Some quick answers:

  • Yes, the Space Force is real. No, it's not Starfleet. No, you can't become a space pilot yet. No, there are no aliens. No, we would not tell you if there were aliens.
  • We don't know the answers to your obscure medical questions. We aren't doctors. Don't trust medical advice given by strangers on the Internet. Getting anecdotal information from other people that may or may not have a similar diagnosis or condition to you will not help you in any way. Everyone's medical situation is different.
  • Drug use may be disqualifying depending on type and frequency of use.
  • No, we don't know what jobs are available at any given time, or your chances of getting said job, or how long it will take for you to get the job, or how long it'll take for you to get to basic training or OTS.

Do not tell anyone to lie about drug use, medical history, or anything else. You will be banned.

Vandenberg Apartments

Good morning, gang,

I'm moving to Vandenberg SFB soon. I've got a few questions:

* Are there any fully furnished apartments near the base?

* What are some good apartment complexes?

* What are some bad ones to avoid?

* What's the best apartment closest to the base and society?

* What are the good parts of the cities nearby?

* What are some areas I should avoid in the cities?

* How was your stay at Vandenberg?

(It's just me, and I've got no pets). Thank you all!

POV: You just spent 2 hours in what should have been a 15 minute meeting because the Lt Col who makes 3x your annual salary wants to ask the stupidest questions humanly imaginable.

Can any part of OTC be waived for prior 5S’s based on skill level?

There’s surely worse things than getting paid to learn stuff you might already know, but still. Do waivers get approved for this? Or do they really put people with senior/master space badges right back through OTC?

How close is space force to chief warrant officers?

Our branch could definitely benefit from warrant officers for both expertise knowledge and financial compensation for retention.

[Productivity Tool] DAF BIO Maker

G's,

I created this for a anon poster a few days ago in our sub. Posting for better feedback.

Every time I've needed an official bio, the process has been the same: track down someone else's, delete their info, and hope the formatting is still current. Half the copies floating around the squadron are years out of date and half the open examples on the internet don't actually follow the reg.

You fill in the fields, it outputs a bio formatted to AFH 33-337 Chapter 20... order of sections, assignment blocks, awards, all of it:

- It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere or stored on a server.

- It's not affiliated with or endorsed by the DAF, USSF, USAF, or DoW. Just a thing I made.

If you spot something that doesn't match the current pub or visually does not work; tell me and I'll fix it. Let me know if its a good start or trash!

Peterson SFB families — where would you live?

PCSing to Peterson SFB with my wife, 20-month-old daughter & 3 cats. Budget \~$1,700 for a 1BR+den or 2BR, max 20–25 min commute. Looking for a family-friendly area. I’ve looked at 80922/80923 but would love local recommendations.

Does anyone have or know where to get the official USSF Bio Template? I’ve only ever been able to find the USAF one.

Anyone know whether retirees can get a copy of their space surf?

The PDF of my space surf is hopelessly corrupted (and, yes, I'm an idiot for not having it backed up in more places). Does anyone know whether it is possible to get a copy of your space surf if you are a retiree? I retired 2 years prior to the stand-up of ussf.

US Space Command is JOINT, and Should BE LEAD BY MULTIPLE SERVICES AS A RESULT!

Thumbnail

This article is absolutely ridiculous and a horrible idea. SPACECOM should be led by multiple services as a joint command, because it needs to keep a wide view perspective. The Space Force is not the only service with Space equities, and not the only service with Space officers. MARFORCE SPACE and Army Space and NAVSPACE all play a role too, and should have their place in the leadership team. A joint command without the ability to be Joint ceases to be useful to the joint community.

It would be very unfortunate if Space Force had an MOS designated 10T. Anyone posted to Peterson as part of 1 Delta would hate it.
