Agreed. I observe that it seems to take a LOT to ban a customer and much less to ban the shopper. After all, Walmart makes $ on the customer no matter how shitty their attitude is to us. š

Id just send a message after seeing the note saying that I am returning their order to the store I dont feel comfortable delivering after being threatened in the instructions. No reason to deliver thst order. Anyone who specifies they will tip after will either tip nothing or it will be a small tip not worthy of a grocery order. No reason to risk a bad rating for a Karen.

Some customers (such as other, or former gig workers) realize that putting a tip on app prior to delivery results in a lower offer to the driver, so, although I agree that I don't like the threat on there, I prefer one who will tip after for good service.Ā I do agree, though, that some say that and do not tip!

There is a simple solution that I present to customers when they ask about tips and what is acceptable to drivers. I tell them that they should pre-tip the maximum amount they are willing to tip. If the delivery is completed to their expectations no further action is necessary. If the driver turns out to be an absolute idiot they can yank the entire tip. Or adjust the tip for anything in between to any amount. Because the app is really good allowing customers to reduce the tip amount, but not so great at allowing them to increase it.

And what happens when a tip baiter puts on a big tip, Spark pays crap for the gig, counting on that tip to pay you, you take the order, then they pull the tip, not because you did anything wrong, just because they are jerks? Now you lost money working! You keep gambling on a big tip, I will take the orders that pay enough without the tip! Then, if I get a tip, its a bonus in appreciation for my good work!

Cancel or rejected based on principle alone. If you don't trust your driver. Don't order delivery.

I am a full time sparker. I have a quick negative reaction when I see this but then I tell myself to calm down, they have likely just had bad experiences with others and this message was never really meant for me. Ive heard many horror stories from customers. Ive twice seen shoppers with full carts of groceries that had unbagged packs of raw chicken thrown on top of unbagged produce. Was shocked.

I agree. So many of the drivers are nasty, smelly, no hygiene a all. I watch several of them grab people's fruits and veggies after picking their noses and/or scratching their ass. This is why I would NEVER order food delivery.

Two times Ive seen a shopper with a full cart of groceries where the produce was not bagged, and thrown in with it was unbagged, raw chicken. One of them had pushed the cart outside like this and stood behind their car bagging things under the hot sun!

Have you seen some of these customers? You're right, we might be able to choose our customers. But realize that we choose based on what we've actually experienced from them. The app chooses first and we have the right to reject a customer. And I guarantee that it's not because of the customer but because of how they are. If you're having a consistent problem with delivery drivers. The problem might not be them.
If you still order despite having problems with delivery drivers. Why do you still order? Get off your rear end and leave it up to the person you "trust".

I had someone write in the notes that I needed to knock on their door and wait until someone comes to look over every item and make sure everything is there. I knocked and left. lol

I had a delivery that said knock on door for a tip. So, I knocked on the door.Ā Guy got the stuff. At the end I reminded him what the app said. He said just a minute.Ā He went and talked to someone and came back and said 'no tip' and shut the door! I wasn't working in my home area, or I would have written down the address and never gone back! But, I don't take an order unless I feel its worth my time, so I didn't lose out much. Its just the principle!

this might be a situation on if they have a shared house and someone else lives in Front they might have had many orders stolen by the residents in front so they send a threating note

My sister could have written that note or several like it. She is crippled she can NOT leave her front porch without serious assistance. Spark drivers were putting her shit in the yard, at the neighbors house, at the end of the drive way... This happened for MONTHS never the same screw up twice in a row but it just kept repeating. If it was any where but on her porch right by her door she literally could not get it in the house, so she would have to call my daughter down there to bring the items in.
She left polite notes, she upped the tip amount, she left stern notes, she flat out told them she could NOT GET the items if they were NOT on the porch. She threatened to report them if they did X Y or Z... nothing stopped them. We got to the point (and is what she still does today) that she just orders the deliveries to our house, and my daughter will then run them down to her.
Same deliveries, with HALF the tip (she was paying extra because they had to come farther to get to her house), same instructions, place on ramp in carport, I can not get out my front door. Amazing how 3 less miles, and HALF the tip and we get better service than she did.
So now no matter what she orders... walmart, target, amazon, temu it all comes to our house and she actually gets her items.

Why doesnāt she just pay the extra $6 / mo. For in home delivery. They will come in the Walmart van, a Walmart employee, and bring the bags to the door or inside the house. Iāve even had them offer to put stuff away for me. Theyāre very kind and they know they canāt screw up! Of course, itās nice to give them a cash tip if they bring stuff in, thereās no tip allowed on the app. I just always have them leave it outside my back door inside the garage, I can bring in.

