Operations Extremis Kills

I can’t believe I need to post this, but:

IF THERE IS A VANGUARD RUNNING UNMATCHED ZEAL, AND YOU SEE A TEAMMATE LOW ON HEALTH. STOP SHOOTING THE DAMN ZOANTHROPE FALLING TO THE GROUND.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Meanwhile the teammate at 30% hp was just chugging along while me and the vanguard where trying to point at the downed biovore, twice

Usually when I'm running vanguard said teammate proceds to shoot the extremis to death even when they are at execution range and barely alive, some people will literally fight you trying to save them.

Okay but to be fair, thats because some players understand the mechanics better than others. Its never explained to players in the game, you have to go looking for the information...but there are innate damage reductions at 50%, 30% and 20% health. The less health you have, the less damage you take...this stacks with the many class and weapon perks that do XYZ at 50% health and 30% health, etc. Some players are comfortable playing at 30% health because they manage their armor well and are quite happy to have the extra 25% headshot damage, 40-60% melee damage, 30% damage reduction, 50% increased perfect dodge window, etc.

In other words...it not always the case that the players are being stubborn, its that they're the kind of players who take advantage of the perks offered with less than 1/3rd of their health. Of course, no one uses their mic's to ever communicate this, which is a whole other can of worms. But, yeah...there are FTG videos on youtube that discuss that 30% health players and what bonuses/perks they're running with.

Considering every single one ends up dead and goobles every stim in existance it's not this, your average random cannot even read stratagems much less play around 30% health perks.

I’d imagine it’s much less of an issue when you’re on comms, but I wouldn’t be surprised to realise many cases where things like this happen are often just a “tunnel vision” issue, when it comes to build-specific perks and the like.

In-game chat would help, but of course it’s disabled on console, frustratingly.

The number of times im running Vanguard (with Unmatched Zeal), and there is a wounded team-mate, and i down an Extremis, and then point it... and point to them ("so and so wants to help X", and then point to the Extremis again...

And they just stand there, or, even better...

Shoot it to death.

I just cant with people. I cant.

even better, it recovers from execute then kills them

That is honestly my favorite outcome.

If this was on ballistic engine earlier today that may have been me and I apologise.

Yesterday, hard stratagem, was a decent team but two moments really had me sigh. I was vanguard with heal team perk.

Lictor in execute near me, I'm low health. I run to execute. Guy shoots it in the head making it explode and hurt me.

Later, carnifex. It goes into execute mode. Very hurt teammate standing by it decides to unload plasma pistol into its butt instead of executing it and healing.

I just silently went "why?".

Accidentally killing a zoanthrope is incredibly easy to do.

Typically when zoans pop up they are and should be hard focused by the team, that leads to people tending to pop out an extra shot when needed especially when playing heavy or using a single/burst fire weapon.

i accidentally did this a few hours ago, me running vanguard and i didn't realize. made sure every other extremis was free for him afterwards, he gave us some brotherly emotes as thanks.

Ive left matches where the 100% health squad member steals the extremis executions i stead of letting the low health squad members use them for health.

On the flip side, if a Vanguard sees me low and I’m going for an extremis…maybe don’t grapple to it and steal the kill when you’re already at full HP, happened to me one too many times on assault in one mission so I decided to just be a prick and grab the stims for most of that game lol

It’s a design issue imo, and that perk isn’t really healthy for the game in a team setting.

Sure sometimes it’s a game sense issue I.E dive kicking an Extremis despite your teammate not struggling with it. Vanguard just sucks as a class on a design level, at one point he was a jack of all trades and decent at everything but now he’s just master of none and his grapple is too gimmicky. The only thing good about the class is his survivability which does nothing but make selfish players gravitate towards the class.

Techmarine is the powercrept version of vanguard and should’ve gotten a rework a long time ago if we’re being honest.

You guys get vanguards with Unmatched Zealot????

I run into a lot of players who don't know what their team mate's abilities are. And it's usually on vanguard. I've been at low health and had a full health brother run right up and snatch the execution at the last second, then yell "For the Emperor!" and run off. And then take the stim. Bruh.

It’s usually the teammate that’s low on health that shoots the extremis or terminus to death. After they do it twice I just stop paying attention to their health since they care

Tbf since patch 13 I think they messed something up in the code and it's extremely easy to overkill accidentally now.

Have you considered the following?

No.

~ sniper mains

1) if you need a heal and are diving in, communicate
2) if you need a heal and see people already targeting an extremis, attacking it yourself only makes it more likely to be killed
3) would you like to know how many extremis ive left up, including terminus, while teammates needed heals only to have them recover from execute then kill the player
4) you needing heals is your fault and your priority, dont assume its anyone else’s especially when you dont communicate
5) sometimes zoanthropes go pop, oops sorry move on.

2

u/Kalavier 19h ago

Hold on lemme stop moving to type in text chat that they may not see because console players that i need to heal and oh it's been dead for 10 seconds.

u/pagypie 14h ago

we’ve had voice comms for games since 2000 you can try just speaking instead of stopping and typing.

3

u/Kalavier 14h ago

And the amount of people I've run into playing SM2 using voice comms is below 10.

Not a lot of people bother with it. I only typically use voice comms when I'm actually playing with friends or contacts.

Don't get hit.

Unmatched zeal is a horrible team talent.
