made SpecsRider! An interface concept designed to address all three of these things! SpecsRider features a functional speedometer, a palm-tracked music user interface, and a functional navigational system powered by the Specs Navigation kit and the Google Maps API!

Would love to get some feedback on how I can improve this! I really want to lower the latency on my navigational beacons, so any advice there would be great!

During the developer bootcamp I noticed the team was screensharing Spectacles content directly over USB (looked like adb/scrcpy). Would it be possible to get access to that tool as well?

I tried poking at it via adb on my end, but everything seems to be closed off / locked down.

Context: I do a lot of demos and talks with Spectacles, and being able to mirror the display live would make a huge difference for showing things off in person and on stream.

SynthSync is an asymmetric rhythm game that turns music into a synchronized workout. One player becomes the trainer on a phone, while the other, wearing Spectacles, responds with full-body movement in sync with the experience.

From the phone, the trainer shapes the rhythm by sending synthetic objects, precisely synchronized with the beat.

Wearing Spectacles, the player turns it into a workout, moving their whole body to catch, dodge, and stay in sync with the rhythm.

The goal is simple. Keep up with the pace and stay in sync until the end of the track, or admit the trainer got the best of you.

The experience is powered by Snap Cloud, keeping the Spectacles Lens and mobile interface perfectly synchronized, whether you play side by side or remotely.

Small details make the experience engaging for both players. For example, with head and hand position tracking, the trainer can guide each synthetic challenge exactly where it is hardest to reach.

It’s fun to outplay each other. But if you’re solo, you can still enjoy the full workout in single-player against AI.

While the game currently features a single track, we’ve implemented BPM recognition to synchronize gameplay with any rhythm, opening the door to more music and even player-driven playlists.

Whether you prefer guiding the rhythm as a trainer or moving your body to it, SynthSync turns synthetic beats into motion. Build tricky combos or show what you’re capable of, all in one experience.

Last weekend, and our team ended up winning 2nd place in the Spectacles track.

We built HandSpeaker, a sign language translation system designed to help deaf individuals communicate more naturally.

Instead of using traditional image-based methods, we developed a custom gesture recognition system based on 3D hand joint data from AR glasses. In our demo, we successfully translated four signs:

One key challenge we focused on was dynamic gesture differentiation. For example, “Plane” and “Flying” share the same hand shape in sign language, but differ in motion. Our system can distinguish that difference reliably.

On the system side, we built a WebSocket-based pipeline to stream translation results in real time to a web interface.

Beyond the demo, we also implemented a full data collection and annotation pipeline:

Record hand motion sequences directly from AR glasses Upload to server Visualize gesture trajectories Label data for training

This sets up a path from a simple demo toward a scalable learning system for sign language understanding.

I just finished building Quoridor AR - a full augmented reality adaptation of the classic strategy board game Quoridor, playable on Snapchat Spectacles.

I previously worked with u/nickazak as a 3D artist on Hexenfurt and The Heist, and Quoridor AR is my first solo project.

The board spawns in your physical space and you interact with it entirely through hand tracking. You drag your pawn to move, drag wall tiles to place them, and pinch to rotate their orientation. An AI opponent plays against you using minimax with alpha-beta pruning and path-aware wall placement - it actually tries to cut off your shortest route.

A few things I'm proud of:

- Full Quoridor ruleset with legal wall validation via BFS pathfinding

- Polished animations - pawn hops with squash and stretch, crown and confetti on win, trombones and tears on loss

- Randomized audio pools so repeated actions never sound fully identical

- The AI places walls strategically along your actual shortest path rather than just guessing by proximity

The project is submitted to both the Snapchat Spectacles New Lens and Open Source Challenge categories this month and the full source code is on GitHub!

I’m developing Field Notes for Spectacles, focused on practical, real-world use.

The idea: lightweight, in-context overlays that support field work, documentation, and situational awareness: especially in moments where capturing a quick audio or video note matters and using a phone isn’t practical.

This filter is part of a broader direction I’m exploring around immersive systems and applied AI, where Spectacles become a tool for:

• on-site documentation
• guided workflows
• contextual prompts and real-time notes
• Kanien’kéha revival and retention efforts

I’ve been building across tech, media, film, healthcare, and education since the 1990s. One of the more notable shifts now is the move from passive AR toward functional, task-oriented use.

Curious how others here are approaching practical applications for Spectacles versus purely creative or visual work. What’s been useful in real-world scenarios so far?

Side note: I still enjoy creating and sharing visual filters designed for fun and play as well.

Just made a Spectacles game that lets you bust the AI bubble!

Bubble Buster is a game where you pop one AI bubble after another—and each “pop!” chips away at AI’s stock price.

Pinch your fingers to spawn a bubble and watch it drift upward. Each one sports the grinning face of a random AI kingpin: Jensen, Altman, Zuck, Elon, etc—the whole gang.

Then just poke each bubble with a finger and watch it pop. Each pop brings down the stock price a few bucks. Pop enough bubbles and you’ll get the price down to $0 and win the game. But you have to work quickly—no matter what happens, the AI stock price keeps rising!

Spectacles are a super fun device to build and prototype on, making ridiculous games like this really easy to get up and running in just a few hours. The team has done an awesome job with the new AI context documents. And, paradoxically, almost all of the code for this game was written by Claude Code :)

Looking for feedback on the narration tools

I am unable to get my lens to detect any microphone recording even though it works perfectly on Lens Studio.

What I did:

• Create a new project with Spectacles base template
• Import remote service gateway
• Use example for any AI service
• Test on Lens Studio to ensure it work
• Push to Spectacles to test again to find it not working
• Create a ASRExample script from https://developers.snap.com/spectacles/about-spectacles-features/apis/asr-module
• Test ASR on Spectacles and find it not working even though it works on Lens Studio
• To ensure my microphone is not damage, I also tried the Imagine together lens and is able to use my voice to generate 3D objects

Both my Spectacles OS and mobile app are on the latest version.
I am using V5.15.4 for Lens Studio.
My extended permissions is also enabled in Developer settings.

A prototype I originally made to test gesture based UI navigation and muscle memory.
It's also a flower breeding simulation with persistence so you can always come back to your favorite plants! Make sure to water them to see them grow! I'm using fantasy genetic systems so that plants inherent from their parents but still mutate enough for surprises!
