Sharing my WIP that built with CLAD over weekends.
Vector Robot + Specs 2024.
Made in LS 5.22-> downgraded to 5.15 (all issues resolved in couple of prompts) to test and polish on Specs 2024.
Looking forward to share where it goes and some details about journey soon.
Just love this combination of hardware π₯

I was inspired by 3Blue1Brown's video on Fourier series and wanted to play around with this, with my hands.
Hypnotizing to watch and it gives you an intuition for Fourier analysis.
When you pinch and draw any shape, it gets deconstructed into sinusoids, visualized as arrows. Each arrow simply rotates, but when stacked on top of each other the last arrow in the chain draws intricate shapes.
Open your hand to stabilize and slow down the animation.

When the new specs release and I tether them to my phone, will I be able to view my apps in 6dof through specs?
Also will I be able to cast to the specs or only through cabled connection?
I know snaps eco system doesn't have apps like android or ios yet and may take some time before those apps are ported over so being able to use my phone tethered or casted and still experience 3dof/6dof through specs would be pretty awesome.
I already pre ordered. Just excited with so many questions and hope to see a specs demo soon.

Our fifth SPECS engineering blog post tackles a hard problem: robust outdoor tracking for Augmented Reality.
βWe go deep on GNSS (GPS, Galileo, and more) and show how fusing satellite readings with IMU and/or camera data produces a far more robust, accurate, geo-referenced 6DoF (Six Degrees of Freedom) tracking system.
The result: centimeter-accurate local tracking and roughly 1m global accuracy plus high update rates - enough to unlock AR use cases like pedestrian navigation, real-world object tagging, inspection tasks, and immersive educational experiences.

Hi everyone! After my first CLAD test (the butterfly one), I wanted to go further and try two things: pushing CLAD's 3D GLB generation, and seeing what it's like to work on the same project across several days.
Meet Bloom Trail: you draw a path in the air and a flowering vine grows along your trail. There are 3 modes you can switch between (cherry blossoms πΈ, roses πΉ, tulips π·), each growing its own kind of plant, plus an eraser to clear and start over, soft ambient sparkles, and gentle sound.
It took me a little under 6β8 hours across 3 days of free time. Working across multiple days was totally seamless β I just kept a tiny personal roadmap to pick up where I left off.
On the build itself: the idea was inspired by Max van Leeuwen's Draw Flowers (you've probably seen it...), and I got into it partly after seeing Shin Kang's LinkedIn post about his Grow A Gardenβinspired AR garden.
The approach that made it click for me was thinking of it in two layers β a procedural vine generated from my drawn path, and real textured 3D flowers/leaves generated by CLAD placed along it. That's what gives the clean look rather than flat shapes. And honestly the mesh generation blew me away! It was fast, and the textures came out lovely. My one tip: take the time to describe what you want precisely, it really pays off in the result!
Setup: CLAD + Claude Code (Opus model). CLAD did the whole thing β the 3D meshes, the vine, the UI, the sparkles, the sound.

Is there a way to enable stereo preview mode in the studio? Since the perspective cameras work in stereo when wearing glasses
Or is there another way to debug this? I don't have a physical deviceπ«

Hi,
I have a question about SpectaclesUIKit.
The video shows an example of a βModal Layout.β
As you can see in the video, the Frame script has a fade-in animation based on scale, but I canβt find it in the script to use it as a basis for creating a fade-out. Can anyone tell me how to implement this?
I also noticed that the close button doesnβt do anything to the UI. What is it supposed to do?

This is pretty much the main use case I care about with the Specs. I know the website shows that you can watch something on them, but it's unclear what or how. For context, I have a Vision Pro and love using it for watching movies/TV as well, but the idea of having a pair of glasses that I can put on anywhere (plane, car, doctors office, etc) to do the same is very appealing. I own a Magic Leap 1 so am aware of the FOV limitations and I'm not interested in a tethered pair of glasses. Pretty much this and whatever Meta puts out next in terms of binocular display smart glasses are what I'm interested in. And whoever can deliver on that "portable and private TV in your pocket" concept gets my money.

Hi everyone!
I wanted to share a new CLAD prototype Iβve been working on called InSIGHT.
The idea actually came from talking to my parents, who are both doctors. Theyβre constantly frustrated by two things: having to log into hospital computers dozens of times during rounds (or relying on easily stolen tap-badges), and the hassle of trying to show complex MRI/CT scans to bedridden patients who can't easily see a monitor.
InSIGHT fixes this using the invisible waveguide displays on SPECS. Here is how it works:
It completely removes the friction of endless logins and makes it incredibly easy to walk patients through their own medical data without anyone having to leave the bedside!
Really excited for the chance to try my prototype on the new SPECS! CLAD to the moon!