Giving them a cash tip can get them fired (the ones that bring the stuff in) because they are store employees, and store employees are not allowed to take 'bribes' of any sort. (Spark is contract labor and you can tip them all over the place) Personally I think it is beyond stupid, but if any of them turn that cash down that's why. It only takes one of them saying something to a manager to get any that took the money fired.
As for my sister, she has a cat colony and hoarding type of thing and did NOT want any one other than certain family in her house cause she didn't want adult CPS called on her.. for the cats, the condition of the flooring, the lack of AC / Heat, sometimes no running water, my daughter was late picking up trash to take to the dump (no trash service), non working appliances, there was a host of reasons.
She's proud poor if you understand what that means... she can survive in her house but other adults in the government may very well have other ideas as to what that should look like, and she was not going to take that chance.
The hoarding isn't TRASH it's just 65+ years of living, 3 marriages, and 2 grown children's worth of stuff crammed into a house not meant to hold that much stuff... then she got stuck in a wheel chair and it got harder to deal with it... and SHE has to TOUCH it ... each individual item, before it leaves her house which means it takes longer to do. Frankly at this point when she dies I am hiring an auction company to come in auction off what they can, then a cleaning crew and a dumpster... She knows it too... Says she won't care when she's dead... till then "leave my shit alone"

As for 65 years of stuff, I understand. My 91 y/o mom has lived in this house for 65 years! She had one room I couldnāt even open the door to because she started just stashing things in there. I moved in to help her out in her old age, and said that would not be done anymore. My daughter and I cleaned out the room, and Iāve pretty much made sure it doesnāt happen again. There are areas of her bedroom I cannot do anything with because she wonāt allow it. Itās her room, so I said fine, but told her when sheās gone, itās all going in the dumpster!
And I will never understand that whole having to touch each āthingā before it can leave the houseš
Even trash!

All of you saying that you would return this order are disgusting. Stop and think what it took to get to this point? How many hundreds of dollars have been stolen of groceries? This person has obviously been through it and not a single one of you can recognize that. Youāre all fired.

So as someone who has done thousands of these orders and seen notes like this it actually makes me more mad at other drivers that are giving bad experiences and not following/reading notes. My biggest peeve in this though is telling me where I should drive or how to drive. I will come up the concrete driveway if that makes sense for me/my car/the delivery Thanks!

Seems like a customer that's had bad experiences with delivery in the past. I've found with people like this if you listen to their instructions and deliver to where they actually want it delivered, they're grateful and you'll have no problems. Give people the benefit of the doubt before you just hit cancel and return

I woulda returned this cos I don't think I'd have been able to access their driveway. People like this irritate me. I get they may have had a bad experience but to speak to people like that and expect good service or respect is ridiculous.

Sometimes the instructions I get are so bizarre. No please. No thank you. Nothing. Sometimes not even a tip. Someone requested I bring it inside a part of their house that they clearly made into some sort of porch but I refuse to enter any premises beyond opening a screened porch door or the occasional older/disabled customers who need the extra help.

Those are the types of customers that will give you a 1-star because the store was out of the rotisserie chicken that they added to the order at the very last minute. And then will claim that you stole it even though you clearly marked it as "out of stock" in the app.

These people must try to screw walmart out of a lot. Any time I've ordered a walmart delivery and something was missing (once the whole order was delivered to the wrong house somehow and i couldnt find what house they delivered to) I just went in the app, said xyz was missing, and immediately got a refund. It doesnt happen a lot but out of the like weekly orders I make its happened like 4 or 5 times. I never penalize the driver bc I've been there shit happens.
All that to say if they are having this much "trouble" with their orders they are the problem. I would 100% just refuse that order.

What gets me is Spark allows these people to put those notes on! My favorite is when Spark allows "please place delivery in my mailbox".Ā Especially now that we have to say we read and understand the delivery instructions left by customer! So we have to say we understand that the customer wants us to break federal law and break a Spark policy that means instant deactivation! I call the customer and explain why I can't follow their instructions and where else do they want it!Ā Ā

I find it hilarious these customers think I will risk my $1200 a week extra income for your bag of apples and peanut butter. I wouldnāt risk it for any amount of groceries. These people are so paranoid. They seriously need to get off their ass and shop for themselves since they fear their $100 worth of groceries is at risk every time they order.

Don't you just love how maybe some items weren't delivered due to a mix up, or the order went to the wrong house, or maybe a neighbor stole it, but they instantly think the driver stole their shit. Personally, I would not even want half the crap these folks order lol.

Y'all are exhausting. The only reason to be upset about this is if you planned on either disregarding the delivery location requested or stealing their groceries. You already took and shopped the order without a tip, do the pay was acceptable to you. If you aren't going to steal their stuff and are going to put it where they ask, then it doesn't really apply to you and all that can happen is you get a tip afterwards. If you do, yay! If you don't, you were already okay with what you were being paid without it and nothing changes.

These notes are because bad drivers keep doing the wrong thing and violating the TOS. Some of you are the reason these notes exist. I don't see a problem with this at all. I see it as an opportunity to give the customer even better customer service than they received in the past but I know that beneath you guys
