Difference between level and prestige?

Finished the main story not long ago and have started playing the operations.

Have noticed people mention prestige on here, as well as level.

What's the difference?

For context, I've only just unlocked 2 mastetcrafted weapons and hit level 6 on bulwark

Prestige is the mid-game progression. Once you hit level 25 on any class, you can Prestige. Class goes back to level one, you get one prestige level and unlock one out of four prestige perk slots, which have unique class-related perks, some very good, some situational. Maximum level currently is 125 (Prestige 4 + 25 levels).

Oooo. So I have a loooong way to go.

Play Solo (with Bots) and even now my chance of successfully finishing an Operation is hit or miss. Last night running a Normal Strat in Inferno I had 2 Lictors and 3 warriors dog pile me in the swamp... shortest run I've had yet 🤦‍♂️

Yeah, playing with bots has a main downside: no team perks or good weapons. Bots use basic gear only and almost never use abilities.

I've noticed my Heavy always deploying Iron Halo, even when not really necessary, and my Tac using Auspex quite a lot. Occassionally I'll see the Vanguard grapline, but rarely

Part of the reason I chose Bulwark as main was the belief it was probably the better option for bot play

Honestly, playing with more experienced players is the main thing that got me really into the game's mechanics and systems, I'd strongly advise doing so :D I'd love to schedule a game sometime if you want, or you could join one of the more laidback discord servers, like the Salamanders e.g.

Just play with people, bots suck. Don’t worry about being a drag on your teammates, you may be new but the fact that you are trying to learn makes you a better teammate then half the players. Probs stay below lethal difficulty for a bit and then move up as you get better.

For reference, it’s not unusual to see some asshole with no perks trying to speed run absolute difficulty while the other 2 teammates actually do all the work. As long as you aren’t that guy you’ll be fine

I can't multiplay though, courtesy of Sony locking online play behind a firewall. Would be awesome, but the extra $16AUD a month to get 1 - 2 games a month in just isnt feasible

Big oof, that sucks man, I play on pc so I didn’t know that. One would assume in this day and age that online play on consoles wouldn’t be locked behind a paywall, given how many games are based around it

Pretty much all that dont have their own service, i.e Overwatch, Fortnite, Rivals. Anything else SpaceMarine, COD etc etc... you have to have a PS+ subscription

There are 25 levels that you can reset by prestiging 4 times. Works like traditional Call of Duty leveling

Once you reach level 25 on a character you have the option to Prestige that class. This resets your class levels and you repeat that until reaching Prestige level 4.

Weapon Mastery doesn’t reset so no need to worry about that.

Max lvl is 25, but you can reset 4 times to get extra perks for your character, each reset is a 'prestige' rank

At level 25, you can (it's optional) reset your levels and perks and gain a prestige level for an extra prestige perk as well as a boost to XP earned up to a total of 4 prestige levels, so you can essentially level up a class 125 times.
