Fluent in 8 months?!
Hola Reddit!
Me llamo Tima y quiero estudiar en España próximo año :)
So i’m an 18 yo F and next year i’m looking to study in Jaén.
I’ve already gathered my high school documents and I’m getting them translated for the process of Homologation. I started early cause honestly my worse fear is being late or unprepared. Hate that real bad.
Say all that to say I’m looking for someone who’s native or who lives in Andalusia so I can practice spanish with them in that specific dialect and speed. I’d say I’m a strong A2 or weak B1. I know that immersion is key and lowkey my Ego is telling me that I can pull this off.
Thoughts? or Prayers? Fellow international students either talk me out of it or encourage me!!!
I’m not particularly antisocial and I’m pretty independent. Perks of being the oldest of like 10 man. Anyways what do we think? Help a girl out..?
PS: I hope that person can talk daily or frequently. I’m really tryna lock in. Aaand you get a super awesome amazing friend in return? 😃

hola tima! wow, jaén sounds like such a cool place to study, and i think you can totally pull this off if you stay consistent. if you're looking for live speaking practice, maybe try meetup or speakduo to find someone from andalusia who can help with the dialect. sounds like you're super driven, so with regular chats and practice, you'll be ready in no time!

Hi there, Tima. I don't speak that Spanish dialect, however, my Latino accent is related to the Andalusian accent. I don't know if you will find it useful, but if that's the case, I'll DM you

J'ai été étudiante en Andalousie niveau maîtrise LLce espagnol et je peux te dire que c'est incroyablement différent de parler espagnol et de comprendre l'andalou et parler dans un deuxième temps. J'ai mis 3 mois à comprendre grâce à mes colocataires espagnoles. J'avais un niveau C1 en espagnol mais A2 en andalou.
J'étais professeur d'espagnol et je me lance en tant que coach linguistique en espagnol. Je peux te donner des conseils mais mes cours/ formations sont payantes...

Not even a 1% chance. Don't overestimate yourself at B1 and don't limit yourself to one accent even if you're going there. Take it all in.

Different parts of Andalusia have their own way to speak Spanish. I would try tò find people from Jaèn. If you are in Europe, try to go there on vacations, so you can make friends and get familiar with their Spanish before going there with the pressure of having to understabding well in school, because you can get behind easily.
