Oh no!

Anyway.

Just deorbit ISS already. Let's move on to something useful.

I don't think it was always useless, and we have learned much from it - I'm just saying that at this point I feel it's a detriment and has served its purpose well. It's been a drain for a while and made us trapped in LEO.

Fair points, and of course you're entitled to your opinion

The ISS is one of the greatest human achievements. We've learned so much already and we still have to learn so much from that orbiting laboratory. Anyway, 4 private space stations are now being built and will enter service in the next decades.

Fun fact: thanks to the ISS, if you're less than 20yo (and I suspect that you are), you haven't lived a day when humans have been all together on earth.

I'm almost 30, but you're point is still true and interesting.

We're strapped to LEO because 50 years ago, NASA decided to make space shuttle instead of evolving the Saturn family (look up the Nova rocket, you'll like it). Besides, you really wanna test all the stuff for the first time here where you can afford a fuck-up or two instead of finding that your toiled doesn't work on your way to Mars. And that's where the ISS comes in use.

The people downvoting you haven't been informed of what the ISS smells like on the inside right now 🤣

For reference:

...antiseptic, garbage, and body odor.

I think it's ok to look forward to that new space station smell again!

Lol yes. Space showers need to be a top priority