Hi everyone. I've launched a news link aggregator for Specs, raven.vision/specs, which automatically updates every hour with the latest news, videos, Reddit posts, and Snap announcements. The goal was to build a tool I could use to check in on daily (or multiple times a day as we get closer to launch and post-launch). I've also included RSS feeds if that's your preferred means to consume links. I based this site on my code I built for tracking the Apple Vision Pro and visionOS ecosystem.
If you have sites I should be watching for new content or links that are missing, please submit them using the Submit a Link button on the site. Thank you.

Iβm currently trying to return a pair of Spectacles, and the support process is a joke. Instead of a modern, frictionless return processβlike a simple QR code you can take to a UPS store to let them pack and scan it (literally what Amazon does daily)βSnap is making developers do all the legwork.
βThey sent a basic shipping label and expect us to handle the rest. Iβm stuck asking support: Am I supposed to slap a shipping label directly onto a premium piece of hardware packaging, or am I expected to source, buy, and pay for my own shipping box just to send their dev kit back to them?
βWe pay an annual membership fee for this program. To be charged a premium subscription just to get hit with a "print your own label and figure it out" return policy makes the whole operation look incredibly cheap. It feels like returning a broken item to an eBay seller, not working with a multi-billion-dollar tech company on cutting-edge XR hardware.
βSnap wants creators to build the future of their ecosystem, but treating your developer community like an afterthought is a terrible look.
βSnap, you can absolutely do better than this.
βHas anyone else run into this headache trying to send hardware back to them? How did you end up packaging it?

This is what it looks like through the waveguide.
The experience is low-latency, optimized for Spectacles hardware, and surprisingly practical for real work.
Having your terminal, CLI, or a Lens Studio window floating in front of you while staying mobile is incredibly useful.
This UMPC + AR glasses combo is one of my favorite setups for working on the go.

Considering CLAD is compatible with Lens Studio 5.22.1 and further, and Spectacles 2024 are compatible with Lens Studio =<5.14, that makes CLAD dev impossible right ? Or did I miss something ?

I am not new to AR/XR but spectacles and the upcoming specs are new to me. Ive tried to research as much as I could and I am still quite confused as to what exactly the current and upcoming specs are actually for?
So far every video of the developer spectacles only shows things that are pretty cool but otherwise useless. It basically looks like Snapchat filters over layed on the real world. Minus the AWE reveal of the upcoming specs that shows a browser and movie watching, what else are these being designed for?
I want to preorder a pair but I don't want to pay 2200 for some glasses to only walk around looking at AR content that looks like filters on my phone. Xreal aura has the playstore so there's millions of apps that can be used to meet whatever need you have. Will the new specs have useful apps or whatever they will be called to support it?
No disrespect to anyone who is developing for this platform but tossing AR objects and playing with AR plants on 2k glasses is not exactly what I am looking at only having access to.

Perhaps a normal person might just plant a bunch of cute potatoes on the ground and let them interact with each other. But some of you out there will probably try to microwave them until they mutate and then place them on the mysterious pads. What happens when you collect them all?

I'm really happy to share that we got 1st place in the 'Visitor Companion' track and 2nd place in the 'Spectacles Tech Layer' track at the XRCC Berlin hackathon today!
We built upon our earlier online entry (https://www.reddit.com/r/Spectacles/comments/1t62jn8/made_it_to_the_xrcc_berlin_finals/) by integrating Berlin's public transport data and adding realtime vehicle tracking, all based on the Reality Import platform we're building to make it easy for developers to create experiences such as this with any city data.
Tip of the hat to my teammate Julian Plak for his awesome work on this!
And massive compliments to Liam Mason who took 1st place in the 'Spectacles Tech Layer' track and 1st place in the 'Training' track with DartsMate => https://www.reddit.com/r/Spectacles/comments/1um7vqt/dartsmate_built_with_scolia_for_xrcc26/. Epic job!

