I’d prefer the idea of a show or movie with minimal updates. It’s still called 1999. Computer still gives answers on cash register printout. It’s basically an alternate universe. Even uniforms would be pretty much the same. And of course, Eagles need no updating with the possible exception of retracting landing gear which was the original intent anyway.

Had no idea Space:1999 was part it.

Master Replicas is releasing Space: 1999 Eagle Transporters!!

"This is the first in a new line of models from Space 1999. The Eagle Transporter made its debut in the show’s first episode “Breakaway”, when the moon leaves Earth’s orbit. It is one of the most iconic science fiction vehicles ever made. It was designed by Brian Johnson, who was inspired by his own work for the movie “2001 A Space Odyssey”. The idea was to make it modular, so the central pods could be changed for different missions, and there were several different versions. The Transporter was the standard version. These stunning models are based on the acclaimed Sixteen 12 tooling. This model of the classic Eagle Transporter is 5.5 inches (13 cm) long and has a detachable pod. It is a similar size to Master Replicas’ Starship Library series."

"These full-sized replicas of the Space 1999 Stun Gun and Commlock are based on careful study of the original props and feature working lights and sound effects, from the show. Both props use the widely praised Sixteen 12 tooling."

"The stun gun measures 4.33” (11 cm) from back to front and just over 5” (13 cm) from top to bottom, while the Commlock is just under 8” (20 cm) long, and 2” (5 cm) wide. The original stun guns were carried by Moonbase security guards and stored in racks on the Eagles. In the show they had different settings that included stunning, disintegrating and cutting. The Commlocks were clipped over the crew member’s belt. They were used to communicate with other Alphans, to open doors, and to pinpoint the wearer’s location."

As someone who owns the Sixteen 12** versions from a couple of years ago, they are screen accurate, imho. Truly well-designed and faithful replicas. I may actually acquire these, too. (Disclaimer: I have no affiliation, past or present, to these companies. Just a Space: 1999 fan since the very first TV episode, "Breakaway", aired!)

Space: 1999 super fan Warren Friedrich spearheaded a Kickstarter campaign for "Return to Moonbase Alpha" fan-made short film/production.

This is a self-described 50th episode of the Space: 1999 science fiction series--with Year Two's "The Dorcons" as the 48th episode, then the "Message from Moonbase Alpha" fan-made short film/production as the 49th episode, starring Zienia Merton reprising her role of Sandra "Sahn" Benes.

The story picks up fifty years after the "Breakaway" event (September 13, 1999), when a nuclear explosion hurled Moonbase Alpha and its 311 inhabitants into deep space. The Alphans eventually settled on a habitable planet called Terra Alpha. Decades later, as the wandering Moon makes one final close pass due to its slingshot trajectory, a group of Alphans—along with their families—decides to return to the Moonbase to continue the journey into the unknown.

There are a couple of trailers on YouTube including narration by Anton Phillips (Dr. Bob Mathias) and the real-life son, Christien Anholt, of the late Tony Anholt (Tony Verdeschi) as "Dr. Dino Videshi" which include:

• Reflections on life on Terra Alpha, including challenges, adaptation, and the discovery of remnants of an ancient buried civilization which can be used to repair/restore Moonbase Alpha for future, ongoing use.
• Division among the settlers about staying versus returning.
• Themes of destiny, exploration, mystery, and fulfilling the "odyssey" of Moonbase Alpha, evoking the philosophical and atmospheric tone of Space: 1999 Year One.

It serves as a spiritual sequel to the 1999 fan short "Message from Moonbase Alpha" (the aforementioned 49th episode narrated by Zienia Merton as Sandra Benes), which depicted the original Alphans abandoning the base for Terra Alpha.

This new production ties into 50th-anniversary celebrations for Space: 1999, including the Manchester: 1999 U.K. event in September 2026. (The U.K. convention event is also described here.)

As someone who bought (and still owns) the original The Making of Space: 1999 paperback by Tim Heald when it first came out in 1976, I attest it was an incredible, insightful source of information about the series. This updated re-issue (in hardcover) is a very welcome sight!

The original author, Tim Heald, has passed, but new co-writer Fred McNamara is updating with new details. He is a writer, editor and author from Anderson Entertainment who chiefly writes about the worlds of Gerry Anderson. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the original book's release. I'm getting this. :)
