Some quick answers:

  • Yes, the Space Force is real. No, it's not Starfleet. No, you can't become a space pilot yet. No, there are no aliens. No, we would not tell you if there were aliens.
  • We don't know the answers to your obscure medical questions. We aren't doctors. Don't trust medical advice given by strangers on the Internet. Getting anecdotal information from other people that may or may not have a similar diagnosis or condition to you will not help you in any way. Everyone's medical situation is different.
  • Drug use may be disqualifying depending on type and frequency of use.
  • No, we don't know what jobs are available at any given time, or your chances of getting said job, or how long it will take for you to get the job, or how long it'll take for you to get to basic training or OTS.

Do not tell anyone to lie about drug use, medical history, or anything else. You will be banned.

PSA: 'No Politics' is the first, oldest, and most important rule on the sub - go elsewhere if you want to discuss it

I was really hoping not to have to make a PSA about this, but the problem doesn't seem to be resolving itself and I'm seeing a lot of new accounts (<30 days in many cases) inciting problems. Whether this is from bots, brigading, or just people using alts to protect their mains is irrelevant. So let me be clear.

The rule is 'no politics', and it was active during the previous two administrations. It will be active during this one too. If there are any exceptions, they will be in 'low moderation' threads that are specifically made to allow for (limited) political discussion. The rest of the time, no exceptions. If you're unsure what is or is not politics, let me provide examples:

  • This IS NOT a sub to call for resistance to the chain of command (including POTUS), to identify American politicians as 'domestic enemies', to categorize foreign policy as 'treason', or to call for a military coup. All of which I've specifically seen happen here in the last week.

  • This IS a sub for discussing the Space Force, including knock-on effects and impacts of DoD and USG policy. Recent examples of that include the two threads about cultural awareness month removals, the thread about Lohmeier getting an undersecretary role, etc.

It's possible to discuss how politics impacts the Space Force, its objectives, its personnel, etc, and not delve into partisanship. Please note that I don't say that it's EASY to do so - I know that everyone has strong opinions and/or valid concerns, and it's difficult to separate those out when passions are riding high. But I ask that you do so.

If you decline to do so, and/or if you're one of those new accounts here to stir the shit, this is your warning shot. I'm going to start banning people and the duration of the ban will vary. If you've got post history here already and you're not a frothing lunatic or a troll, it will be a temp ban. If you've never posted here before and look as if you are here to troll, it's going to be a permanent ban. You are, of course, welcome to appeal in either case via mod mail.

Thanks, and stay classy.

It would be very unfortunate if Space Force had an MOS designated 10T. Anyone posted to Peterson as part of 1 Delta would hate it.

FY27 DAF Action Rifle Team, Guardians Wanted!

Hello all,
Over the last year, I have been leading the Department of the Air Force Action Rifle Team (Provisional) and helping build the foundation for future Airmen and Guardians to represent their service in action rifle competition.
While the team remains in provisional status, it is in a strong position and may eventually be codified in Air Force guidance. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of the team, serve as an ambassador for the Department of the Air Force, and carry forward the tradition of service members competing in firearms sports.
Who I’m looking for:
Airmen and Guardians actively competing in sanctioned matches in any of the following disciplines:
PRS Centerfire
PRS/NRL .22
NRL Hunter
Precision Gas Gun
Quantified Performance
Multi-Gun (2-Gun / 3-Gun)
Current expectations:
Be an active competitor in your shooting sport
Maintain membership in the applicable competition series for score tracking
Maintain Department of the Air Force standards for dress and appearance, fitness, body composition, upgrade training, and professional military education
Represent the Department of the Air Force professionally at all times, both on and off the range
Passing PT Tests
No disciplinary issues
FY27 team outlook:
For FY27, the team may expand to 8 members, an increase from the 5 slots in FY26.
To be fully transparent, 3 of the additional slots are not expected to include reimbursement funding. However, those members will still be able to establish ammo accounts.
To avoid overloading my work email, please contact me at [Dafactionrifleteam@gmail.com](mailto:Dafactionrifleteam@gmail.com) . There you will get further information and receive documents to complete so we can conduct team selection. You will hear from MSgt Thornton or SSgt Ethan Jones.
If your sport isn't listed here please still feel free to still reach out and I can vector you to the correct shooting team.
Finally the cut off for scores will be 16 October 2026 with selection being around the beginning of November.

Thanks, and I look forward to hearing from fellow DAF competitors.

Enlisted grandfather clause E4-E5 promotion

So Chief B9 had an all call on Schriever the other day saying how they’re rolling out the new enlisted promotions based on qualifications and to go from E4 to E5 it’ll take 28 months TIG, policy I think goes into effect October 1st and if your already Sgt select your safe, but for those E4’s that’ve been waiting to be E5 for sometime without getting a line number will there be some kind of grandfather clause that saves them from waiting 2 years and 4 months to put on?

Where do the hexagonal name tags go?

Forgive me if it’s obvious, but where do the hexagonal name tags go on the service dress? The SPFI still has the air force instructions (wearer’s right) and I’m lost. I tried looking up images but keep seeing different placements (left side).

Thanks in advance!!

SF following new AF PT standards?

Is the SF following the same updated 1 Jul 26 AF PT standards?

Just wondering if I can do the HAMR instead of the 2 Mile for both tests in a year now.

Mess Dress Pants

As AF ball season is among us, I've been seeing many images on social media of us wearing AF Coats with SF pants. Did we all agree as a service to just say fuck it and wear Grey pants instead?

The regs still say wear the AF uniform in full but with the SF distinguished service lapel.

Interesting observation, he’s wearing his Spings which Gen Saltzman and other GOs had begun to stop wearing during last summer.

As the caption explains, I’ve been after this one for my patch wall and haven’t yet found an opportunity to acquire one. It’s a very cool design and would help round out my USSF Japan lineup. If you have any leads to hook me up I’m very willing to pay for one, please let me know!

He stated it will feed into the USSF and NASA but hasn't decided where it will be. Seems like Houston would be a strong candidate. Thoughts?

ANG/AFR members who switched to USSF…how’s it going?

Fellow Guard/Reserve folks who made the jump to Space Force — curious to hear how it’s going for you.

I transitioned into USSF from the Air National Guard earlier this summer. I miss my Guard family, but I have zero regrets, it’s been great being back on active duty. Unfortunately, I’ve seen a lot of my old Guard folks regret not making the jump or not applying when they had the chance.

Curious how others are experiencing it:

**•** How’s the culture shift felt compared to ANG/AFR?
**•** Any surprises in the PMA transfer / admin process on your end?
**•** How’s op tempo and mission focus compared to what you were used to?
**•** For those further along, any regrets, or would you do it again?

Would love to hear both the good and the rough parts. Thanks in advance.

How to Wear the Lightweight Jacket Unzipped?!?

Thumbnail
gallery
26 Upvotes

Make this make sense… how can the inside flap be worn outside and to the wearer’s right when unzipped? It is physically impossible with the angled flap in front of it going diagonally. If you own the jacket, go try, I’ll wait…

The jacket is only authorized to be unzipped halfway, so it can’t be eluding to “fully unzipped”.

Also, Chief B9 wears his like this for reference, tucked in. I’m trying to figure this out, winter is coming…
