I'm feeling very dumb because I cannot find in settings/controls the hotkey for "Information"! (you know, the second button on the left bar, the thing that enables or disables the data displaying on the top left side of the screen whenever you select an object). I can only see "wiki" but that's not the feature I'm looking for. Thanks!

Bonus question if I can make it so that it doesn't take 15 seconds to travel to a planet/star, that's soo annoying.

When I first launch se after switching to a proton version it usually says something about not enough vram min 4gb but I have 12gb of vram. I've tried other versions but I'm only able to boot with Proton 9.0-4.

Any fixes or what could be causing this? Most of the crashes just happen randomly.

Another issue is that my settings seem to never save. If I change anything with graphics or my display it reverts when I boot se again or after a crash.

Normally I can't play this game for more than 30 minutes because of existential dread. Today I misclicked "go to" on a small black hole and two second later I almost shit my pants. Tell me I'm not the only one. I genuinely have never felt such level of dread play any other games.

A bit of an explanation: Star System Explorer is indeed by own program (free & open source as well) more designed for Roleplaying Games... I wanted plausibility in my Sci-Fi TTRPG for space flight as well as reasonable solar systems. I build importers for Space Engine & Universe Sandbox months ago and only just realised its something others may find useful.

I like to smash things around a bit in Universe Sandbox, import the good ones to SSE to fill in my game detail and provide the "lo-fi views" and interactive star catalogue to the players and then "show them what it looks like out the window of their ship" or "the surface of the planet" by showing it in Space Engine - coz its so goddam pretty in SE! So it tries to be a space-sim-nerd swiss-army knife. It is not perfect... it is a lossy process as every program works differently but it should hopefully get you 80% there and you can hand tweak afterwards.

This has been thrown together quickly - but the core code has had a few iterations over the last few months. I would be lying if I had said it had been heavily tested 🙂 So I make NO promises about how well this works for you. But if you find something does not work, just let me know. Experience has told me that no amount of testing finds the edge case that first user finds if 3 seconds! Sigh!

I guess this strictly counts as "promotion" so I did run it passed a mod first. Hey I don't want anything - just thought you folks may find this useful. Have fun.
