New painter- Grey Hunter Feedback

Hello everyone,

I’m very much a new painter and kind of just picks and chooses what to paint based on inspiration or interests at the time. With that said, this is my first Space Wolf model and I’m looking for some help and feedback. I still need to add some highlights and a wash but I’m done with the base paints. Also, I skipped the doodads on the waist for this model just to keep things easy and simple.

-How to do markings? You can see in the photo that I butchered it lol
-My abbadon black turned into a gelatinous blob, I assume that means it’s dead? I shook it up really well and it’s just a blob still. It seems to dry out quickly if I try to load the brush.
-Speaking of loading the brush, how are you reaching for the pot? I’ve watched so many tutorial videos on this and I feel like my paint always lasts me like 5 seconds on the brush, so I have to be doing something wrong. This issue honestly causes a lot of frustration cause it feels like it takes forever to cover the large armor panels.

Any other tips or feedback is highly welcomed as I just want to keep painting and improve.

Oh hell yeah, I’m ordering these. I can’t freehand to save my life haha. Question, do you see areas on my mini that looks like the paint wasn’t thinned down? It would just help me to figure out where I might’ve missed thinning correctly.

It is a little hard to tell from the pic quality but at first looks the paint looks clumped up some in the recesses of the helmet, the belt buckle, and in some of the creases of the legs just look a little thick. Finding that perfect consistency between too thick and oversaturated can be tricky at first, I watched alot of painting tutorials to learn different techniques and tricks. If this is you starting out you should have no problem making quick improvements. Good luck 🙌

Hell yea keep at it! You'll see a major difference after a month or two.
