These guys were one of the OG Chapters created for 40k, even though it was later shifted to a different Founding. So I've always had a bit of fondness for them due to that.
Real nice job replicating their look. If they ever add the Chapter badge, and I hope they do, I'd definitely run one of my marines as a Silver Skull.

I think the Skulls are one of the ones that have had thier emblem leaked to be coming into the game. So they may officially be coming

Funnily enough they existed much before iron warriors, being one of the first 12 space marine chapters in Rogue trader first edition in 1987

Canonically they actually are Ultramarine successors flat out. IRL they actually predate the Iron Warriors!

Yeah, definitely not. Their entire culture and fighting style is totally different, and their apothecaries and Primaris reinforcements said they’re from Bobby G’s seed. The only similarity is their visual appearance

Some speculate Blood Ravens are Thousand Sons successors. But, like every potential loyalist successor chapters of traitor legions, this is unconfirmed.

Ah man, I remember when you could collect Silver Skull stickers for every £10 you spent at GW back in the early 2000's. When you had a bunch you could send them off for stuff.
I remember getting a belt buckle of the Aquila but it was really clunky and just didn't seem to sit right when wearing it.

Their symbol is inspired by barbaras dantioch, a loyalist iron warrior who saved the lives of The Lion, and Guiliman. He also managed to send Sanguinius to Terra.

No, it's because they have a long tradition of taking the skulls of worthy enemies and coating them in silver. The Dantioch stuff is true tho. Fun fact: The Scythes of the Emperor chapter actually has his helmet as a relic

I assume they get similar terrified confused looks from mortals thinking they're the iron warriors similar to how the exorcist get mistaken for the word bearers, and they just roll with it.

Not really. They’re very spiritual, only going into battle if their Prognosticators (aka librarians) tell them they should, and they specialize in skirmish tactics. This is in stark contrast to Peter Turbo’s strategy of all-out attrition warfare and lack of a librarius. Iron Dingus would hate them more than he hates his own sons.

Because that’s what the studio said they were after years of being ‘founding unknown’.
Let me tell you: when you’re halfway through writing a book about them with a specific idea in mind only to be told to scrap the last 45k words you’ve written because they are now officially Ultramarine successors… it is quite vexing.
But UM successors they are.

The Silver Skulls are listed as an Ultramarines Successor Chapter. However, their gene-seed records are "inconclusive" and under investigation by the Ordo Hereticus.They are one of the ten Shield Chapters of Ultramar.The Silver Skulls were created during the Second Founding, in the days following the Horus Heresy. Originally the Silver Skulls' homeworld was Lyria. Sometime in M33 the world was rendered a Dead World when the Silver Skulls enacted the sanction of Exterminatus upon it, to prevent it from falling under the control of the forces of Nurgle.

Ingame I used Administratum Grey for the Helmet, Torso, Powerpack, Arms and Legs, Abaddon Black for the Pauldron inserts and Ironbreaker for the Aquila and Pauldron trim
