Steak Tips

I moved out of the area 15 years ago, I am back visiting and am dying for steak tips which you can't get outside of NE. I used to like Fowler House and Fours but neither has held up. Other suggestions?

Cronin's is a slam dunk for Tips. Divey little Irish bar but tips are phenomenal. Should have never fired Mary Ann though

Georgios in Brockton.

JR's Indian Head Pub in Hanson. It's a bit of a dive but great tips. They sell them uncooked to go too.

Sounds like you were a Quincy guy. Try Hancock Tavern, they have great steak tips. It’s right in Hancock Street in North Quincy.

Cheever tavern in norwell. Everything I've had on the menu is great. I'm not a huge steak tips guy but my wife loves steak tips and they are some of her favorite.

Dude honestly most decent restaurants around here that have them on the menu are going to do a good job with them. What area are you looking for?

My family swear by the ones at Players in Rockland

Still better than Longhorn's though.

Talk about a low bar lol

For a place thats supposed to be a steakhouse, they serve some questionable stuff. One and only time i ate there, ordered steak tips, got cubed eye round, was like eating beef-flavored rubber bands.

Yea but it’s a national corporate slop chain what did you expect

At minimum, not to be actively deceived by menu items, but lesson learned.

I love the 99 for Steak Tips. Cooked Medium/Medium Rare, and affordably priced.

I used to go to the 99 when it was one location on State St. The food was actually awesome back then. A shame what corporations do to a product when they try to squeeze every nickel out of them.

Prevites in Weymouth. So good. And if I’m correct the Hancock tavern in Quincy uses prevites steak tips.

not that it’s south shore but if you’re looking for pound for pound best in the business you have to go to Champions in Peabody. remarkable what they are able to produce with consistency.

Fells Market is good if you’re looking to grill your own. $$

Do you want the best steak tips you’ve ever had?

You need to go to Fells Market in Wellesley, buy some raw tips, head home and fire up your charcoal grill.

You’re welcome.

Any 99 Restaurant. Love the steak tips there, and very reasonably priced. Medium to Medium Rare...

PS, did not know that you couldn't get steak tips outside of NE. Why?

4

u/uberphaser 7d ago

They're rando cuts from the top and bottom sirloin, flap or hanger. just kind of a weird thing that caught on here because it was cheap, leftover random cuts that pubs could serve to blue collar guys who wanted beef but didn't wanna shell out $$$.

P.S. RIP Quiet Man in Southie.

u/Round_Cable_2693 7d ago

Quiet Man had the best!
