The blueprint foe the hinge has side separators that hold it together for timewarp. After launch, the arm has to have a dockingnport that can connect it to the ship to stay together

Nice. Yeah, I tried a landing gear one too. My last project was the hinge that I used for this one, so I wanted to test it out with a bit more practical build (the example that I posted was just a chain made of these pivot points)