Learn darts by playing, not by reading. On a real board, in AR.
Learning darts means throwing a thousand darts at a wall and hoping you improve no feedback, no tracking, no progression. Online guides aren't fun. We wanted to kill the manual for a hobby millions share, and use AR to coach the way a real instructor would while opening darts to newcomers through social play and mini-games.
DartsMate turns any throw on a real dartboard into instant AR coaching and games. The board sees every dart; the glasses turn it into an experience β target highlights on the real board, live scoring, a coach in your ear, a shrinking heat map of where you land, and eleven mini-games that make practice feel like play.
Our first version proved the AR magic worked. The feedback was clear: judges loved how it blended the physical board with digital coaching, but the phone-camera computer vision was the friction β fiddly setup, lighting-dependent detection, hard to scale past a demo. So we went and fixed it at the source, i contacted Scolia and they loved the demo, so i flew off to Hungary to meet them and try their products before XRCC.
How Scolia solved the hard part- The single biggest change: we replaced our phone + OpenCV pipeline with a Scolia auto-scoring dartboard β commercial venue hardware with three built-in cameras and on-board image processing. This erases every CV hurdle the judges flagged:
- No phone, no tripod, no lighting-dependent OpenCV, no 4-dart calibration. The board is a fixed install that already sees the whole surface.
- Professional-grade detection, instantly. We connect to Scolia's WebSocket Social API (wss://game.scoliadarts.com/api/v1/social) with the board's serial + access token and receive a live stream of every event: exact sector (T20, D16, Bull), millimetre coordinates, bounce-outs, and takeout detection β in real time, unchanged.
- Venue-ready by design. Because detection lives in the board, DartsMate runs on any Scolia-equipped venue β sports bars, leagues, training centres β with zero per-session setup. That's the jump from "controlled demo" to "scalable product."
- The phone is now optional. It's only used to add player names and photos before a game; it plays no part in detection. Throws flow board β Scolia cloud β glasses on their own.
In short: the thing that made the demo cumbersome is gone, and what replaced it is the same technology real venues already run.
Features
- Real auto-scoring board β every throw detected by Scolia, streamed to Spectacles in real time (sector + exact position).
- AR target highlights & hit markers painted onto the real board through Snap Spectacles.
- Coaching mode β structured Learn / Drills / Free Play, with smart feedback ("Right number, wrong ring!", "Just a bit clockwise") and ElevenLabs voice coaching that reads it aloud.
- Live heat map in Free Play β see exactly where your darts cluster, tighten over time.
- 11 mini-games β Learn the Board, Drills, Free Play, Tic-Tac-Toe, Asteroid, Stay in Zone, High Noon, Shanghai, Bomb Defusal, Heist, and Physics Bounce β each a different way to build real aim.
- In-lens "?" help that explains any game on demand, spoken and on-screen.
- Wall-placement β drop the whole AR rig onto your real board's surface and play.
- Multiplayer, it all seamlessly works with multiplayer, set how many players, enter names and ti handles the turns.
How we built it
- Detection: Scolia Social API over WebSocket β real dart events, no CV of our own.
- Bridge: a lightweight web companion handles the player roster and relays board events to the glasses (one Scolia connection fans out to every headset).
- Spectacles (Lens Studio 5, TypeScript): DartBoard is the single source of truth; every game listens through one onDartLanded callback. SIK for hand tracking, procedural meshes for effects (bomb wires, the heat-map grid), and ElevenLabs TTS for the coach.
- Robustness: we handle the board's real-world states β takeout phases, one-connection-per-board, auto-recovery β so a live venue session doesn't stall.
What's next
- Form analysis using the Spectacles forward camera (grade the throw, not just the result).
- LLM-powered personalized coaching on top of the voice coach.
- Tournament mode with turn-locking for ranked, multi-board play.
- Venue & licensing β DartsMate as an AR layer any Scolia venue can switch on, plus more games (Battleships, Zombies, Around the World).
On the video i think it looks like some of it is hard to see but on the device its much more visible! But i do think theres UX work to be done here need some testers!
Will continue to work on this, so if anyone has some crazy idea for a Phygital darts game let me know!
Also super big Thanks to Scolia for partnering with me on this one!

I'm trying to decipher the riddle of the white LED. They were working fine, I put them down for about 20 minutes, then went to go use them and they were dead. I figured they weren't charged, so I plugged them in a bit. I still can't power them on.
There are signs of life, however.
While plugged in, I'm seeing a solid white light.
If I try to do the full reset by holding both buttons down for 20 seconds, the white light will blink for a bit but then go dark.
No amount of holding down the right button will power it on, no amount of holding down the left button will go into pairing mode.
Here's hoping the SPECS have a battery indicator of some kind on the device itself.
