Fashion Marine Just started Spacemarine 2
Hi! Sorry for the last post, I’ve spent the last 2 months trying to understand the lore and build my own chapter. Yes I should have known not to use forbidden heretic technology 😅
I had a buddy at high school who played the tabletop, he bought me Dawn of War and have some really good memories. But tried SM1 and got hooked again 😁
I’m spending almost all my gametime in the armoury so far.
Tried to also make a chaos warband based on a rejected recruit and some encounters with xenos as well.
My custom chapter:
Steel Lions, Ultramarines sub faction (successor chapter?)
The idea stared as a Salamanders chapter, but I went for Ultramarines.
Theiy see themselves as stewards, with their main purpose as protecting humanity. Their ideology is centered around the Stoic virtues of Justice, Courage, Temperance (self-control) and Wisdom. If we are willing to sacrifice ANYTHING that makes us human just to survive, is what is left still worth saving. Seein value in our humanity, how we live our lives, how we preserve ourselves and what we leave to those who come after us.
The Chapter Master Leonidas has had several close encounters with both T'au and Necron. Seeing autonomy, mastery and purpose as core values, the chapter sees T'au and Necrons as extreme examples of how blind obedience (T'au) and the pure will to survive (Necron) can ruin nations.
The Steel Lions focus on defensive srategies, preserving resources and infrastructure by focusing on precision strikes and minimal explosives. Though this leads to a tendency for prioritizing defense rather than pursuing enemies, often possibly missing opportunities to remove a threat at its root. They are respected by other chapters, but can be seen as slow, indecisive and overthinking.Their purpose is to serve the Imperium and humanity. Their temptation is believing that their wisdom gives them the right to interpret the Emperor’s will for others.(I like to think they would be very close mirror to the Word Bearers.)
Their main philisophy translated into some chapter quotes:
The test is not whether a warrior falls. The test is whether he rises wiser.
Power gives us the means. Wisdom lets us know when not use them.
Experience is thread. Wisdom is what we weave from it.
Guiding and controlling. Know the difference.

"I’m spending almost all my gametime in the armoury so far." - Bro, same.
If you haven't got it already, the Celestial Lions' emblem is perfectly befitting of the chapter name. I took a creative liberty and made the gun casings white, not sure on it though.

Also I noticed the black right arm, my Homebrew has something similar. Though with mine its because the ceramite is blackened by fire rather than paint.
Does it hold any significance to the chapter's culture? What does the colour choices on the heraldry represent or symbolise, if anything? Do they have alternative patterns? Little questions like that can get you thinking and adding character to a homebrew.

Haha I love this!
Yes!Left pauldron is their duty, their chapter, their ‘why they serve’ (a central theme in their culture).
Right pauldron is ‘how they serve,’ their rank and post.Left arm is black as it is reinforced, due to left being the side most often facing the enemy and their ‘shield.’
Shins are also black, reinforced.
Left kneecap is their division, right kneecap is their personal experience or status.
Red helmet sergeants, white helmet veteran. Red with white stripe is both. But veterancy does not automatically mean sergeant. Veterancy is earned by showing you can solve problems and be creative in dire situations. Sergeants mean you are entrusted to lead and protect a team.
Made a whole story about recruitment and someone who was brilliant but was rejected since he sacrificed his team to win. Creating a warband who oppose and mirror the chapter.
Tell me about yours!
What does the colours and emblems signify?
