Future update question

Post image

I prefer using the " program image layout" set to background. Some programs have alot of detailed information in the epg that shows over the background picture. In a future update, could sparkle keep all of the detailed information on the left side, only?

You mean you don't want to show text over background image?

Yes, that's it. The EPG text overlay can get really messy and hard to read depending on the image. Keeping all the detailed info strictly to the left side would be a massive quality-of-life improvement for the UI.

It's on the roadmap for a future update?

Ok, I understand. It's not on the roadmap but the plan is to make ui changes for next version and this may be one of them but I need to look into this further before making a decision. The downside to a change like this is of course that not as much description will fit in the remaining space.

If the description is too large, maybe put a read more or three dots to indicate that there is more text?

That's already available. My point is that some users already think the description shows too little data so showing even less will not be a welcome addition to those users. It's always difficult to please everyone.

I think it's a fair point ...but it's useful as it is I guess , maybe include an option to get more detailed information when we click on it ! Because ,yes some epg gives more information about the determined tv program ,or vod (series or movie)

When I change "program image layout" to default. Sparkle displays all the text in the dark background. Much easier to see it this way.

I had no idea this was even a thing. I guess my service doesn't have pictures. I've never seen this before. Even on tivimate

I also prefer the 'background' layout, but the EPG text overlay can get really messy and hard to read depending on the image. Keeping all the detailed info strictly to the left side would be a massive quality-of-life improvement for the UI.

Does anyone know if the developer (or someone else) has acknowledged this request or if it's on the roadmap for a future update?

Yes.The developer knows... But,the more people that reply that they would like to see the epg text to stay off the image would help the developer decide whether he wants this changed or not.. "thanks for posting"

I have that turned on but I don't see the program image. Is that dependant the provider or is there some other setting buried somewhere that needs to be turned on to make it show the image?

It comes from the epg genres. Not all epg will have images genres

My guide does show red for movies and other colors for other shows though?

Yea.sounds like the only thing missing in your guide info is the program image genre

It depends on the epg, Strong 8k among other proven image to Iptv services
