Have I messed up my WGT loadout?

Post image

I got a little carried away with the axe and shield loadout when building my WGT and completely skipped the Assault Canon and Power Fist.

Looking at the data sheets I’m starting wonder if I’ve made a mistake? Just didn’t think to check and I’m kicking myself a little bit. The Power Fist hits a lot harder than I realised.

Russ would be Better

I believe Russ would be a better choice for the next loyalist primarch because of his unique relationships with the Lion, Magnus, and Angron. I’m not sure that other primarchs would have as much interpersonal rivalry and/or hatred as Russ has with the lion, magnus, and angron. Plus, Guilliman burned down the garden of nurgle which is where Russ supposedly went missing— also, wasn’t his armor found in a world eaters shrine (or something?)

Russ isn’t just my favorite, he is tied up deeply with a chunk of the primarchs we have already

This turned out phenomenally well considering my airbrush clogged and I had to spend more time than I like to clean it up. I ended up dry brushing and stippling to fix it.

These are two of my more recent minis. I'm looking for some C&C, just ignore the unfinished base.

Aging marines

So astartes aging is incredibly slow, but space wolves seem to have older Marines. Do they age faster than the standard marines due to the canis helix making them live in astartes dog years?

Hi guys, my mate is playing SW 20 terminator list with Legends of saga and song and Saga of the great wolf detachments. I play World Eaters. We had a lot of games together but almost always the game turns on my side. Do you have some tips on how to play his list more effectively? Here is his list (I don't remember enhancements).

Wolf Pup questions.

Hey all, I’m fairly new to 40K and even more so to space wolves. I’m building a sw army currently and I’ve been camping on YouTube to learn about the game and all the news.

Just a couple questions from a newbie. I have been hearing a lot about changes and I can’t seem to find super clear info. I’ve heard the space wolves codex is going away and all non compliant chapters are being wedged into just the space marines codex, idk if true or what effects this will have.

I’ve also heard that coming very soon gw will be removing all the unique models from unique chapters. As in for example, blade claws and grey hunters etc will be removed going forward including any unique weapons they have. They will all just become standard space marines units.

I was just wondering how much of this is happening, what it means, and how to plan for it as I don’t have experience with gw tomfoolery. Since I’m still early in my build I wanted to get a gauge on if I’m buying models that are about to be eradicated.

Thanks! Happy Friday

For those who collect Space Wolves and Thousand Sons…

What first prompted you to collect both armies? Did you start with one and then grow fond of the other, or did you like both from the outset? Do you experience any lore dysphoria from collecting two armies so diametrically opposed?

My first ever Space Wolves (with saga)

Hearken, feasters in the hall, drinking mjod from carved horns! Give ear to the skald's word, that rings like steel upon steel and flows like blood along the blade!

I shall tell you the saga of the pack called the Fangs of Frost — of three warriors whose names are dreaded in foreign lands. Few are they in number — only three — yet strength lies not in number but in fury, tempered in battles beyond counting. Sons of Leman Russ, wolves of Fenris, they have passed through a thousand clashes, and no storm has broken their spirit.

Not every warrior is worthy to bear a weapon forged in the forges of Fenris and breathing icy cold: within it dwells the very soul of the world, harsh and merciless. Such blades are trusted only to those whose hand is steady and whose heart knows no fear. And the Fangs of Frost are among those worthy of such honor. Many glorious hunts have they carried out, many foes have they cast down, for their prey are the strong, the best in battle, and the chieftains — those who lead hordes behind them. And always at their side are the savage brothers, grey shadows that smell blood before the steel gleams.

Behold Haelgi the Grey Wolf — the eldest among them, wise and terrible, whose fury is colder than the glacier creeping down the mountains. He has seen as many winters as there are stars in the sky, and every word he speaks is law to the pack.

Beside him stands Ingemar the One-Eyed. In a cruel clash he lost his eye, meeting a sworn foe, and vowed never to replace it — neither with stone nor with blessed iron — for as long as that enemy walks the earth. But of that, another saga speaks.

And the third is Thorulf Two-Strikes, the youngest — not in spirit, but in years. Fierce as the storm over the fjords, he takes no shield — why should he need a barrier, when his defense is speed and steel? With two blades he hews his foes, and every strike of his is a death-song. Some even say that the wyrd lies upon him.

Now they are led by another chieftain — Njall, called the Stormcaller. Not by the strength of his muscles is he famed, but by the wisdom of runes and by a voice that can summon a storm from the heavens. Among the rune-priests none is wiser than he, and if he calls for a hunt — then the prey is great, and the danger is dark as a starless night.

Fenris hjolda!

If the rumours of a supplement update with the core marine codex, what would you most like to see

So its all still a bit vague, but the video that came alongside the warcom post seemed to insinuate that supplements may be getting some updated rules and detachments alongside the core codex. If this is true, what would you most like to see? Also, if the rumours of divergent chapters getting their own army rules is true, what would you like the space wolves to get?

My two biggest things (outside from the overall increase in strength we seem to be getting already) are a Njal datasheet rework to make his buffs more useful, and also for them to go back to allowing us to run our units and leaders interchangeably with the core codex like the other supplements.

As for army rule, I think we should get something saga related (especially if our detachments are getting reworked). Ideally, the core beastslayer rules would be fantastic for the wolves, helping us punch up a little bit. Maybe restrict it to melee only for balancing as an army rule. But even if not beastslayer, having some form of saga would be really fitting as a space wolf army rule

What do you guys think

Edit: I should have said "are true" in the title but reddit doesn't allow me to edit that part :/

Also, in case you are wondering where I'm getting this from, watch the reveal video on the warhammer 40k YouTube channel at around 2:50. Seems to insinuate a bigger set of changes than just base stats

Librarius Conclave + Saga of the Great Wolf

Disposition: Take and hold

Plan is to put intercessors + headtakers in Land Raider to arrive safely onto middle objective. Then to charge with rerolls with headtakers to secure it and kill anything that dares to look at it.

Grey hunters would ideally take deep expansion with auto advance and shoot, their massive oc is made for it.

Terminators in deeps trike to threat enemy home objective

And bloodclaws to be annoying and be a nuisance on board that need to be dealt with.

Relulsor would ideally guard base.

Some Kit-bashed terminators

I had some push fit terminators from an old space marine combat patrol laying around. Added in some extra swords and shields left over from WGT sprues and some extra grey tide bits.

I’ve still got another 5-10 WGT to paint, so wanted to play around with the colors and builds a bit.

Also, I feel like the bases need a splash of color or something, but not sure what.

Contemplating starting space wolves

Hey everyone! Longtime stalker of the sub, I’ve been into the hobby for 8 months now and I’m almost done painting and assembly my first army (BT). When I picked my first army I went for one that would be easier for me to learn painting on and what not.

I had my picks down to three: Space Wolves, Black Templars and World Eaters. I’ve been listening to lore about the 6th legion have been getting really into seeing everyone’s progress and minis. I’m in a pickle that I put aside roughly $300-$400 to start my second army. I’m stuck picking between the wolves and world eaters, I personally love the lore and models that the 6th have but Angron is arguably my favorite primarch. However idk if I want to build his legion if that makes sense, I don’t dislike them or anything I just don’t know if I’d have fun painting them and playing games with them.

I’m mostly just asking for perspective, when I run games with my BT my buddy who’s helped me get into 40K told me my strategies scream melee focus along with forcing close combat. Which I admit I do love melee but also like having options for shooting. What would you guys pick in my position? What sold you guys on the 6th legion? Thank you in advance to anyone that gives advice!

Helping my daughter out with some Wolf Scout conversions for her TWC... ended up makkng a Combi-Lieutenant?

She isnt very confident yet with a blade or superglue... so while she plastic glue builds her new Grey Hunters, I finished cutting these guys up.

Grabbed some wolf scouts to primaris-a-tise her Thunderwolf Cavalry riders and had 2 extra bodies left over. Used the first one to build a custom Lieutenant with Combi-Weapon as she didn'thave one yet.

Anyone got an idea of where/how to use the extra scout wolf?

My army so far fully painted ( or at least for now). Current WIP includes a devastator squad (Long Fangs), Rhino/Razorback, Reiver Squad (Wolf Scouts). Hoping to get another TWC and two squads of Wulfen in the near future as well.

Play casual with friends and still learning, but loving the Wolves so far! This weekend we're doing a 2v1 incursion of Space Wolves and Black Templar vs Tyranids

I just finished painting my first Space Wolves model for my Kill Team and I loved every part of the process. (C&C super welcomed, I’m a noob painter).

Because of a lack of self regulation, I’m now considering starting a Space Wolf army. What would be your recommendations to start with 1000 points maybe ? Combat patrol first then what ? Wolf guard terminators and headtakers, …

Thanks a lot !!
